Light Guide Evaluation
Omishore, Ayodeji ; Katunský,, Dušan (referee) ; Darula,, Stanislav (referee) ; Mohelníková, Jitka (advisor)
Light guide is a tubular skylight with mirrored internal surface. It is a lighting device bringing daylight into the interior of a building without windows or into rooms with insufficient daylight. It presents the potential for energy savings, opens the possibility to use places that are not well lit and offers opportunities for improving the visual comfort of the indoor environment. This thesis reviews the potential of light guide system as a daylighting approach in building and presents results of experiments on performance of tubular skylight prototype. The main task of the thesis is focused on comparison of traditional light guide system and newly developed prototype, examination of its light transmittance and efficiency as well as its thermal behaviour in order to find possible improvements for applications in buildings.
Use of Hollow Light Guides for Illumination
Zajíček, Josef ; Ing. Stanislav Darula,CSc. (referee) ; Baxant, Petr (advisor)
This master’s thesis describes the using of hollow light guides for inner-space lightning. The project describes the legislation requirements for the inner-space day lightning. The usages of hollow light guides are also discussed. Other goal of the project is to describe computer programs, which are modeling the function of hollow light guides. The practical part of the thesis is describing the process and the results of the measuring, which was done on a model of a family house with hollow light guides.

Měření spektrálních vlastností vnitřního denního osvětlení a úrovně osvětlení v místnostech s ohledem na vizuální a biologickou odezvu člověka
Hartman, Peter ; Hanuliak, Peter ; Maňková, Lucia ; Fabian, Miroslav ; Hraška, Jozef ; Darula, Stanislav
Slovak standards and regulations for design and evaluation of indoor daylight in residential buildings require average values of the Daylight Factor (D) in two check points as basic criterion. In offices, the daylighting is evaluated in workplaces which can be often situated far from window. In this paper are presented results of daylighting measurements in deeper positions in three model rooms with different internal coloured surfaces which are exposed only to natural daylight during cloudy days. Positions are investigated from point of view of visual and biological response performance, represented by circadian efficiency, which may be significantly influenced by indoor surface’s colour selection.
STN 73 0580 vs. prEN xxxx - Studie rozdílů denního osvětlení v půdních prostorách
Kondáš, Kristián ; Darula, Stanislav ; Lopušniak, Martin
Daylighting design expects significant changes in the near future, although their impacts on the practice and possible orientation are currently under developing. The authors responsible for the elaboration of the new EN Standard for Daylighting of buildings suggest recommendations which will also take into account climatological aspects in daylighting design. The aim of this study is to point out the main differences between the recently used Slovak standard and the proposal of its potential replacement. The paper focuses to that parts of the standards, which are dedicated to the calculation of the Daylight Factor, while the methods are tested especially for attic spaces.
Zkušenosti s návrhem a obnovou umělé oblohy ve světelnětechnické laboratoři SAV
Kittler, Richard ; Darula, Stanislav
Daylight laboratories are equipped with artificial skies for experimental research and testing daylight conditions in specific architectural models as well as for educational purposes. The latter often are meant only as attractive features to be shown to university visitors and students interested in architectural design or window applications but seldom are used for daylight research as measuring devices because these are not calibrated or are not modeling the standard ISO/CIE sky types. During the sixtieth of the last century was designed and built in the SAS Daylight laboratory an artificial sky simulating the CIE Overcast and unity (Lambertian) skies and then the recently CIE Clear Sky with the artificial sun. The representation of sky luminance patterns as well as proportional parallel sunbeam modeling was designed and calibrated in documented private protocols. After forty years since the Bratislava artificial sky was in service this laboratory equipment became almost a historical remnant with its artificial lighting by incandescent reflectors and robust theatrical dimming system. New technology progress in artificial light sources, reduction of energy demands and computer checking possibilities as well as new knowledge in daylight science in the determination of new ISO/CIE sky types form new requirements for designing or refurbishing artificial skies. In this respect older experience and new ideas are summarised in this paper.
IEA a retrofit osvětlení v budovách
Darula, Stanislav ; Malíková, Marta
The existing performed building stock in individual countries is very large and a lot of buildings require a retrofit of lighting systems to be more energy efficient, comfortable for users and adaptable to the visual work requirements. Activities orientated to looking for a system of requirements, criteria and parameters for retrofit of lighting systems in commercial buildings are main interest of the IEA SHC Task 50 since 2013. Because interiors are illuminated by daylight and artificial light, the research of the IEA SHC Task 50 couples effects from both as the best. The result of the collective work should be also an application "Lighting Retrofit Adviser", a tool for illuminating engineers. This contribution gives latest information about the activities of the IEA SHC Task 50.
