Rehabilitation Former Jaselsky Barracks Area in Brno

Revitalization of the former Jaselské barracks located in Brno in the area between Staňkova and Štefanikova street needs brand new project of urban structure and its functional scheme.New urban project of structure proceeds from pluses of block housing project and town houses. On the contrary it tries to eliminate its own minuses. The functional concept consists mainly of living function. This function is completed with daily life services. Because of bad noisy enviroment with public transport along Staňkova street it was necessary to replace block of flats with house for administrative and seniors or young couples. The main concept of this project is the idea to return to the living in communities. It tries to support social comunication and public life. And thus returning the desappearing local identity of the place. Project follows the aims of spacial planning policy in Brno by designing the leisure time centre for youth and public. That is the pivotal project of diploma thesis.

TOWNHOUSE ON THE WATERFRONT IN PŘEROV

Design of the town house in Přerov is created with respect to buildings in the immediate vicinity or the general character of the whole city and urban waterfront. The house is mainly for local people, not just an attraction. Considering the utilization the building offers less than four floors of residential space and administrative space. In back part of the plot and parterre area there is place for city amenities. The concept aimed to create a building that is first of all fully operational, with a predetermined program for local residents. House observes the street line and composition responds to the buildings in its vicinity. The arris of the house has the height accent but it does not contrasty exceed the surrounding buildings.

The evaluation of noise and its impact on attention

The diploma thesis analyzed the results of scientific studies that dealt with research into attention and its properties (such as stability, concentration or selectivity). The rigorous thesis complements the theoretical part with a chapter focusing on the phenomenon of noise and its effect on attention and concentration during the learning process. The empirical part of the diploma thesis described quantitative research, in which several different tests of attention were used. The research question was whether and how the attention (specifically concentration) and possibly also the performance of high school students changed based on their use of earplugs to reduce the perception of disturbing elements from the environment or lack thereof in the process of intentional learning. The empirical part of the rigorous thesis also works with the topic of attention and concentration during the learning process but brings to the original research a view obtained again in a quantitative way - for data collection, however, this time the method of online questionnaire was used. Attention is a complex ability that contributes significantly to the process of intentional learning. This rigorous thesis is an extension of the original diploma thesis, which at the theoretical level focused on the types and theories of attention related to the effective management of school demands. More specifically, it focused on the developmental period of older school age and adolescence, i.e. on secondary school pupils - this target group was kept in the rigorous work as well. The diploma thesis analyzed the results of scientific studies that dealt with research into attention and its properties (such as stability, concentration or selectivity). The work was focused on examining whether a simple compensatory aid - here it is earplugs - can improve concentration and stability of attention during learning. She also briefly mentioned the physiological basis of the functioning of this cognitive process. The conclusion of the theoretical part of the diploma thesis mapped the current possibilities of attention diagnostics, especially in children and adolescents. Selected disorders of attention (e.g. ADD, ADHD), which (not only) are closely related to learning, were also mentioned in passing. The context of sleep deprivation in the lives of adolescents

Starting point is the concept of sleep deprivation. The thesis is mainly concerned in the impact on the life of adolescents. The theoretical part of the thesis analyses results of scientific studies that dealt with the relationship between sleep deprivation and various cognitive processes, such as thinking, memory, and decision making. Thesis also includes a brief outline of sleep as an objective physiological process, further defines the definition of sleep deprivation and shortly explains the importance of adolescence. The core of the thesis is consisted of impacts, risks and practical consequences of a lack of sleep in daily functioning that is not related just to juveniles. Finally, the thesis focuses on possible ways which minimize the effects of sleep deprivation. The empirical part involves a proposal of the research design that deals with individual problem arising from the general part of the work.
