TITLE: "Holiday" short story genre in A. P. Chekhov's writings SUMMARY: In its theoretical part, this thesis gives an overview of origination and progression of Christmas and Easter short poem genre on the background of Russian Orthodox culture. Main object of this work's practial part is characterization and description of progression of so- called "holiday" short story in the work of A. P. Čechov. Divided into seven thematic groups, short stories are by means of interpretation put into contrast against the Christmas and Easter short story prototype of the last third of 19th century. Using the original quotations of short stories texts the creative modifications of nowadays classical genre are explained: new narrative techniques, modern lyrical view of the world and last but not least the ideal of humanistic view of man. Dark side of love in Russian classical literature

The thesis is thematically defined by the phenomenon of prostitution as one of the oldest trade items. The theoretical part defines the key concept of the work, i.e. prostitution, as well as the relationship between society and this social issue. A brief overview of the history of the particular handcrafts follows with all the regulations and legislation through which the leading elities tried to suppress the existence of marketable love. The practical part deals in- depth with the approach to the concept of love in Russian philosophy of the late 19th and 20 th centuries which is reflected in the works of authors of selected literary works. For a more detailed analysis the following authors were chosen: The Darkness and Christians by Leonid Andreyev, The Event and Nadezhda Nikolaevna by Vsevolod Garshin, novelette The Pit by Alexander Kuprin and at last the short story Fit by Anton Chekhov. To understand better the approach of individual authors toward the topic of love, particularly this motif is analysed more deeply in a separate chapter. ABSTRACT: The last novel of F. M Dostoyevsky The Brothers Karamazov completed in 1880 addresses profound questions such as religion and morality, human existence and the essence of life. The novel describes a life of the Karamazov family - the father Fyodor Pavlovich and his three sons Dmitri, Ivan and Alexei. In this masterpiece the author is trying to reveal the emotional intensity of these three people who are entirely different in their behavior and ideology. By means of his literary characters the author is trying to grasp many sides of a human soul with its passions, contradictions and the eternal struggle of good and evil in it. The author of the novel deals with different aspects of human existence which according to his vision is not possible without sacrificial love and the spiritual knowledge. This Bachelor thesis is dedicated to the analyses of the Christian symbolism and the author's religious perception which occupy an important place in the novel. Passion Themes in the Early Stories of Chekhov

This bachelor thesis is specifically concerned with the genre of Easter story within the work of A. P. Chekhov. In view of the fact that it represents a relatively broad topic, the author primarily concentrates on the early writer's work. The theoretical part deals with the significance of Easter in relation to Russian cultural archetype and the formation, development and characteristics of Russian Easter story in the context of as it is called "holiday" literature. The main goal of the practical part is to put an interpretation on selected stories by means of the text analysis, to identify key motifs and innovative techniques, which were used by the author as a reaction to the crisis of the genre and also as attributes of his literary expression anticipating the modern literary movements. Author's innovative stylistics is characterized by ambivalence, laconism, tragicomic features, new narrative techniques and genre experiments. Concluding findings have been made on the basis of the analysis of separate stories showing Chekhov's poetics, his overall approach revealing humanistic message of author's Easter stories, Chekhov's concept of religious belief and Orthodox Church.

TITLE: Topic childhood in the Marina Tsvetaeva's poetry in the period till the emigration AUTHOR: Jana Bruněva SUPERVISOR: PaedDr. Antonín Hlaváček ABSTRACT: My thesis aims at presentation of the form of childhood in the poetry by Marina Tsvetaeva, namely by means of her poems, that I have carefully read through. I have aimed primarily at the poetry from the period of the authoress' earliest creative years up to her emigration. This period of her literary activity was very fruitful and very varied as to its topics, form, vocabulary or metrics. I should like to find out by my investigation, how her own childhood influenced her creative activity and whether these motives are present in the whole creative period of here, I have chosen, or only in its particular part. Collective self-representation of "the 3. wave" Russian emigrants and the general vision of them in the P. Vail's and A. Genis's publicistic pieces

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the characteristic features of "the 3rd emigrational wave" authors' creative mentality; and to establish a model of the collective self-representation of the Russian emigrants in 1960-70s using publicistic pieces and essay collections by Pyotr Vail and Alexander Genis. The research illustrated in this thesis belongs to one of the most relevant and topical areas of literary studies. There have been made several scientific researches in order to achieve the goal. The methods used are: the analysis of socio-cultural, economic and political background which had place during "the 3rd wave" of emigration; a review of the scientific literature regarding the emigrant writers' creative methods; an investigation and classification of writers' methods peculiarities which correlate with the topic established; conclusions. As a result we get a holistic model of the collective self-representation of the Russian "3rd wave" emigrants which includes key features of their mentality, character, mood, habits, daily life etc.

Image of a Child in Short Stories of Leonid Andreyev

This bachelor thesis deals with a child character in the short stories of Leonid Andreyev. The aim of the thesis is to find out the importance of a child in works of this author. To achieve this aim, the author of this thesis uses specialized literature and especially her own analysis of the stories. The first and the second part of the thesis concentrate on the general political and cultural overview of that time. It also focuses on the connection between Andreyev's works and artistic movements of his time. The third chapter informs about the development of a childhood theme in the literature and aspects of a childhood appearing in the works of Russian writers of 19th century. Especially in the books of Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy and Chekhov whose output probably influenced Andreyev mainly. The fourth part is devoted to Andreyev's life, writing and the typology of his characters. The fifth part includes an analysis of some stories which are divided into three groups, according to the function which a child fulfills there. At first are described the stories in which children are the main characters while their role in the stories of the other group is just symbolic. Title of the Bachelor Thesis: The creation of A.Averchenko in emigration Abstract The graduate work «The creation of A.Averchenko in emigration» is dedicated to the research of the creative work of an outstanding writer of the XX century beginning, who is a well-known classic of Russian satiric and humorous prose. The aim of research is the analysis of Averchenko's literary activity during the giant revolutionary turn in Russian history, the changes in his sense of humour in the emigration and the influence of the new society on the writer's creation in his Czech period of life. The object of analysis in this work, as well, is the single Averchenko's humorous novel «The Joke of the Maecenas», written in the emigration.
