Genius loci and the new urban structure
Kozubíková, Aneta ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The topic of the thesis is a design of a new urban structure fitting to its context. The area is located in historical centre of city Trebic in district Starecka. It is defined by borders of streets Sucheniova, Hasskova and Viteslava Nezvala. Most of the historical structure were demolished during the sanitation in 80‘. Now the area is very open. That is unusual for historical centre. It has good development potential to build a new location with elements of modern life. Most of the area is taken by a bus station, parking and busy street. In my design I tried to return this area to pedestrians and adapt the public space to it. Karl square and surroundings has good civic amenities. It was important to not compete with functional layout and complete it to one unit. Design of the urban structure and public space is based on location of historical development. A part of the thesis is area Polanka which has similar features as part Starecka. This part is designed only as a vision.

The work tries to find further functional use of the, which would include rebuilding the currently unused former military premises at Lerchova street while respecting the current state of the surrounding buildings and greenery. The proposed solution of a new square design signifies urban space as the center of the Masaryk's Quarter. The design takes into account the current location of the tramway balloon loop, which is located in the middle of the area and shapes the unique character of the location. This element of transport is thus left at the heart of the entire urban design. It forms an islet made up of designed buildings with a square created inside. The intention is to build a lively core of the district attracting attention not only from a local populace.

It consists of Building permit documentation and part of Documentation for execution of the project, both of which are based on architectonic study created as part of course AG33 - Architectural Design Studio III. during previous studies. The building is situated in Brno city centre, district Brno – Střed, cadastral area (municipality of) Město Brno (610003). The project assumes that the main train station will be moved ca 800 meters to the south, leaving the current train station building unused. The project incorporates a conceptual study of a new purpose for the historic building and nearby railway junction, including its interconnection with near surroundings. Detailed solution describes a new hotel building, which will replace current newest wing of the train station. The main idea of the transformation is to keep as much of the historic building and valuable structures as possible, avoid increasing the building footprint and bring new life to the building and city centre. The attractiveness of the site will be enhanced by a new park located in the area currently occupied by the railway junction. The park will be connected to the 2nd floor of the Tesco shopping centre and Vaňkovka shopping gallery by a pedestrian bridge. Parking capacity will be provided by a new underground car park built below the railway junction. Additionally, modern version of the original tower above the main hall, which was destroyed during World War II, will be built. The new hotel building, as well as all repairs and changes (new tower) will follow a modern style, while respecting and enhancing the historic Art Nouveau building and genius loci of the place.
Design of sustainable urban structure of the 21st century in the Czech Republic
Gladiš, Filip ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The project focuses on the design of a sustainable urban structure in the southeastern part of an area called Červený kopec, in the land of former brick factory. This urban-planning study endeavors to create a suitable structure for the brick factory brownfield. There are relevant factors which influence the proposal, such as complicated terrain due to the mining history, inconsistency of the surrounding urban structure, improper traffic accessibility, and orientation towards the city centre. The concept is based on the legacy of the area. It builds on the slopes and steep hills and preserves two building of the old factory, which aims to become the centre of the whole area. It is also important to mention the nearby National Landscape Heritage Červený Kopec, which would be connected via a forest-park to the recreational area of Mahenova stráň. The outline of this park creates a soft partition between the city and the park. The whole area is accessible by traffic from three access points, one of which is a newly constructed crossroad with traffic lights connected to the street Jihlavská. This proposal emphasizes the effectivity of the land use, traffic hierarchy, human scale, and the importance of pedestrian movement. The area is characterized by central design, with the ethos of the brick factory. It creates a cultural centre for the whole district and sets the way for new development or restructuralization towards a sustainable future for the city of Brno.
Design of a sustainable urban structure - based on a medieval city - for the 21st century.
Čech, Daniel ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of the design was to create a functional urban structure in Náměšť nad Oslavou, which works on the principles of a modern city of the 21st century, but is also inspired by elements of a medieval city. So it is a marriage of the old with the new. On this basis, a compact functional structure was designed, which functions as a complement to the existing development and does not serve as a separate unit. In the new development, therefore, elements were designed to help improve the quality of life throughout the city. Emphasis was placed on the unique character of the development, a car-free center, plenty of green space and work with natural resources. The design has a lifespan of tens to hundreds of years. The proposed development can later be extended to the space, but also to the height.

Dance school Brno
Slawinski, Olena ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor) ; Pěnčík, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis is based on the project done in the fourth term of bacelor’s degree. The aim of the project is construction of a dancing school and elaboration of the relevant engineering documentation. The dancing school is to be located at the crossing of Milady Horakove and Prikop Streets, in Brno-Zabrdovice district. The main idea of the project is to incorporate the building into the area. Taking into consideration the architectural peculiarities of the area and the size of the building, it has been decided to divide visually the front of the school into two parts by means of different colouring and texture of the materials. The construction of a multi-storey building is an appropriate and logical solution as it will save the space and serve many purposes. That is why the initial idea of a dancing school only has been altered and as a result a music school and students’ apartments have appeared in the project. The dancing school is to fill the corner gap between existing residential buildings. The dancing school is a five-storey building with an underground parking for the staff and visitors. There is also building engineering services equipment and the boiler room in the basement. The ground floor has a multi-functional hall and a café, a spacious gallery which can be used for various exhibitions, as well as the cloakroom and toilets. The classrooms and dancing rooms are on the first floor in the eastern wing of the building while the headmaster’s office and the staff’s room are in the western wing. The second floor is fully intended for dancing and music practice. There is also a dancing room with all necessary facilities for disabled people. The laying-out of the third and fourth floors is identical and the premises are designed as students’ apartments including study rooms and a launderette.

Design of sustainable urban structure of the 21st century in the Czech Republic
Krčková, Zuzana ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The topic of the thesis is a design of an urban structure fitting into the 21st century amidst former military barracks in Brno Černá Pole. The area is square-shaped and defined by the borders of the streets Provazníkova, Mathonova, Bieblova, and Generála Píky. The area is currently divided among three owners: Ministry of Defence & Armed Forces, Resort of Justice, and National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB). The premise of the thesis is to build a new city quarter which would provide Brno's citizens with housing solutions, job opportunities, cultural and leisure centres not only for the new but also for the current inhabitants. The design includes also several blocks which aggregate multiple functions: housing, commercial premises, and administrative buildings. Generous volume of space has been given to public spaces, most prominently a square with a new town hall for Brno-sever, culture centre and a park. The examined area is situated between two busy roads which is why designing a suitable connection of the area and the overall traffic situation within the area was essential. This thesis aims to unify the area, cut short the traffic connections and create a compact city quarter close to the centre of Brno.
