Czech Public on So-Called Istanbul Convention – June 2021

In June 2021 the Public Opinion Research Centre included two questions related to the discussed topic of the so-called Instabul Convention. Specifically, we investigated whether the respondents knew what this Convention was concerned and whether, in their opinion, the Czech Parliament should had or had not have approved the Istanbul Convention.
Evaluation of reaction of state and its institutions to COVID-19 epidemic and compliance with measures against the spread of coronavirus - Our society - special - April 2021

In connection with the spread of coronavirus, the Czech public evaluates the most positively the work of medics, the Fire Rescue Service, the army and the police, while it is the most critical is to the work of the Government of the Czech Republic. The vast majority of the Czech public believes that compliance with existing measures against the spread of coronavirus should be monitored (70%), while only a quarter (25%) have the opposite opinion.
Factors related to feelings of loneliness among Czech university students

This bachelor's thesis aimed to explore the topic of loneliness among university students in the Czech Republic, put it into the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, and mainly find relationships between loneliness and characteristics of Czech university students, specifically gender, age, year of study, household type, romantic relationship, time spent on social media, and income. Loneliness was measured by the UCLA scale of the University of California in Los Angeles and therefore this thesis also focused on the reliability and validity of this scale. To find out which factors are related to loneliness, own research was conducted. Data was collected with an online questionnaire, and the sample contained 1 079 respondents of Czech university students. Firstly, it was found that the UCLA scale for measuring loneliness is a valid tool due to its positive and high correlation with the CES-D 8 depression scale (r = 0,629). Secondly, it was also proven to be a reliable tool for measuring loneliness, with Cronbach's Alpha reaching 0.93. In the research sample, 65.1% of students with high loneliness, 32.6% with moderate loneliness and 2.3% with low or no loneliness were detected. Czech Public on Local Food – Food 2020

The CVVM also included a large block of questions concerning local food in the special Food 2020 research focused mainly on food waste, shopping, and consumer behaviour of Czech citizens.\nOnly three-tenths (30%) of the public in the Czech Republic were interested in the topic of local food, while the majority (69%) were rather not interested or not interested at all.\nThe most important criterion, which, according to the Czech public should be met by the "local food" label, is the information about the place where it was produced (20%) and subsequently that it should be what is considered a quality food (16%).\nThe majority (61%) of the Czech public believed that there was a shortage of local producers / farmers in the vicinity of their place of residence.\n\nThe respondents usually perceived support for local food production from the EU, the Czech Republic, the region and the micro-region as insufficient.
Czech Public on Organic Food – Food 2020

The CVVM also included a block of questions concerning organic food in the special Food 2020 research which was focused mainly on food waste and shopping as well as the consumer behaviour of Czech citizens.\n\nJust under a quarter (24%) of the public in the Czech Republic is interested in the topic of organic food, while 76% are rather not interested or not interested at all. On top of that, compared to 2017, the interest decreased slightly.\n\nIn general, women who also buy organic food more often as well as people aged 20 to 44 and respondents who rate the standard of living of their household as good, are more interested in the topic of organic food.
The Way of Eating, Shopping, and Behaviour of Czech Society with Respect to the Environment – Food 2020

The special Food 2020 research also included several questions related to the issue of food packaging materials, packaging-free shopping, environmentally friendly behaviour or diet, which are all areas closely related to one another but also in general to food waste.\n\nThe vast majority (93%) of the Czech public ate a normal diet without any restrictions and the remaining 7% of respondents indicated a different diet.\n\nLess than a quarter (24%) of respondents were interested in the issue of packaging in which they bought food, while three-quarters (75%) were not interested.
Disposal of Visually Imperfect Vegetables and Fruits as One of the Forms of Food Wasting – Food 2020

In a special study called Food 2020, CVVM SOÚ AV ČR asked for the opinions and attitudes of the Czech public on the issue of food wasting. One part was focused on the purchase of imperfect fruits and vegetables. \n\nIf there were imperfect and perfectly shaped pieces of fruits and vegetables placed next to each other, 59% of the respondents would chose the perfect one, provided they had the same price.\n\nAs for the estimate of the amount of fruits and vegetables that do not reach consumers at all due to their appearance, the correct share (i.e. 20 to 30%) was estimated by almost two-fifths (37%) of the respondents.
