Postural therapy of scoliosis using dynamic neuromuscular stabilization in school-age children
HAVLÍKOVÁ, Klára
This bachelor thesis deals with postural therapy in scoliosis with the use of dynamic neuromuscular stabilization applied on school age children who were diagnosed with scoliosis during school years. Scoliosis is a common disease especially in girls' adolescent age when there are hormonal changes in the body. If scoliosis develops at later age, the prognosis for the curve compensation is better. Scoliosis is defined as the three-dimensional spine deformity in the anterior, sagittal and transverse plane. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with scoliosis in general, its classifications and concepts that are used to treat scoliosis - from conservative to operative. The last chapter also mentions the school age. The practical part includes the case studies of three girls. Each of the case studies includes an entrance and final examination focused on Kolar's tests. The tests are focused on examining the deep stabilization system, its activation or insufficiency in the given patients. Further, the case studies elaborate the course of therapy. The aim of this work is to describe a list of methods used in the treatment of scoliosis. Another goal is to describe postural changes in specific patients. During the therapy it appears that the DNS method can be used for different age groups due to its variety of exercises. The results show that the DNS method has affected postural changes in patients.
