Sexual Harassment at Universities: the Perspective of Students

The main aim of my thesis is to examine students' perceptions of sexual harassment by professors at Czech universities, their attitudes, and experiences. In the theoretical section, I present the history of the term sexual harassment, its definitions, theories of sexual harassment and results of selected research. The theoretical section also discusses a specific character of the academic setting and attempts to answear some basic questions: How can we prevent sexual harassment? How prevalent is sexual harassment in the academic setting? What are the consequences of sexual harassment for students? The readers will learn about some ways of complaint handling, which are used by foreign univesities. One chapter is devoted to the pertinent law in the Czech republic. The empirical section describes a choosen method - quantitative survey research - and its practical use. This section also presents and interprets collected data. In conclusion, I offer a summary and discuss the direction of future sexual harassment research can take.
Creating Social Structure among Children in Nursery School

The diploma thesis "Creating Social Structure among Children in Nursery School" deals with equality of opportunity to pre-school education. The education right is guaranteed for man by legal system. The thesis deals with equal chance to pre-school attendance, to be enrol in a standard class and in free-times activities. The thesis investigates a social structure of a class and its influencing factors. This thesis investigates which access - equal or unequal - is used in a nursery school. The case study of a small town compares two nursery schools - two classes of 6-year-old children. The results of the diploma show the existing social unequality in pre-school education. This social unequality is based on the child's etnicity, person characteristics, gender, age and socio-ekonomic background of family.
The female role in the armed forces - woman's position in the Police of the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis introduces a gender analysis of a present standing of women in the Police of the Czech Republic as seen by policewomen - students of the Police Academies themselves. The thesis investigates whether, in the policewomen's view, there are unrecognized and institutionally built-in gender stereotypes which determine women's and men's positions and acts; whether there exists equal treatment of women and men and equal opportunities of women and men (for example in terms of remuneration, decision-making, career growth, access to further education, etc.) in the context of the Czech Police. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on a gender analysis of Police materials covering the historical development of women's positions in the armed forces of the Czech Republic, legal aspects of service in such forces as well as a review of reports and priorities pertaining to equal opportunities issued by the Czech Ministry of the Interior. 6 Within the quantitative research, a questionnaire survey addressing 60 policewomen studying at Secondary Police School of the Ministry of the Interior and at the Police Academy of the Czech Republic in Prague was conducted from April 2008 to May 2008. This thesis discusses the development of Russian-Chinese economic relations since WW2. The aim of my thesis is to evaluate the development of these relations and show that the economies of Russia and China are complementary. Complementarity has been proved by the structure of mutuale trade and also on the relationship of Russia and China to the EU because the EU is considered as the most important trading partner for both of them.
