Hala, Martin ; Kořenek, Jan (referee) ; Novotný, Tomáš (advisor)
The master's thesis is about a communication element - a hardware module, its design and implementation. The communication is to be maintained between a Linux embedded device and the sensors elements, using the MiWi protocol. The task is part of the IoT project, developed at FIT BUT. Furthermore, the paper describes design of a driver for the module, its likely solution, as well as the very implementation. Finally, the obtained experience is discussed in a summary, along the next step options on how to proceed further with the driver development.

Taiwan and One China Policy: the Position of the Republic of China through International Law and Practical Politics
Fantová, Simona ; Hála, Martin (advisor) ; Hudeček, Jiří (referee)
The question of Taiwan and One China constitutes one of the most important problems of current geopolitics. However, it is based on a vague construct, which is interpreted differently by different parties involved. The interpretations, as well as manipulations of this vague concept, have an impact on practical politics and directly affect not only the Taiwanese people, but also stability in the region, and its destabilization would pose a grave security threat for the whole international community. This thesis thus examines the relationship between the construct and reality. It analyses the practical effects of the different interpretations of the construct of One China. Applying critical discourse analysis, the text first examines the history of Taiwan and its usage in various national myths of both the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China, then describes the view of international law on the sovereignty over Taiwanese territory, after that examines the practical politics of the PRC, ROC, USA and the UN, and finally analyses the Taiwanese people`s identity and agency to defend their identity, way of life, political freedoms, and ultimately, their statehood.
The Belf and Road in Uganda: CEFC Case Study
Leuchter, Roman ; Hála, Martin (advisor) ; Hudeček, Jiří (referee)
Bachelor thesis "Belt and Road in Uganda: CEFC Case Study" deals with the People's Republic of China's engagement in Africa. Specifically, it focuses on a corruption case of high-level politicians in Chad and Uganda. Patrick Ho, a general secretary of China Energy Fund Committee which is a subsidiary NGO of a Chinese private company CEFC China, was convicted of orchestrating the bribery case. The first part introduces the context of China-Africa relations and Chinese activities in Africa, and the second part describes the CEFC company and the corruption case of Patrick Ho. The core of the work lies on one hand in the analysis of the connections between CEFC and PRC's official politics, consisting of personnel ties and active promotion of the PRC official narrative, especially the Belt and Road Initiative. The other focus is the description of the corruption case. The thesis offers a specific case study to supplement the more general literature on the Chinese involvement in Africa. Keywords Belt and Road, China and Africa, CEFC, Patrick Ho, Ye Jianming, corruption
Protection of personality rights in China in view of the new Civil Code
Vlček, Jan ; Lomová, Olga (advisor) ; Hála, Martin (referee)
This bachelor thesis presents the regulation of personality rights in the first ever Civil Code of the PRC 中华人民共和国民法典. Prior to the promulgation of the Civil Code personality rights had been scattered across various legal norms. In this respect, the codification is a significant legal achievement. This thesis seeks to answer the question of whether the Civil Code offers a greater degree of protection than the previous regulation, and to what extent is this protection enforceable. Following a few introductory chapters, which put some key words in context, most of the thesis is devoted to a comparison of the old and new regulation. The thesis concludes that although the Code has succeeded in introducing several new institutes also familiar to the continental law doctrine, in a number of areas the Code has not remedied the deficiencies of the original regulation; in other places, it even introduces new controversial provisions, which in some cases are linked to specific power interests of the CCP. Quotations from Chinese classical literature in speeches by CPC Secretary General Xi Jinping (themes and ideas)
Suk, Šimon ; Lomová, Olga (advisor) ; Hála, Martin (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the quotations of classical Chinese authors in speeches of the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Xi Jinping. Main source of this thesis is the first representative selection of such quotations, supplied with explanatory comments, published in 2015. Thesis presents the overall approach of the editors of the book, their goals, outline of their choice of sources (authors, genres, era) and the quotations whereby Xi Jinping discusses various topics. Subsequently, it is shown on a representative sample of quotations, in what way the meanings of these particular quotations are manipulated and how they are interpreted by Xi Jinping (or perhaps those, who write his speeches). The analysis is placed in context with the basic ideas and practice of "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era" and the broader context of the ideology of the Chinese Communist Party.
The Chinese United Front in the ČR: methods, goals and organizational structure
Jirouš, Filip ; Hála, Martin (advisor) ; Hudeček, Jiří (referee)
This thesis describes the CCP united front work in the Czech Republic and challenges the current understanding of the Chinese diaspora's role in the PRC's influence in countries with small Chinese communities. Through an analysis of primary Chinese-language sources contextualized using secondary literature, the study presents the first overall picture of the CCP united front work in a European country. It identifies the main united front groups within the Czech Chinese diaspora and describes their engagement with the Czech and PRC political systems, as well as pan-European Chinese diaspora associations. The main finding is that, while these organizations play an auxiliary role to the Party-state organs and channels PRC uses for interacting with Czech and European politics, their importance and activity is higher than noticed in previous research. The study further finds that the trans-national mobility of the European Chinese migrant communities, well- established in previous scholarship, influences united front work in its treatment of the continent as single space. The creation of pan-European Chinese associations is actively supported by the PRC organs that engage them on higher level than groups restricted to specific countries. The relevance of previous research on European Chinese diaspora to...
