The role of Euroregion Silva Nortica within the cross-border co-operation and the formation of regional identity

The thesis examines the impact of euroregion Silva Nortica on cross-border cooperation and regional identity. Silva Nortica as the newest Czech euroregion is located in Czech-Austrian borderland. The situation in the euroregion is analyzed through quantitative and qualitative research to offer a complex view on the issue. In context of institutional framework conditions the questionnaire survey together with guided interviews with representatives of the euroregion was analyzed. The thesis also offers possible ways of future development of the euroregion. The results show a good potential among locals to build a cross-border community. However, on the institutional level there are many problematic factors as constrains in future development of cross-border cooperation in Czech-Austrian borderland. The Development of Tibetan Cultural and Religious Identity among Tibetans Living outside of Historical Tibet

The Development of Tibetan Cultural and Religious Identity among Tibetans Living outside of Historical Tibet The topic of my thesis was to find out changes in Tibetan society inside Tibet and in Tibetan exile in last 50. years and how do changes help to progress social capital. Inside Tibet is problem with high percent of nonliterary and high percent of incoming Han people, which cause that Tibetan people are getting on the edge of society, because they didn't have developed their human potential. The main problem is that Tibetan people don't know Chinese language well and this language is becoming more useful for daily life in Tibetan autonomous region. Tibetans, who are very religious, don't have opportunity to practice Tibetan Buddhism under communistic rule of Chine. Tibetans have to renounce His Holiness dalajlama and deny part of their Tibetan identity. Those reasons influence them to escape into exile. The second part of my thesis is concerned to describe push and pull factors of migration. As I found in materials, the main reasons to escape into exile were political, religion, education, economical problems and renounce dalajlama. The Fleet Sheet - one page daily

Bachelor thesis "The Fleet Sheet - one page daily bulletin" sumarizes the development ofan innovative newspaper format dedicated to top decision makers based in Czech Republic. The very first part of thesis brings a glance into the sixteen-year evolution of this newspaper in times of Czech economy transition and under the leadership of former American journalist Erik Best. The middle part describes the methodology of designing one page bulletin including the important news picking and their consequential transcription into the form of English synopses. The closing part offers basic empiric research which compares chosen important news to be published in Fleet Sheet with questioned potential reader's choices using both qualitative and quantitative analyses.
An Influence of the Cross-border Cooperation on the Inhabitants' Regional Identity (Case Study Euroregion Šumava)

This thesis examines the influence of the cross-border cooperation on the inhabitant's regional identity in Euroregion Šumava. Although this form of cooperation in the countries of Western Europe's long tradition in the Czech Republic formed and the first Euro-regions until the early 90 years. Such example is the Euroregion Šumava. To what extent are the residents of this Euroregion informed of its activities? It is already possible to speak of so called Euro-regional cross-border identity of the population? If so, it is possible to find the Euroregion its spatial differentiation? There are also present on the territory of Euroregion some barriers, which have a negative impact on the greater integrity? These and other questions seeking answers submitted work. To this end, it was realized the questionnaire, the main results are discussed and compared with the conclusions of other specialized publications. Koclířov by Svitavy: pilgrimage place of (inter)national importance in a secularized state

In the masters dissertation Koclířov by Svitavy, a place of Marian pilgrimage, is presented as a lively seat of the Czech-Moravian Fatima, the national centre of Fatima Apostolate in the Czech Republic, a unique phenomenon within the universal Catholic Church. The centre of pilgrimage was established in 1995, hence it is relatively new. Pilgrims from all over Czechia as well as foreign pilgrims come here to enjoy its unique spiritual atmosphere. The centre offers a wide range of services including a traditional monastic cake shop and Shepherd shop offering devotional articles. Spiritual seminars held here once a month, every first Saturday, are particularly popular among the pilgrims. Serene monastery complex offers many sights and invites to quiescence. A Holy Gate opened by Mons. Jan Vokál, bishop of Hradec Králové diocese, in April 2016 in the frame of the Holy Year of Mercy is yet another unique feature of the place of pilgrim. Thus Koclířov has become one of the important church centres as this privilege is usually given only to cathedrals and minsters of particular dioceses. Military Memorial Places in Czechia: Territorial Differences and Changes in Their Perception in the Context of Political Development

This diploma thesis deals with military memorial places and their spatial information. The work is processed within the new defined geographic direction Necrogeography and continues on discussion about taboo subject of death, cemeteries and military places. It is also a continuation of similar work on the theme of small religious monuments in Czechia. The work has several aims: It rates the role of military memorial places in the formation of regional and local identity. The other aim is to rate the territorial differentiation of military memorial places and how the form of military commemorative locations differs within Czechia. For the purpose of the work a typology of military memorial places was created which allows data to be compared and concluded. The aim of the research part of this diploma thesis is addition of spatial information of the current inventory of military commemorative places in Czechia and evaluation of territorial differentiation between the years 1918 - 1938 in model areas. Transformation of eastern european media presented on public broadcasting establishment

The viewership of public service media in post communist countries of the so-called Eastern Bloc is steadily declining. The need for their support brings about a question about the future of PSB model. The shape of public service remit differs across the selected countries of the Visegrád Group despite the former similarities. This study is trying to provide the reader with a solid comparison of the evolution of public service broadcasting from 4 points of view: regulation, politicization, viewer's attractiveness and sources of funding. The analysis should shed some light into the discussion of future role of PSBs in post-communist democracies. The first part of this thesis is focused on the history of former Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Poland with stress on the broadcasting media and their regulation until 1989. It is followed with the key part analyzing the establishment of dual system, transformation of state-owned media into public service broadcasters and the setting up of the first democratic broadcasting laws. Next chapter describes the current state of European broadcasting regulation and its impact on member states' broadcasters. The closing part evaluates the major differences in compared public service media and provides possible implications for further development of PSBs.
Perceptions and Understanding of Islam among Prague Public

Issues concerning Islam are a frequently discussed topic. People disccus such matters in the context of terrorist attacks, conflicts or wars in Muslim countries. This paper focuses on perceptions concerning Islam among the Czech people, specifically among the inhibitiants of Prague. This thesis will rate the level of knowledge regarding select topics from Islam and the overall position of Prague's inhibitiants. Attention will also be focused on individual groups of residents according to age, gender, education or faith. The thesis also concentrates on sources used by Prague residents to acquire information regarding Islamic culture and Muslims.
