Statistical analysis of the influence of body height of ATP players on the success of their game
Nechanický, Michal ; Kočíb, Tomáš (advisor) ; Carboch, Jan (referee)
Title: Statistical analysis of the influence of body height of ATP players on the success of their game Objectives: The aim of my bachelor's thesis is to determine whether a player's body height affects his position in the ATP rankings and whether it affects the effectiveness of his serve. At the same time, I will investigate the possible influence of surfaces on player's serve statistics and his position in the ATP rankings. Methods: The mentioned monitoring was determined on a sample of TOP 200 players of the ATP ranking. Mathematical-statistical analysis of the data was carried out by collecting the data reported on the official ATP website. The results of my investigation were compared with similar characteristics of selected professional literature. Results: Mathematical-statistical analysis showed a loose correlation between a player's body height and his position in the ATP rankings. Furthermore, a stronger correlation was shown between serve statistics and ranking and between serve statistics and player height. This correlation changes with the type of surface, where the most closeness to the player's position in the ATP ranking or his body height is shown by the serve statistics of the player serving on a hard surface. Perception training in tennis
Mrázová, Kristina ; Carboch, Jan (advisor) ; Malý, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Perception training in tennis Objectives: The main goal of this paper is to assess the impact of perceptual-cognitive training on the development of anticipatory skills in expert and novice tennis players. Methods: The result of this paper was obtained using an experiment based on the test-retest method. It is a randomized controlled trial in which the intervention groups underwent three weeks of perceptual-cognitive training in addition to the test and retest process. All parts of the experiment (test, perceptual training, retest) were based on watching edited video recordings of tennis serves using the temporal occlusion technique. The tracked variable in the experiment was the relative accuracy of responses. Results: In the intervention group of expert tennis players, a significant difference was reported between test and retest performance (p < 0.01; d = 1.05). No statistical significance was observed in the intervention group of tennis novices or in any of the control groups. Since the intervention and control groups of expert tennis players did not differ in the test stage, the observed increase in performance was attributed to the effect of applied perceptual-cognitive training. The statistically significant increase in relative accuracy of responses between test and retest occurred...
Anticipation sources for goalkeeper during a penalty kick in football
Kraus, Tomáš ; Carboch, Jan (advisor) ; Vampola, Jindřich (referee)
Title: Anticipatory sources of football goalkeepers when facing penalty kicks Objectives: The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to investigate what anticipatory cues professional soccer goalkeepers perceive and take into account when facing a penalty kick. Methods: The bachelor thesis employed a qualitative research design, specifically a case study. Professional and semi-professional football goalkeepers playing in the second and third highest Czech football leagues were selected as participants. All goalkeepers are currently active players, with ages ranging from 22 to 27. The interview method was used, consisting of 16 questions and lasting approximately 20-30 minutes, during which the players reflected on key factors related to the topic of anticipation in football goalkeepers during penalty kicks. The second phase of the research involved transcription of the interviews and their analysis. Results: The bachelor thesis described individual topics that highlight additional sources of anticipation explored by football goalkeepers during penalty situations. Football goalkeepers examine various contextual and kinematic information sources that assist them in anticipating shots during standard situations. It is also evident that goalkeepers do not fully utilize the potential of anticipation, which can...
Visual constrains and feedback in the badminton serve
Ďurčo, Dominik ; Carboch, Jan (advisor) ; Pravečková, Petra (referee)
Title: Visual constrains and feedback in the badminton serve Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to investigate the effect of short serve feedback constraints in badminton players. Methods: The data were experimentally collected. Twelve players underwent measurement of backhand serve. Every player performed four series of 20 serves. First and fourth were played with occlusion, second and third in normal conditions. Their results were recorded on a video camera and then evaluated by indirect analysis. Results: Overall, the players recorded an average distance of the shuttlecock impact point from the service line in the occluded conditions of 40,7±22,2 cm in the normal conditions of 25,2±17,9 cm. These results showed a significant effect of occlusion on short backhand serve t(9)=4,98, p<0,001 and with a strong effect of d=1,44. Out of 960 total backhand serves, 63 were ruled out. Players played 11 outs in occluded conditions, 52 in normal conditions. Keywords: visual perception, occluded vision, motor skills, proprioception, game performance
Comparison of selected parameters in Barbora Krejčíkova's matches at the French Open 2021
Kobera, Jakub ; Kočíb, Tomáš (advisor) ; Carboch, Jan (referee)
Title: Comparison of selected parameters in Barbora Krejčíkova's matches at the French Open 2021 Objectives: The main objective of this thesis is comparing the selected parameters in each Barbora Krejčíkova's match at the French Open 2021. I compare following parameters: the pace of the game, the count of the selected rallies (after serve from the left side and from the right side, after first serve and second serve), the count of winners in the selected rallies and the place from where the winner was played (baseline or net). Methods: The main method in this thesis is notational system analyses. It is an indirect observation of video records. The records contain all seven matches with Barbora Krejčíková at the French Open 2021. The monitored variables are the pace of the game (count as rally time divided by number of shots in that rally), how many of selected rallies was played after: serve from left side, serve from right side, first serve, second serve and count of winners from the selected rallies played from the baseline or from the net. I select the rally in case that there are four or more shots played in the rally. Results: In the three set matches Krejčíková is less points ahead than in the two set matches. In the first rounds the percentage of rallies that I can select increase with each...
Anticipation sources and interaction during the softball batting
Joska, Marek ; Pravečková, Petra (advisor) ; Carboch, Jan (referee)
Title: Anticipation sources and interaction during the softball hitting. Objectives: The objectives of this diploma thesis are to explore what kinds of anticipatory resources elite softball players perceive and which ones they take into consideration when hitting against a pitcher. Methods: The data used in this diploma thesis were obtain by qualitative type of research specifically a case study. The sources of information for this case study are personal interviews between me and group of eight elite Czech softball players. The interviews had eight open questions and take from 25 to 40 minutes. The interviews were analysed with aim to gain some new knowledge that could be apply to similar cases. All of eight requested players are members of the Czech national team or Czech national team under 23. They are active players in age 25,5  3,5 years. This information is valid as of 2021. Results: In this diploma thesis were selected and described anticipation information sources, that provide a valuable information leading to anticipation of further pitch. The players were considering which anticipatory source is the most important for them. In addition to the sources of anticipation, contextual information sources that affect the batsman's tactics in the box and his reasoning were also described during...

Title: Individual perception and performance changes during 3 week intervention programme with beginners golfers Objectives The study aimed to evaluate the effect of a 3 week coaching program on golf skills (full swing and putting) and the perception of golf motor skills. It also sought to monitor participants' perceived difficulty and commitment levels using training diaries and investigate their subjective goal-setting and strategies for achieving them. Methods The study involved 43 participants who were divided into four groups, three of which had 11 participants and one with 10 participants. The participants were engaged in this project for 5 weeks in total. There was an MSRS questionnaire one week before the pre-test, then 3 weeks of intervention, post-test and again MSRS after one week after the tournament. Participants completed a reflective post-block diary after every week. The training diaries were used to identify players understanding of general golf instruction and the perception of golf motor skills. Results According to the quantitative results of this study, there was a significant difference in MSRS between pre-and and post-test. There was also a significant difference in perceived difficulty, however, no significant difference was found over the weeks in mental effort. There was a...
