Learning styles and their effectivness amongst pupils with specific learning disabilities

This diploma thesis deals with learning styles and their effectiveness amongst pupils with specific learning disabilities. The theoretical part describes the problems of specific learning disorders, the current legislation and the possibilities of care for pupils with specific learning disabilities in school counseling facility, learning styles, learning habits amongst pupils with specific learning disorders and basic diagnostics of learning styles. The practical part is focused on the research and includes quantitative research which focuses on revealing the predominant style of learning at the second level of elementary school amongst pupils with learning disabilities and its comparison with the regular population of pupils. The thesis also answers a range of questions, such as, what helps learners who have learning disabilities to make the most out of their work, what disturbs the learners during learning, and compares these findings with pupils without any learning disabilities. The results of the survey revealed that pupils with specific learning disabilities involved in the research are predominant in the auditory style of learning. There were no differences found between predominant learning styles in pupils with learning disabilities and pupils without these disorders.
Comparison of practicing methods of initial reading and writing in relation to specific learning disorders

Theoretical part of this thesis comprises findings gathered by analyzing available specialized literature focused on specific learning disorders, methods of practicing of initial reading and writing, and Framework Education Program for Elementary Education. The practical part consists of research in a form of questionnaire survey, which compares both learning and writing training methods with respect to specific learning disorders as its main target. The main purpose of this research was to obtain and analyze opinions of specialists from counseling and school psychology clinics on methods of teaching reading and writing, furthermore how these methods may help avert the development of special learning disorders or which methods of teaching writing and reading might be associated with more frequent development of special learning disorders. The survey shows, that the most popular and the most suitable method for initial writing and reading practice according to inquired specialists is still the analytical-synthetic method, which sustains development of particular functions and it is coherent with child's natural phonological development. Implementation of support measures for pupils with specific behavioral disorders in primary schools

The diploma thesis is focused on providing support to pupils with specific behavioral disorders at ordinary primary schools. Its aim is to find out how support is provided to pupils with specific behavioral disorders at ordinary elementary schools, what are the potentialities for providing optimal support to these pupils and suggest possible measures and procedures to improve them. The thesis consists of theoretical and research part. The theoretical part characterizes specific behavioral disorders, education and support for pupils with these disorders. The research part of the thesis focuses on the implementation of support measures for pupils with specific behavioral disorders at selected elementary schools. This problem is solved in two levels. The first plane is qualitative, it is a case study of the school (author's workplace). The basis for the preparation of case report are interviews with school special pedagogues and unstructured observations. The second part is aimed at supporting pupils with specific behavioral disorders on a wider scale. It explains the theoretical concept of school readiness, presents the possible consequences of inadequate readiness of a child enrolling in the first year of primary school, and gives examples of diagnostic materials used to evaluate school maturity and child readiness in the Czech Republic and abroad. This work describes the specifics of pre-school and early primary education, the processes of a child's entry into primary education and explains the involvement of educational authorities in the diagnostics of school readiness in the three studied countries. Vocabulary of children of primary school age

This thesis is focused on the evaluation of lexical-semantic level in primary school children. Vocabulary is tested in a population of children with and without the postponement of compulsory schooling. Diagnostic testing is done with the help of an own research tool. A part-of-speech analysis of spontaneous speech is done with a specific goal of monitoring the performance in the area of perception and preposition use. The data is further analysed using methods of both relational and descriptive statistics. Methods and forms of work used for vocabulary development in pre-school children and first grades are explored through interviews with teachers. All the findings should help monitor the vocabulary in primary school children's speech. The research tool used in the testing also functions as a practical and didactical tool for the development of vocabulary focused on perception and preposition use.
Inclusive education of pupils in primary school with small classes conditions

This thesis deals with the inclusion education of pupils in the conditions of primary school with small classes conditions. There are defined terms as inclusion, integration, assistent teacher, school advisory facilities. The aim of the thesis was to find out how the quality of inclusive education is achieved in conditions of the primary school with small classes conditions. Identify the most common barriers to the implementation of inclusive education to primary school from the point of view of teachers and teacher assistant. Find out which factors have the influence in the inclusion process from point of view of teachers. It has been developed the case study of the student with physical impairment who is study at primary school with small class conditions. Research has shown that the quality of inclusive education at primary school with small class conditions is achieved by creating a stimulating and motivating scope. Emphasis is placed on the individual pace of each pupil. Factors relating to the impact are: Number of pupils in the class, communication between the schools and families of pupils, finance and further education of teachers. Support education for pupils with mental disabilities in primary schools

This diploma thesis is concerned with the issues of educational support within the integration of pupils with mild mental disabilities in common primary schools. The theoretical part is divided into chapters which deal with the definition of mild mental disability and its classification, the description of pupils with mild mental disabilities in school age, the specific needs within the education of pupils with mild mental disabilities, the issue of integration, the valid legislature concerning these pupils and most importantly with the supporting measures which are provided for these pupils. The aim of the practical part of the thesis was to find out which supporting measures are provided for pupils with mild mental disabilities in common primary schools and how are these measures put into practice. To gather the required information, the method of a semi-structured interview with selected teachers and the staff of school consulting centers has been used. To further specify the acquired data, the analysis of pupil documentation (mainly individual education plans) has been carried out. Comparison of the practicing methods of initial reading and writing in relation to the specific learning disorders

In diploma thesis named "Comparison of the practicing methods of initial reading and writing in relation to the specific learning disorders" we are trying to find out if the implementation of one of three methods of teaching to read and write - analytic synthetic method, genetic method or Sfumato eliminates the development of specific learning disabilities - dyslexia, disgraphia and disorthographia. The first part of work looks into theoretical outcomes of each method of teaching to read and write and defines specific learning disabilities. In the second part of work methods of teaching to read and write depending on specific learning disabilities development are compared and evaluated based on results of questionnaires, interviews and observation.
Attitudes of primary school teachers to inclusive education of children with mental disabilities

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of inclusive education of pupils with mental disabilities. The aim of the thesis is to find out what attitudes are occupied by primary school teachers and teachers of basic schools that are practical for the inclusive education of pupils with mental disabilities. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is focused on providing basic information about people with mental disabilities, the possibilities of their education and the interpretation of the concepts of integration and inclusion. Further, there is legislation on the education of pupils with special educational needs and a system of counseling services provided in schools and school counseling facilities. The practical part contains information acquired through the method of interview, whose aim is to find out the opinions and attitudes of teachers of basic schools and teachers of elementary schools that are practical for the inclusive education of pupils with mental disabilities.
