Introducing the volume of solids using Cavalieri's principle
Fialová, Eliška ; Vondrová, Naďa (advisor) ; Janda, David (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to use a series of pedagogical experiments to introduce the volume of a pyramid, a cone and a sphere using Cavalieri's principle for pupils of the ninth year of primary school. First, the thesis characterizes the theories and approaches on the basis of which the experiment was built, such as the generic model theory and constructivism. The next part deals with the analysis of schoolbooks for the upper primary school and gymnasium, which are devoted to the introduction of the volumes of solids of pyramids, cones and spheres, and especially those schoolbooks which introduce the given volumes using the Cavalieri principle. The pedagogical experiment was preceded by a series of lessons focused on familiarizing pupils with given geometric solids and deriving calculations of their surfaces. This was followed by the introduction of the Cavalieri principle in the plane and also in space. In the practical part of the thesis, the tasks that were used in the pedagogical experiment are presented. The description of the course of the pedagogical experiment is supplemented by copies of the pupils' solutions. The conclusions are illustrated by the pupils' observations and summaries, which they arrived at in the form of a discussion on the tasks. At the end of the thesis, an evaluation of...
Impact of wather outage to hospitals os the South Bohemia region.
FIALOVÁ, Eliška
Main goal of this thesis is to assess preparedness of health facilities, hospitals in South Bohemia region for drinkable water supply cut. The theoretical part deals with the issue of water and its treatment, drinking water, water management both in the Czech Republic and in Europe in general. The theoretical part deals with the issue of water and its treatment, drinking water, water management both in the Czech Republic and in Europe in general. Hospital preparedness for water supply cut is assessed using a SWOT analysis. The answers of individual hospital staff to predetermined questions were used to prepare the SWOT analysis. Based on the answers from individual hospitals and the results of the SWOT analysis, it shows that majority of hospitals have no problems with drinking water supply. In the event of a failure, some hospitals have, for example, their own wells, which partly cover the need for drinking water on their premises, or have a water supply from two sources, so they can always use one of them. The threats to drinking water supplies are mostly the same for everyone. Dominant threats are natural disasters, black out, or accidents on the water supply network. The crisis situation is also threatened in the event of accidents at the most important sources of drinking water, such as the Římov dam. Today, we must also consider the risk of anthropogenic, such as a targeted attack on a hospital or a source of drinking water.
Disinformation and the covid-19 pandemic as a public policy issue
Fialová, Eliška ; Pekáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Ochrana, František (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the current political problem posed by disinformation occurring during the pandemic of the new covid-19 disease. The thesis is theoretical, describes the current state of knowledge, and proposes possible directions of public policies based on the observed information. This recent and alarming phenomenon is associated with potential danger to public health and thus makes the subject of the thesis relevant. An unusual event such as a pandemic provides a fertile ground for the spread of disinformation and conspiracy. The public space is overwhelmed by information and, at the same time, with emotions such as fear and uncertainty caused by the pandemic. The main finding is the continuation of pro-Kremlin and Chinese interventions in the form of anti-Western disinformation narratives. Those undermine citizens' trust in public institutions and the government, where trust is related to susceptibility to disinformation. Fact-checking positively impacts disinformation, but it has no chance of keeping up with the vast amount of information that emerges during a pandemic of a new disease. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on the prebunking method of the theory of psychological inoculation, which is further described in the thesis. Based on the findings, specific...
Head and neck carcinom irradiation off axis dose assessment
FIALOVÁ, Eliška
In the introduction of my bachelor thesis I am reviewing the problematics of head and neck tumors. This types of tumors belong under otorhinolaryngology - we are speaking about the tumors in the oral cavity, larynx, farynx, nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses and also salivary glands. Symptoms of tumors vary depending on their localization. Patients tend to consider early stage tumor to be something else and so the tumor has a chance to grow a long time unrecognized. Most prominent etiological risk include smoking and alcohol consumption. Other risk include low hygiene, social exclusion, weed smoking or ionizing radiation - in general, all of these can induce tumor growth. Tumor diagnosis often comes late. When choosing the appropriate treatment, all prognosis factors must be accounted for, in particular the stage of tumor (marked by TNM classification), its locality, histological type and patient's age and health condition and his wishes. Patients' wishes must be respected. The chapter "Methods of treatment" briefly summarizes characteristics of each method. As of next, I am looking at the modern radiation techniques. These techniques seem to have better results compared to their predecessors. The aim of conformal radiation technique (3DCRT) is to adjust the shape of the radiated volume to the irregular shape of the tumour. IMRT technique does this and also modifies the intensity (fluence) of the radiation beam. That enables the IMRT to affect more complex target shapes while sparing the surrounding tissue to a degree. IGRT method uses imaging of the targeted volume and its critical structures before the treatment itself. The field work was carried out at the oncological ward of the hospital in České Budějovice. Course of the treatment went standardly at the linear particle accelerator with patients being fixed with the radiation mask and equipped with personal electric dosimeter. I compared my measurements with those of Mgr. Renáta Chylíková who worked with the previous type of the accelarator machine. Patients undergoing oncological treatment receive higher doses than are the limits but since it is for the medical purposes, the doses are not subjected to limitation. Aim of the work was to test the manufacturer's claim that the mimoos dosage on the newest accelerator should be 60% lower compared to the older type. By comparing the results I found out the claim seems to be true.
Selected Aspects of the Active Aging among Students of the University of the Third Age
Fialová, Eliška ; Šerák, Michal (advisor) ; Vojtko, Tibor (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with selected aspects of the concept of active aging in the context of education at the University of the Third Age. The thesis is divided into two parts - the first part consists of four chapters and presents basic thematic units (age and aging, theoretical concepts concerning age and aging, active aging) using domestic and foreign literature. The work defines the concepts of age, aging and older adult, summarizes related demographic contexts, and presents the Universities of the Third Age and their role in education of older adults. It also presents the concept of active aging and its development and three other concepts related to active aging (healthy, successful and productive aging) using mainly foreign sources. The concept of active aging is then brought closer to the point of view of several international organizations and, consequently, its key aspects are outlined. The second part of the thesis contains quantitative survey among students of the University of the Third Age and focuses on previously defined aspects, especially on participation in the labour market, participation in physical activities, participation in volunteering and other possibilities of active leisure time in old age. The collected data are then evaluated and interpreted. Keywords old age,...
