Losing Home as the Critical Point In Lives of Women Clients in Three Prague Shelters

The Master's Thesis examines the problematics of a loss of home percieved as crisis by women - clients of shelters. In its theoretical part mainly the findings of professional expertise and materials about homelessness and psychological crisis of loss were used to describe the phenomenon. It also contains a description of various forms of public services available to women who lost their homes as well as a brief introduction to women's shelters in Prague. Research itself was conducted using semi structured interviews with clients of three of Prague's shelters that offer accommodation services to three different target groups of women and forms the practical part of the thesis. The main aim of the research was to answer a question whether or not the clients of the shelters percieved the loss of their homes as crisis. Through several of the questions within the interview it was possible to achieve satisfactory results in providing the answers as well as in gaining some new perspectives on the above mentioned phenomenon as a whole. The research showed that the women who took part in the survey did indeed perceive the period of time when they lost their homes as crisis.
Probe within the competence of civil adviser

(in English): The theme of this thesis is to probe into the competences of civil advisor. This work focuses on finding competency requirements that must be met for the civil work consultant and also how this all is perceived by consultants themselves. This thesis is divided into two main blocks, the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part contains characteristic and defining of concepts and activities in field of counseling with detailed specification of the Civil advice and its staff. The main emphasis is placed on defining the knowledge, skills and values of civil advisors. The practical part is finding out the perspective of civil advisors competency within their profession and also the needs in this area. The main questions of the research which were asked are the following: "What degree of confidence feel the civil advisers in their competence while counseling?" And "Is current system of education of consultants sufficient?" Responses were gained by data analysis identified by a quantitative survey supplemented by qualitative interviews with community advisors. There are proposals for further research on the topic in conclusion of this thesis.

The aim of this thesis is to map stresses and psychotraumata clients of low- threshold centres for children and youth in Prague. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical parts. Support options and family therapy system for families with domestic violence

The bachelor thesis " Support options and family therapy system for families with domestic violence " is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part contains eight chapters, in which the basic questions corresponding to this subject are answered. First, it defines domestic violence, while listing its characteristics, causes, forms, and phases. At the same time, it outlines the legal aspects. Further, it discusses the characteristics of victims of domestic violence and the possibilities to help them. It also deals with how to work with victims, which includes a security plan. The theoretical part then lists the institutions that provide assistance to victims of domestic violence. It also identifies the perpetrators of domestic violence the techniques for their recognition, their classification and a definition of how to work with a violent person. The theoretical part also includes a description of the impact of domestic violence on the family system. In addition, there is a chapter devoted to children as both the direct and indirect victims of domestic violence. The path of life of young adults after leaving children' home

The thesis on topic "The path of life of young adults after leaving children's home" deals with problems encountered by young people, who spent at least a part of their childhood in some form of institutional, as they now stand at the door-steps of their new, less structured life. The theoretical part of this thesis is oriented toward a description of the system of institutional upbringing, followed by detailing the various psychosocial needs of young people. Attention is also given to negative circumstances effecting the incorporation of such "institutional" children into a general population. The Practical part is concerned with monitoring and description of the new life beginnings undertaken by these young individuals from children's homes. With the help of semi-structured interviews, finding out the experiences and feelings of people, who were growing up in children's homes and their transition to the real world. This whole thesis is pointing out problems of people who are growing up outside of their nuclear family. Emphasis is put on their suitable incorporation into society.
Intercultural mediation and intercultural work - tools of social work in the field of migrants'integration

The topic of this thesis is intercultural approaches in social work. The text aims to map out the process of the establishment of new professions - intercultural mediation and intercultural work. These professions arise in culturally diversified societies of EU countries and serve as a tool to overcome language barriers and enhancing socio-cultural cohesion of society. Objective of the thesis is achieved by using the analytic - synthetic method of theoretical study and performance of good practice in selected EU countries and the Czech Republic. First, the thesis gives a comprehensive overview of immigration and integration policy of the EC / EU and the Czech Republic and focuses on fundamentals of intercultural approach in the helping professions. Major part presents theoretical concepts and practical applications of intercultural mediation and intercultural work in selected EU countries - France, Spain, Portugal, Germany and the Czech Republic. Suicidal Tendencies of Seniors in Telephone Crisis Intervention

(in English): The topic of my thesis is the suicidal tendencies of elderly people. The topic is examined from the point of view of crisis hotlines. I describe terms such as old age, telephone crisis intervention and basic developmental needs (Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor) in the theoretical part. The following practical part focuses on crisis hotlines in the Czech Republic and their statistics concerning suicidal calls. The next part of the research is the analyses of interviews with social workers working on crisis hotlines and the analyses of notes from the talks with suicidal clients. I propose different instruments for the prevention of the suicidal tendencies of elderly people in the discussion.
Possibilities of using psychotherapy while working with the victims of domestic violence: perspective of workers of several Prague's crisis and intervention centers

Markéta Vrbová Abstract The diploma thesis deals with the possibilities of using psychotherapy while working with the victims of domestic violence. The aim is to introduce the perspective of this issue from the view of workers from several crisis and intervention centers in Prague. The thesis is structured into two sections; theoretical and practical. The theoretical part contains the definition of domestic violence, its consequences including post-traumatic stress disorder, working with a violent person, and last but not least the possibilities of using psychotherapy and its definition. The empirical part is based on qualitative research, which describes the steps throughout the whole survey. The analysis and interpretation of the data contain the most important extracts of the interviews. This thesis discovers not only if social workers use psychotherapeutic elements with victims, but also other significant topics that are marginally mentioned. The focus must be on these marginally mentioned issues as well to improve the quality of work with victims of domestic violence.
Family factors of sibling incest development

(in English): This thesis focuses on the issue of sibling incest with special emphasis on the influence of family environment on its development. The theoretical part first discusses the topic of sexual abuse in general, since it is a main area covering the issue of sibling incest. This includes a definition, history, the key characteristics, and a description of the perpetrator and victim. In a similar vein, the theoretical part then covers the topic of incest as a sexual abuse within family, sharing many common characteristics with sibling incest. Finally, the theoretical part gives an overview of sibling incest, including a comparison with father-daughter incest, possible after-effects, a description of the perpetrator and victim, and a discussion of the family system. The empirical part provides a discussion of the individual family factors that contribute to the sibling incest development. This discussion is based on an analysis of foreign literature, as well as interviews conducted with Czech experts. Given the analysis of both sources, one can conclude that, overall, family factors contribute to the sibling incest development. However, they are not the only elements involved with this phenomenon.
