Modulated vs. continuous jets: Performance comparison
Foldyna, Josef ; Sitek, Libor
Performance of ultrasonically modulated jets in cutting of various materials was tested in laboratory conditions in the Institute of Geonics in Ostrava. Results obtained in cutting of brass, mild steel, rock and concrete samples using modulated water jets are presented. The results are compared with those obtained with continuous jets at the same operating parameters. Potential of forced modulation of the jet is discussed.
Measurement of force effects of modulated jet
Foldyna, Josef ; Sitek, Libor ; Jekl, Pavel ; Nováková, Daria
Results obtained in measurement of force effects of water jets modulated by ultrasonic vibration of a tip situated inside the nozzle are presented. Both method of modulation of the jet and method of measurement of force effects of the jet are briefly described. Potential of the measurement of force of modulated jets in determination of optimum configuration of the ultrasonic nozzle is discussed.
Measurement of selected parameters in rock disintegration by a mechanical tools: comparison of two principles
Foldyna, Josef ; Jekl, Pavel ; Nováková, Daria ; Sitek, Libor ; Vašek, Jaroslav
Results of sandstone and trachite disintegration obtained using laboratory pressure plough at the Institute of Geonics, CAS Ostrava and cutting rig at CRN in Cagliari (Italy) are compared in the paper.
Comparison of various types of nozzles for high-speed water jet generation
Sitek, Libor ; Foldyna, Josef ; Nováková, Daria
In the paper, three different types of nozzles for high-speed water jet generation are compared. The original methodology is used for comparison that is based on combination of three independent groups of measurement.
