In the shadow of the Vír's reservoir. Disappearance of villages Chudobín and Korouhvice.
Kratochvílová, Petra ; Vaněk, Miroslav (advisor) ; Franc, Martin (referee)
This master's thesis is about disposal of municipals Chudobín and Korouhvice, which ceased to exist in due to the construction Vír reservoir. While Chudobín brought the waterworks building complete extinction, for Korouhvice this reservoir construction wasn't so totally destructive - above the flood plain territory of the waterworks were built five new houses which were inhabited by indigenous people. The construction, which was built on the river Svratka in the 50's has very deep impact on human destinies and become one of the basic and essential element in that region. This thesis explores the historical development and character of both the flooded villages, river Svratka itself and even the idea of the construction and the actual implementation of that waterwork. A separate part of this thesis consists of the liquidation process itself, from its own preparations through depriving or buyout to search for new housing. The final part is about the development after finishing works on the reservoir - the new Korouhvice, life near the dam and restrictions imposed by the protection zone around the reservoir flow. KEYWORDS Svratka, Vír's dam, Chudobín, Korouhvice, liquidation, oral history.

The amateur theatrical societies in the West Bohemian borderlands - The theatre in Hostoun, in Pobezovice in years 1947 - 1990
Lešková, Eva ; Franc, Martin (advisor) ; Houda, Přemysl (referee)
This diploma thesis is on the history of amateur theatre societies in the West Bohemian border area, focusing on two companies, the Hostouň company and the Poběžovice company. With respect to the fact that these theatre companies were most popular with the audience during the period before the revolution in 1989, I will focus on their theatre activities between 1947 and 1990 in my thesis. Amateur theatre has always been a Czech cultural phenomenon and was always considered an effective means of creating positive relations within a community. At the same time many theatre performances reflect the historic situation and provide its unique generational interpretation. To explain the overall situation concerning amateur theatre in socialist Czechoslovakia, I endeavour to describe the theatre environment during the post-war period in the third chapter. The methodology of work is based on specialist literature, archive records and chiefly on conversations based on the oral history methods. On the basis of oral historic research I also endeavour to elaborate on topics, which undoubtedly belong to amateur theatre. These topics include characterisation of an amateur actor or director, motivation for performing theatre, amateur theatre shows, expert juries, dramaturgy, stage design and others. The purpose of...

The objective of this Master's thesis is to reflect personal memories of the folklore group members on ethnographic Chod festivals, which circle around the period from the fifties till the present day. As well as putting the emphasis on comparison between the memories made before and after 1989, I also focus on the component spheres of interpretation, such as topics about traveling of the Chod folklore groups before the year of 1989 or about music careers of each of the narrators. Furthermore, I observe the changes in political situations and its potential influence on Chod Festivals and its organization and the relationship of local folk groups. The primary sources of this thesis consist of interviews conducted by oral history method with former and current members of local folk groups. The text also derives from archived materials, period press and memoir literature. During the reflection on ethnographic festival the text observes not only historical and political aspect, but the musical and social aspect as well. The biggest contribution of the thesis is therefore the presentation of the topic from different points of view. The thesis tries to contribute to spread the consciousness about the people who had learning disabilities and who lived during the normalization. In our contemporary history this group was marginalized. The aim of this thesis is to try if and how the environment and living conditions of these people in the institutional care changed during the years 1969 - 1992. The research was realised by the oral history and worked with five testimonies of women who live in different parts of the Czech Republic and who worked with people with learning disabilities before 1989 and also in the nineties. The other sources which I used were publications devoted to special education. These publications contain the short process of evolution of care of people with learning disabilities. I used the publications which were published during the years 1969 - 1992 and also those which were published after 1989. The basic area of topics in the thesis includes the daily routine in the institutional care, the education (institutional and also non-institutional), employment, financial matters and the leisure time of people with learning disabilities. The others are: the view of the majority society to these people and how the special teachers were educated. The final chapter reflects the changes occurred after November 1989....
