Analysis of Klaudyán's Maps Derivatives from Map Collection of Charles University
Vydláková, Alena ; Čábelka, Miroslav (advisor) ; Grim, Tomáš (referee)
Analysis of Mikuláš Klaudyán's map derivatives from the Map collection of Charles University Abstract This bachelor's thesis concerns itself with Mikuláš Klaudyán's map of Czech lands from 1518 and derivatives of said map. Main objective of this thesis is to analyse all available derivatives of Klaudyán's map from the Map collection of Charles University and ascertain basic facts about these maps. Furthermore, of all the derivatives, four maps are chosen for a detailed content analysis and a cartometric analysis. The chosen maps are: Sebastian Münster's map from his Cosmographia; another map in a czech version of The Cosmographia translated by Zikmund of Puchov in Kosmografie česká; Italian engraver Bolognino Zalteri's map and a Klaudyán's map of František Jakub Jindřich Kreybich. The content analysis focuses on mathematical, physiographic and socioeconomic elements of the map. Cartometric analysis is done in MapAnalyst software. Resulting from the thesis is a concise table summarizing all the information available about Klaudyán's map derivatives from the Map collection of Charles University. Additionally, a table comparing the names of settlements contained on Klaudyán's map and its derivatives is attached to this thesis and is analyzed to the detail. Key words: analysis, Bolognino Zalteri, František...
Development cartographic means of expression for representing castles on old maps of the Bohemia
Neckář, Petr ; Bayer, Tomáš (advisor) ; Grim, Tomáš (referee)
Development cartographic means of expression for representing castles on old maps of the Bohemia Abstract This thesis examines the development of cartographic means of expression that are used for the display of castles, palaces, strongholds and ruins on the old maps of Bohemia in the period from the early 16th century to early 18th century. The work evaluates the positional inaccuracies of location of interest sites through cartometric analysis. The first part is theoretical, in which the issues outlined cartographic semiotics and cartographic expression. Next two parts deal with the oldest cartographic references of the Bohemia, or the description of the analyzed maps. Further, the thesis illustrated the method by which the analysis are extracted. The chapter summarizes contains results of findings. Keywords: old maps of Bohemia, signs for castles, cartographic semiotics, cartometric.

Reproductive tactic of the Common Pochard (Aythya ferina)
Hořák, David ; Albrecht, Tomáš (advisor) ; Grim, Tomáš (referee) ; Honza, Marcel (referee)
Reproductive tactic of the Common Pochard (Aythya ferina) David Hořák Summary of the PhD. thesis Capability of reproduction is a fundamental characteristic of all living systems. "Desire" for it is, according to modem evolutionary theories, a motive force of majority of events in the living world. Every organism competes for the possibility to reproduce with the aim to have as many viable offspring as possible during an individual's life time. The way in which they cope with changing environment athacts the attention of many biologists. The evolutionary adjusting to environmental conditions or set ofanatomical, physiological and behavioural adaptationsis called life history. To puzzle out the life histories seems to be a challenge and we try to understandthem using description oftheir characteristics(life history traits). Those are most frequently number and size of offspring, body size, number of reproductive events in a life time or lifespan. There is a lot of life history traits. Combinations of their diverse stateslay in the background ofgreat number oflife histories. Birds serve as suitable models for life history investigation because their life cycle as well as reproductive event is properly separated into distinct parts and investment into reproduction can be quantified easily. This thesis focuses on...

Influences and receptions of older and contenmporary cartographic handworks in cartographic handworks of 16 - 18th century
Chrást, Josef ; Bayer, Tomáš (advisor) ; Grim, Tomáš (referee)
Influences and receptions of older and contemporary cartographic handworks in cartographic handworks of 16-18th century Abstract The master thesis deals with mutual inspiration and copying maps and map outputs among the authors of important cartographic works of the Czech lands from the period 1526-1720. The aim of the thesis is to draft and test a methodology for analyzing degree of similarity between two different old maps. Based on the results of analysis it will be possible to say whether one of the map is a complete or a partial copy of the other map. The main part of the thesis is devoted to the draft of the methodology that allows comparison of two different old maps showing approximately the same territory, originating from a similar period and having generally the same scale. The practical part of the thesis is focused on verification of the methodology based on the analysis of the oldest cartographic handworks of Moravia from the Map Collection of Charles University in Prague and another Moravian map collections. The aim is to find "similar" maps and determine the degree of their similarity. Keywords: history of cartography, old maps, Moravia, Jan Amos Komensky, Pavel Fabricius

Vliv stavu a funkce imunitního systému na pohlavní výběr u ptáků

Evolution is a most fascinating feature of all living things in our world. The means of organismal evolution are diverse, comprising mainly of natural and sexual selection. Both of these phenomena may contribute to evolutionary adaptations in health and disease. The questions of immunity impact on the process of sexual selection and sexual selection for increased anti-parasite resistance are wide issues of the present research in natural sciences. Their clarification requires multidisciplinarily-based investigation combining a variety of partial results into a single united paradigm. My co-workers and I have chosen several specific issues to study, in order to fill some of the important gaps of the current knowledge. We proposed the Carotenoid maintenance handicap hypothesis to point out that optimisation instead of maximisation of the carotenoid intake and ornamental display may be physiologically convenient for the individual. In Scarlet rosefinch (Carpodacus erythrinus) we confirmed the role of the carotenoid-based ornamental colouration in the process of sexual selection and investigated several partial aspects of the association between immunogenetics, immune function, health and the ornament expression and mate choice. In Zebra finch (Taeniopygia guttata) we have shown that the present way of...
