Film amateurs club in Kutná Hora in 1978-1989
John, Viktor ; Czesany Dvořáková, Tereza (advisor) ; Česálková, Lucie (referee)
This bachelor thesis is dedicated to a film amateur club in Kutná Hora, also known as Kutná Hora's Film studio, between the years 1978-1989. The goal of this thesis is to describe the film amateur movement through the perspective of everyday life and to try to understand how a life of a film amateur could look like during normalization years in Czechoslovakia. This thesis answers questions of what was the role of amateurs organized in a club, how they were formed by the club, how they realized themselves apart from the filming itself, how they cooperated together or how they shot so-called societally-ordered films. The primary sources are State Regional Archives in Kutná Hora and interviews with longtime serving head of this club, Bohuslav Kučera. The first two chapters embed this thesis to a wider contextual framework withing amateur film which influenced the Film studio. In the next chapter we describe through archives and oral history method diverse activities and tasks which an amateur in Kutná Hora had to conduct on daily basis. Furthermore, the thesis is concerned with the actual creative practice within the club and with a short description of the development of the club after Velvet revolution and its further disorganization. This thesis shows the everyday life of amateur filmmakers in...
Post-war events in Czechoslovakia and its relation to the present
Dvořáková, Tereza ; Michela, Miroslav (advisor) ; Pýcha, Čeněk (referee)
The diploma thesis is devoted to the events that took place in Czechoslovakia after the end of the Second World War. The main topic of the thesis is limited to the years 1945-1948. The focus of the work is on three historical moments that shaped the restored republic and Czechoslovak society at the time, and the possibilities of their didactic interpretation in history classes. These are the displacement of the German population, decrees of the President of the Republic and retribution and people's judiciary. The first part of the work presents a historical interpretation of these events. The information that shaped the displacement and creation of the decrees is presented here. The course of post-war event is described here, the most important decrees and their functions are mentioned, and marginally, the work also touches on the settlement of the borderlands. The core part of the work is based on the analysis of textbooks for primary and secondary schools for the period from the 1990s to the present, which provides information on the development of interpretation and the degree of representation of individual topics. Next is the analysis of framework educational programs and selected school educational programs, which presents what opportunities the programs provide and whether the representation...
Late stalinism and the attempt at a social reform against the backdrop of life and work of Jan Prochazka
Bárta, Jan ; Michela, Miroslav (advisor) ; Mervart, Jan (referee) ; Czesany Dvořáková, Tereza (referee)
The aim of the presented doctoral thesis is to characterise the time period of Czechoslovak history between the late stalinism of the fifties and the attempt at reform of socialism in 1968 through the life and work of Jan Procházka. Procházka as a writer, screenwriter, office bearer and a political activist markedly influenced the political and cultural events of his time. The subject matter of this thesis is to map his activities and strategies with which he entered the discussions about the socialism reform in the sixties, when he fully established himself in the art milieu. The work is based on two approaches, the first being the theory of social capital by the french sociologist Pierre Bourdieu and second the cultural-historical approach. The main source is Prochazka's opus (all his written works) and other texts closely related to his persona (opinions of art critics, reactions of party directorate, daily press). This biography doesn't follow a typical scheme such as birth, life, work, death, but in accordance with the chosen theory the main character is inserted into the respective social fields. His functioning within these social spaces makes the content of the individual chapters, ranged chronologically. Moreover, the thesis deals with Prochazka's functioning in the Czechoslovak Youth...
Viktor Tauš's cinematic style and the Rats TV Series analysis
Ramzerová, Anna ; Czesany Dvořáková, Tereza (advisor) ; Szczepanik, Petr (referee)
Bachelor thesis Viktor Tauš's Cinematic Style and the Rats TV Series Analysis intends to present the content-related, and particularly the formal aspects of cinematic style of Viktor Tauš as the film and a television author. In the thesis I strive to demonstrate typical features of Tauš's work and subsequently interpret and analyse them based on the neo-formalist film approach applied by Kristin Thompson and David Bordwell. The primary analysis is focused on the television mini-series Rats (2020), whereas the rest of Tauš's author work - Canary (1999), Clownwise (2013), Blue Shadows (2016) and Monsters of the Shore (2019) - are utilised as references for main motifs of the thesis. At the outset of the thesis, I briefly examine the production context of the series and afterwards I deal with the social context as well. The main part of this thesis, the film style analysis, consists of three chapters. The most extensive one is dedicated to mise-en-scène of the series. The remaining two chapters are focused on its image and sound. Primarily sources are two semi-structured interviews with the Rats filmmakers - author Viktor Tauš and actor Cyril Dobrý.
The Phenomenon of Cross-dressing in Czech Cinema
Chaloupková, Petra ; Svatoňová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Czesany Dvořáková, Tereza (referee)
This thesis aims to address the forms of crossdressing appearing in Czech post- revolutionary cinema, and moreover, to approach images of the abovementioned cultural practice as a potential space for a subversion of the cisheteronormative system. At the same time, such portrayal of crossdressing can be percieved as an opportunity to strengthen existing gender norms. With the help of film analyses led by the thoughts coming from the gender studies, and with the usage of queer methodological tools, the text deals with the mechanisms of preventing the invasion of queerness, of regulating subversive activities, as well as of functional strategies for resisting the normative order. Lastly, it offers a typological breakdown of seven chosen feature films that are integrating the crossdressing element, and it evaluates them according to their openness to queer reading and the amount of freedom, which is granted to their gender-nonconforming characters. KEY WORDS Crossdressing, gender identity, transgender, queer, transition, disguise, femininity, masculinity
Hippocampal coding of positions of visual objects and prediction of their future interactions
Dvořáková, Tereza ; Levčík, David (advisor) ; Nekovářová, Tereza (referee)
The hippocampus is a crucial brain structure involved in spatial navigation. It contains populations of spatially sensitive cells as the place cells, head-direction cells, grid cells, border cells, or object-vector cells. These neurons together create a cognitive map of the environment that serves for navigation in space. The role of hippocampal cells in the encoding of positions of other objects has also been suggested. Other studies found so-called time cells in the hippocampus that are active during specific delays in a behavioral task and associated them with place cells. While there are recent studies researching the encoding of accessible objects' positions, the encoding of objects in the inaccessible space has lacked research. The neural representation of dynamic situations (that constitute the majority of real-world encounters) has also been only scarcely researched. We designed a behavioral task to study the learning of static and dynamic spatial visual scenes presented in the inaccessible space and combined it with single-unit electrophysiological recording from the CA1 area of the hippocampus of freely moving rats. Our results show that rats can discriminate both static and dynamic inaccessible spatial stimuli, and that they prefer dynamic over static stimuli. They can also generalize...

Changes of documentary films distribution at local cinemas in digital age
Černý, Martin ; Czesany Dvořáková, Tereza (advisor) ; Bauer, Šimon (referee)
(in English): This thesis deals, in frame of new film history, with the changes in Czech film distribution system connected to cinema digitalisation in the Czech Republic. Generally, the paper focuses on the influence the technological changes have on film distribution and its development in the Czech Republic. Considering the recent emergence of new genres and types of films, the work examines, on the example of documentaries, what effect these changes have on the variety of the Czech digital cinemas programme offer. The case study contained in the thesis explores a process of creating film programme in cinemas of average size Czech cities which do not have to compete with multiplexes. Selected programmers of these cinemas were interviewed in semi-structured interviews in terms of qualitative research, with the aim to determine the decisive factors influencing programming of documentary films in these cinemas. As seen from this thesis, the range of films in the distribution circuit has extended in two ways after the emergence of digitalisation and this development considerably affected the work of cinema programmers. Namely the wider availability of commercially successful films, generating great numbers in box office became a competition for the alternative films (documentaries included). Unlike...
