Nursing care of a patient with iatrogenic perforation of oesophagus

The theme of the final thesis is the nursing process in a patient with iatrogenic perforation of the esophagus in the Department of Geriatric Medicine. I consider the chosen topic to be very interesting, but not too often presented from the viewpoint of a nurse and nursing. Based on a single patient case study, the objective was to analyze the care provided for a patient with iatrogenic perforation of the esophagus in the Department of Geriatric Medicine. Nursing care was focused on the care of a geriatric patient with an esophagostomy, mediastinal drain and cognitive deficits. Another goal was to demonstrate that even in the geriatric department, very good results can be achieved by providing a good patient care. The last objective was to compare the procedures provided by nursing care in the Czech Republic and abroad. In my final thesis, I used a case study method, implemented by a nursing case in a patient in the geriatric department and aftercare of a regional type medical facility. Nursing rounds and their significance from the perspective of nurses

This bachelor thesis is devoted to problems of nursing rounds. Nursing rounds are of great importance in terms of quality of care nurses and nursing staff should provide. Moreover, they are very important from a patient's perspective. Integral care of his health and nursing process itself give a basis for creating a preview for care provided generally in health. Since every medical facility is different and procedures change in the theoretical part I have described how it should be properly carried out, how nursing rounds should look like and what should be an integral element. Then, on these grounds I built the entire outline of his thesis. I used a search of the literature in PubMed, Medline databases, information search engines UK and compared theoretical data of nursing rounds with the actual situation in Czech hospitals. I have determined objectives and hypothesis on the basis of practical experience according to the theoretical part of this thesis and in relation to the research problem. The topic of the bachelor thesis is the nursing process of a patient diagnosed Uterus myomatosus. The chosen theme seems to be a truly current issue as the number of operations, particularly hysterectomy due to Uterus myomatosus, is on the top chart position (due to statistics of Registr komplikací gynekologické laparoskopie). Myomas are tumors hormonally connected with estrogenes. They are significant for every fourth woman in her productive age, most common at about 40 years of age. The goal of thesis is based on a specific case study of a patient of department of gynecology, who was supposed to have her uterus removed through laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy. Furthermore I wanted to inspect what is the education of such patients in terms of their stay at department of gynecology, particularly before and after the operation. The role of nurses in patient education prior to anesthesia for surgical procedures in orthopedics

The thesis is focused on the role of nurse in patient education prior anaesthesia in surgical procedures in orthopaedic. Description of this role is based on the experience at the orthopaedic clinic and problems related to it are seen in the results of survey. The aim was to assess the level and effectiveness of patient education done by nurse before anaesthesia, measure the level of satisfaction and patient awareness before surgery, assess the quality and content of education provided by nurse and identify the current competencies of nurses in patient education before anaesthesia. Data for the research survey were obtained through two questionnaires designed for nurses working at the orthopaedic clinic and for patients who have undergone scheduled intervention in this clinic. The most important finding of the research results was crossing the competencies of nurses in the preoperative patient education because the lack of visits by anaesthesiologist. Evidence-based practice in the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers in intensive care patients

Pressure ulcers are one of the quality indicators of nursing care, their presence reduces the quality of life of the patient, leads to a prolongation of hospitalization, increases costs of care and affects the budget of a health care facility. European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel or the European Advisory Board on issues of bedsores (EPUAP) leads and supports all European countries in their efforts to prevent and treat pressure sores. EPUAP working group has developed guidelines for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers. One of the important factors in providing the highest quality of nursing care is the ability of nurses to practically use the research results in the nursing process. This thesis deals with the effective use of the latest advances in the prevention of pressure sores and their treatment in the intensive care in Czech Republic. The main objective of this thesis is to explore the latest methods of prevention of pressure sores and care, according to Evidence-based practice principles EPUAP and analyze their practical implementation in selected intensive care wards. Motivational and demotivational factors in the profession of a general nurse

This thesis discusses the motivational and demotivational factors that influence the work of nurses and their sense of satisfaction. The aim of the research is to map the motivational and demotivational factors that affect work performance of the Kolin Regional Hospital. The research's chose quantitative method was done by survey. The questionaire and it's contents were prepared by the author. The creation of the questionaire was based upon several similar surveys. Based on the author's research, it was found that interpersonal relationships among nurses were among the most powerful motivational factors; conversely, dysfunctional interpersonal relationships were the strongest motivational factors for changing employers. Another one of the strongest motivational factors was positive feedback from the patients. Since the research was quantitative in nature and covered the entire hospital, it is the author's opinion that the study should be repeated periodically and further focus on individual departments to better determine motivational and demotivational factors that affect work performance and overall job satisfaction. Background: This thesis deals with motivation of nurses to work in facilities providing care for clients diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Caring for a client who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease is very mentally challenging. Therefore, in this environment is very important motivation of nurses who provide care to clients every day. The theoretical part is focused on mapping the issues of Alzheimer's and the specifics of care for clients who have suffered from this disease. Then there are areas of motivation, work motivation and job satisfaction. Finally, it is discussed the topic of helping syndrome and mental demands of the nursing profession. Nursing care of patients after a surgical procedure for a narrowed carotid artery

Abstract Surgeries of narrowed carotid arteries rank among the most common vascular medical procedures. Narrowing the carotid artery on the basis of creation of an atherosclerotic plaque is also the most common cause of stroke. It causes an insufficient blood flow to certain parts of the brain and can cause damage and lead to irreversible changes. This disease belongs among the lifestyle ones, involving a number of both controllable and uncontrollable risk factors. Prevention and timely operational and quality postoperative care are very important; the latter helps prevent fatal consequences leading to permanent disability. The aim of my thesis is to demonstrate nursing care for patients after the surgery of a narrowed carotid artery. The empirical section is based on qualitative research in the form of two case studies which describe the postoperative state of health and its progress. I point out the specifics of the nursing care for patients after the surgery of narrowed carotid artery in detail. The result of the bachelor's thesis is an overview of postoperative care which is beneficial for both general nurses and patients themselves. Practicing Nurses' View Of Nursing Students In The Context Of Clinical Practicum

Irreplaceable role in preparing students for the future careers have nurses, who are accompanies their future colleagues during the teaching of nursing procedures and in adopting a role of nurse. The bachelor work deals with evaluations of qualified nurses of nursing students in the context of clinical practice. The basic research target is the expectation of the qualified nurses to the nursing students. There are sectional research targets and questions, which maps the strategies, which qualified nurses use for easier collaborate with nursing students in the context of nursing practice; identified nurse's ways and areas, which they used for evaluation of nursing students; analysed the nurse's opinion for independence of nursing students; evaluated the reaction of nurses for innovation, which are the part of the lessons of nursing students; analysed competence and characteristics, which nurses assume for their ideal of "good nurse". adaptation process of nurses working in intensive care unit

The aim of this thesis is to study the adaptation process in the intensive care units. The theoretical section analysed the adaptation process of nurses with particular focus on methodical instructions, legislation and other specific aspects of the adaptation process, including necessary education for the ICU nurses. The aim of the practical section was to examine, whether the adaptation processes are done properly and are long enough. We focused not only on the point of view of the management, but also on the feedback from the new employees. A survey was done among the employees of accredited and non-accredited healthcare facilities. By the evaluation of our data, we have managed to accept or deny various hypotheses that were included in our work. Our survey has shown that both executive nurses and new employees think the adaptation process usually proceeds correctly and thoroughly and they do not want to make any changes. Our data have also been used to compare adaptation processes of accredited and non-accredited healthcare facilities. Based on the data from our survey, we have been able to determine, that the adaptation process is significantly better at facilities which are accredited. On the contrary, the nurses working in non-accredited facilities are less satisfied and would welcome changes...
