Development of Nuptiality in European countries since 1960 Abstract The aim of this thesis is to assess the development of marriage since 1960 and determine whether there has been convergence of nuptial behavior in European Union countries along with Switzerland and Norway. Convergence of nuptial behavior was evaluated, primarily on the basis of intensity indicator and the timing of marriage. The results show that the extension of the second demographic transition in all countries brings similar trends like reducing the intensity of marriage and postponement of marriage to a later age. Four countries were selected, the Czech Republic, Finland, France and Hungary. In these countries, convergence of nuptial behavior since 1990 were more analyzed. Development of attitudes towards marriage was studied in order to find out how the value changes contributed to changes in marriage behavior as suggested by the second demographic transition. In the Czech Republic and Hungary opinions have changed the most when it comes to marriage. The most liberal state was France and on the other hand, marriage in Finland was still attractive. Metamorphoses of intergenerational relationships in the family
Dvořáková, Andrea ; Tomeš, Igor (advisor) ; Víšek, Petr (referee)
(in English) The subject of this thesis is the metamorphosis of intergenerational relationships within the family, which occur in the context of the social process of aging. The contemporary demographic trend has its deeper socio-economic context that currently the social policy of the state does not sufficiently reflect. It is necessary to perceive demographic aging as a metamorphosis of life cycle. The aim of this thesis is to present the proposition that the quality of intergenerational relationships is based on the entire life cycle of an individual, and therefore the reciprocity in the family can be influenced by appropriate measures of social policy. The aim of the thesis is (based on the available theoretical knowledge, using secondary data analysis and comparison of the data) to confirm the broader context of demographic aging and draw attention to the fact that in the preparation of social and political reform measures must deal with all relevant processes and not just the area of pension insurance.
Rhetorical Figures in Visual Advertisements of Selected Fashion Houses
Dvořáková, Andrea ; Šafaříková, Radana (advisor) ; Švantner, Martin (referee)
Selected fashion houses that exclusively offer luxurious goods use specific form of promotion of their products. Each house usually holds onto traditions of its country and features essential for its own brand while creating new collections. From the point of view of neo-rhetoric it would be appropriate to analyze visual advertisements of the houses (Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry) if they create certain models via them. The main advertising campaigns for the spring/summer 2011 season were chosen for this comparison. Under the terms of observation and semiotic analysis of the fashion advertisement focused on rhetoric figures it can be proved that individual fashion houses aim their attention to how their potential customers' thinking is influenced by their advertising. The model of Roland Barthes is used for the analysis of chosen visual advertisements. Out of all rhetorical tropes the attention is paid to main four - visual metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche and irony. Fashion advertising meets unwritten norm that sets a target to convince the customer of suitability of the products for him.
