Typical vocabulary of written cooking recipes in the Czech National Corpus

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to describe the typical vocabulary of contemporary written culinary recipes in the corpora of the Czech National Corpus. The main assumption is that culinary recipes have their own specific vocabulary. A typical vocabulary of culinary recipes is represented by a list of keywords (nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs). Based on the research, it can be stated that culinary recipes have their typical vocabulary. It consists of the names of various types of ingredients, meals, activities related to the preparation of meals, cooking aids and equipment, among others partitives associated with the culinary context (especially ingredients) and the names of organic substances related to good lifestyle. The vocabulary of the internet communication of the domestic animals' breeders

Abstact: The thesis examines the vocabulary of breeders on social networks. For a period of three months, we've been collecting specific language resources in the group of breeders and provides a word-forming and semantic analysis of the found words, including examples of use. It also brings special dictionary of breeder's slang. Based on selected lexemes, it tests the acceptability/unacceptability of specific words outside this interest group. It verifies the hypothesis that these lexemes will be assessed by the non-breeding group as less acceptable or unacceptable.
The examination in the Czech language for permanent residence in the Czech republic

This thesis deals with the examination in the Czech language for permanent residence in the Czech Republic. The aim is to identify its basic characteristics, the success rate of the participants and whether it corresponds to the required A1 level. In the theoretical part, basic theoretical concepts of migration and integration and conditions for granting permanent residence in different countries are presented. In the practical part, the analysis itself is elaborated. It consists mainly in the comparison of the exam with the publication Referenční popis češtiny pro účely zkoušky z českého jazyka pro trvalý pobyt v ČR - úrovně A1, A2 and evaluation of its integration potential. Included in the considerations are data on average results and success rates of candidates in the period January 24, 2018 - April 24, 2019. From a didactic point of view, the thesis also deals with the available preparatory materials: a handbook Připravte se s námi na zkoušku z českého jazyka pro trvalý pobyt v ČR. Teaching Czech language exampled by bilingual Schulverein Komensky schools

The topic of the submitted thesis is the teaching of the Czech language at the Schulverein Komensky in Vienna as a part of the bilingual teaching system and the Centrope Schooling model. The Schulverein Komensky is an institution providing education in the Czech language to pupils aged between 6 and 18. It started its activities in 1872. Nowadays, it operates as a kindergarten, a primary school and a grammar school (secondary education school type called Realgymnasium) and is a local center for the compatriots. The thesis provides insight into the history of the association, it deals with the Czech minority in Vienna and its tradition, including the issue of education in the Austrian environment. Based on a practical analysis, several lessons were described and reconstructed, which were personally attended by the author of the thesis during the first half of the school year 2017/2018. The main research methods used were observation (teaching in the classroom), personal records and consultations with the local teachers. The key point of the thesis is the consideration of bilingualism of children in education.
New Compound-words with Numerals in the first part

The bachelor thesis focuses on the use of numerals in the first part of new (neology) compound-words. Compound-words were excerpted from dictionaries Slovník neologizmů 1, 2 and from the Czech neology database Neomat. On the basis of that material it was described which particular numerals and which types of numerals are used in neologisms, which formal restrictions and variants in word-formation bases (such as the origin of language of second parts, competition of morpheme variants) can occur. Compound-words were assessed with regard to their word-class validity, way of word-formation and semantic-syntactic relations between their components. The second parts of compound-words were also considered, as well as the thematic sphere of use of compound-words and their potential marked character. Linguistics terms in mass media (Study of determinologization)

The diploma thesis focuses on linguistic terminology in current mass media discourse. The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the occurrences of linguistic terms in the corpus SYN2013PUB and to describe their function, meaning and context and the process of their determinologization. The first part concerns the existing approaches to terms and terminology, the specifics of the linguistics terminology, the function of the terms in the professional style and their use in the journalistic style. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the relations between general lexicon and terminology, terminologization and determinologization. The analysis of the examples indicates, how to follow the determinologization in the texts. The examples are classified according to the indicators of determinologization. These indicators are typical means of journalistic style (which contains terms), journalistic innovation of the collocability, specific ways of explaining the terms and the semantics or formal modifications of the terms. The determinologization is considered an unfinished process, accomplished for diverse corpus occurrences of linguistic terms in various extent.
Czech historical facts in teaching Czech for foreigners

anglicky: This master's thesis deals with czech historical facts within teaching czech in Czech School TGM in Chicago. It also includes a perception of czech facts inside the group of Czech compatriots. This community is not numerous as was the case in the half of the 19th century nevertheless its cultural life is still very interesting and is worth the attention. This Czech community is varied because of generation before 2nd World War as migrants from 90's of the 20th centrury. They all have a need to preserve and pass cultural identity to their descendants. The theoretical part of the thesis primarily explains key word facts and its position inside culture and teaching. It also mentions the word heritage language and its transfer. This part deals with basic informations about czech community in Chicago and about a large number of this group activities. The empirical part of the thesis describes and analyzes an author's experiences from teaching in summer czech school in 2017. This part is based on analysis of preparations a study plan, an analysis of diary record from Czech lessons and also an analysis of a questionnaire filled in by participants of summer Czech school and members of Czech community. UP - DOWN Orientational Schema and Its Manifestation in the Czech Somatic Frazeology

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the UP - DOWN orientational scheme and its manifestation in the Czech somatic phraseology. After a theoretical introduction focused on the Polish and American conception of Cognitive Linguistics, the research part deals with the analysis of the phraseological units. Is checking whether UP/ TOP is POSITIVE and DOWN/ DOWN is negative. Attention is paid to the frequency of occurrences of the names of the individual parts of the body represented by the scheme. The assumption is that the UP/ TOP will be represented by the somatisms HEAD as the highest point of the human body.
Neologism in the linguistic, media and common picture of the world

The aim of the interdisciplinary doctoral dissertation is to answer the research question What is a neologism? The research was inspired by the methodology relying on three types of data that J. Bartmiński specifies for studying stereotypes as part of the language picture of the world, i. e. systemic, textual and empirical data. Neologisms are expounded by confronting the linguistic, media and everyday picture of the world with the use an explicative characteristic including connotations of the concept. After introducing the neologism within the context of words marked stylistically with respect to time, the exposition is structured according to (non- homogeneous) criteria, on the basis of which neologisms in the reviewed literature are defined: the criterion of existence, the criterion of time, the lexicographic criterion, the psychological criterion, the structural criterion, the criterion of variety and the criterion of instability and stability. The media image of neologism was examined using the qualitative-quantitative method of content analysis in 93 media texts from 2006 and 2007, and 2016 and 2017. Internationalisms and neologisms in contemporary cultural and political news

The bachelor thesis is devoted to description and analysis of contemporary vocabulary of selected Czech journals, that are focused on news from the political and cultural field. The aim of this thesis is to prove the usage of lexice internationalism and neologism and to characterize them closely from the process point of view and the level of adaptation in the Czech language, the specificity of the creation of the words and lexice semantics including its pragmatical mening. The thesis will use the methodology based on the theory of key words and on this basis selected naming (lexems) relevant for the field of politics and culture will be selected from the Neologism dictionary 1,2 and also from the Academic dictionary of foreign words. Occurrence and usage of selected lexems will be subsequently documented in journals MF DNES and Lidove noviny within a period of three months: June, July and August 2017. Excerpted material will be used to compare semantics and style characteristics of key names as they presented in the mentioned dictionaries and the realized in the texts, prospective updated will be evaluated.
