Evaluation of forest calamites using the remote sensing data
Chrást, Josef ; Štych, Přemysl (advisor) ; Jedlička, Jan (referee)
Evaluation of forest calamities using the remote sensing data Abstract The objective of this paper is to evaluate possibilities of medium-spatial resolution satellite data assimilation for monitoring of the forest disturbances. The aim of the study is to monitore the bark beetle outbreak in the Šumava Mountains. For this purpose were used eight MERIS scenes from 2002 to 2009. Spectral response of the damaged spruce stands has been analyzed on the based of the values of selected vegetation indices (NDVI, LAI, LAI.Cab, fCover, fAPAR and three newly defined indices) and their temporal progress. The results were compared with values for healthy forests. The values of spectral indices have shown the ability of data MERIS to monitor forest disturbances at regionale scale.
The North America in Early Maps
Jílková, Petra ; Bayer, Tomáš (advisor) ; Chrást, Josef (referee)
The North America in Early Maps Abstract The objective of this thesis is to analyze selected map works of European cartographers h showing the territory of North America in the period from 16. to 19. century. Using the cartometric and semiotic methods the map attributes are analyzed focusing the detection and description of the cartographic projection. Next, within the analysis of the topographic content the map symbols and the language of the map are discussed and interesting geographical mistakes of the authors are noticed. On the basis of the partial analyzes the progression of the continent depiction is documented with emphasis on the progression of map symbols and on the change of the shape of the continent in the given period. Key words: North America, cartometry, semiotics, European cartography, discovery, detectproj

Influences and receptions of older and contenmporary cartographic handworks in cartographic handworks of 16 - 18th century
Chrást, Josef ; Bayer, Tomáš (advisor) ; Grim, Tomáš (referee)
Influences and receptions of older and contemporary cartographic handworks in cartographic handworks of 16-18th century Abstract The master thesis deals with mutual inspiration and copying maps and map outputs among the authors of important cartographic works of the Czech lands from the period 1526-1720. The aim of the thesis is to draft and test a methodology for analyzing degree of similarity between two different old maps. Based on the results of analysis it will be possible to say whether one of the map is a complete or a partial copy of the other map. The main part of the thesis is devoted to the draft of the methodology that allows comparison of two different old maps showing approximately the same territory, originating from a similar period and having generally the same scale. The practical part of the thesis is focused on verification of the methodology based on the analysis of the oldest cartographic handworks of Moravia from the Map Collection of Charles University in Prague and another Moravian map collections. The aim is to find "similar" maps and determine the degree of their similarity. Keywords: history of cartography, old maps, Moravia, Jan Amos Komensky, Pavel Fabricius
