The subject of this bachelor thesis is to design and create a web portal, enabling efficient indexing and content-based searching of images obtained from various free image databases (e.g., results from a keyword-based search engine). The portal provides fast feature extraction technique and for the visual similarity, the signature quadratic form distance is utilized. The search supports various user settings and comparison of their results. Search results can also be presented using a layout based on particle physics, which supports exploration and multi-query.
Multi-model Approach For Effective Multimedia Exploration
Grošup, Tomáš ; Lokoč, Jakub (advisor) ; Somol, Petr (referee)
This work is focusing on exploration of multimedia collections. It describes the problematic of exploration and proposes new approaches to it, two based on the data structure M-Index and two utilizing multiple similarity models at once. Those approaches were compared using an extensive user study. Part of this work is also devoted to analysis of a new exploration system, design of its architecture, system implementation and its deployment. This exploration system was used in several applications, which are also shown and described in this thesis.

Methods of Multi-Modal Data Exploration
Grošup, Tomáš ; Skopal, Tomáš (advisor) ; Schöffmann, Klaus (referee) ; Dohnal, Vlastislav (referee)
Digitalization throughout the industry leads to rapidly increasing amounts of data captured and stored which brings forth challenges for indexing and ac- cessing large digital repositories. Very often, the data takes form of complex multi-part entities, such as images with relational attributes, photos with ge- ographical coordinates or textual posts with multimedia content and implicit social relationships. The complexity of such entities and lack of fixed struc- ture makes it impossible to use classical information retrieval methods based on attribute filtering, ranking or grouping, as it is not easy or sometimes even possible to define an exact query. In this thesis, we target data exploration as an act of exploring an unfamiliar area via a series of intuitive, effective and efficient system-supported steps. We present methodologies, demo applications and evaluation results targeting different data sources of multimedia data. Fur- thermore, we focus on the ability to utilize multiple modalities within a single session and on integrating the results into widely used software solutions.
Effective visualization for interactive video exploration
Pavlovský, Jan ; Lokoč, Jakub (advisor) ; Grošup, Tomáš (referee)
In this thesis we introduce an innovative approach to visualisation and search results presentation for large video collection search and browsing. The general problem of video search is analysed and discussed in comparison with other current software tools and methods used for video search. A specific visualisa- tion method and algorithm for its generation is then proposed and discussed. We evaluated the methods both, empirically and by a user study. Based on the results, we chose the best possible algorithm settings for interactive video search and applied them. A simple experimental software tool implementing the proposed methods is developed focusing on the visualisation components. 1
Indexing of text documents and their parts
Tomeš, Jiří ; Kopecký, Michal (advisor) ; Grošup, Tomáš (referee)
The thesis describes the design and implementation of an application for processing electronic publications (collections of conference papers, comprehensive manuals, or even classical electronic books) in order to enrich their internal navigation by hyperlinks between their related parts, respectively producing as representative as possible summarizations of given length. Unlike similar applications summarizations can be based not only on the sentences, but on elements of other categories like paragraphs, sections and the like. The main emphasis was put on ease of use, platform independence, and multilingual support. The application provides a flexible environment that can be customized to user's needs.

Scrum methodology in banking environment
Strihová, Barbora ; Buchalcevová, Alena (advisor) ; Grošup, Tomáš (referee)
Bachelor thesis "Scrum methodology in banking environment" is focused on one of agile methodologies called Scrum and description of the methodology used in banking environment. Its main goal is to introduce the Scrum methodology and outline a real project placed in a bank focused on software development through a case study, address problems of the project, propose solutions of the addressed problems and identify anomalies of Scrum in software development constrained by the banking environment. The thesis is divided into chapters about agile development principles, the Scrum methodology and banking environment in ICT, followed by a case study researching a project in a bank in its beginnings of software development according to Scrum methodology, and at last conclusions made of the case study. The thesis should be beneficial for those, who are part of development teams in banking institutions and are considering an introduction or are already introducing the Scrum methodology into their teams and would like to be enlightened by and at the same time avoid initial errors and obstacles, which the researched team has faced.
