Hrdlička, Vojtěch ; Zdichynec, Jan (advisor) ; Bobková, Lenka (referee)
Annotation/Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with the history and the development of cistercian abbey in Waldsassen since its origin in 1133 to 1420. This year is upper time limit of this thesis. This thesis should cover the reasons of foundation of this monastery, its imfluence, power in the Cheb region and his financial and economic relations and also changes inside monastic community. Important are social relations among particular members of the convent, especially part of the abbot like director of the monastery is pointed out. Author attempted to show connections of abbey in politics and participation off its members in the forming of history of Central Europe. Although Waldsassen was active in the Holy Roman Empire and developed its relations with the territories of Empire (Bavaria, Upper Palatinate, Egerland), it had the connections to the lands of the Crown of Bohemia and their rulers as well. It is the reason, why the most extensive chapter of this thesis is the fourth one about own history of abbey, the fifth one describes the relations of monastery with the czech sovereigns, but the connections of rulers of lands of the Crown of Bohemia were usually more feeble than these with the rulers of Roman empire.
Power and glory of the house of the Ronower. The career of Ronower in the Luxembourg era
Ostatní větve prokázaly větší životaschopnost, Krušinové a Bítovští z Lichtenburka žili ještě v 2.polovině 16.století, Berkové z Dubé a páni z Lipé dokonce ještě o půl století déle.
Lord Menhart of Hradec in the Swirl of Events of the First Half of the 15th Century
Miczanová, Veronika ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Zilynská, Blanka (referee)
This Bachelor thesis is dedicated to one representative of a significant Southern Czech noble family of Lords of Neuhaus, Meinhard (1398 - 1449). Meinhard belonged to moderate Utraquists, became an ally of the Taborites and later an important person in the negotiations with Sigismund of Luxemburg. He also played a major role in the period of interregnum after the death of Albert, Archduke of Austria and in the period of the reign of George of Poděbrady which he opposed later in his life. His sudden death was uncertain. So far, no extensive individual study about Meinhard of Neuhaus has been published. The thesis uses materials from contemporary literature and edited sources, or, as circumstances allow, takes account of non-printed sources stored in National Archive in Prague and the documents from the Lords of Neuhaus stored in State Regional Archive in Třeboň in the section Jindřichův Hradec.
Czech-Meissen Frontier in the Time of the Reign of Jan of Luxembourg
Machková, Irena ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Žalud, Zdeněk (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the process of creating power-political support by the governor and focuses on the border area of the north-west and partly also north Bohemia. It is trying to present methods of the Czech monarch with which he could overcome a strong interior opposition including leading members of the Czech aristocracy such as John of Vartemberk and create a system of power support with which he could accomplish plans of his internal and foreign policies. It is therefore trying to determine to what extent the Czech king, John of Bohemia, employed Western European feudal principles, dynastic policy and also influence of municipality as a means of creating support in strategically important regions and how successful he was in his activity. A view of the expansive activities of the Czech governors in the Czech-Meissen area in 11-13th century and in connection with it also a brief outline of the expansive concern of the Premyslid dynasty competitors on the other side of the border, margraves of Meissen and since 1248 also landgraves of Thuringia of House of Wettin is also a part of this bachelor's thesis. Key Words: Jan of Luxembourg, Czech-Meissen frontier, nord-west and nord Bohemia, royal town Ústí nad Labem, house of Wettin, nobility, process of formation of the power of the...

Hrachovec, Petr ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Zilynská, Blanka (referee)
This diploma work deals with two commanderies of the knights of Saint John in the Zittau region located in the Upper Lusatia i.e. in the present Saxony in Zittau itself and in the township of Hirschfelde northeast of Zittau. I have focused on primarily on the 16th century that has not been treated adequately in the professionalliterature. In the first part of this diploma work, which is the shortest one, I have assessed the present historiography and both published and unpublished sources and manuscripts dealing with the aforementioned topic i.e. dealing with the two commanderies in question in the Middle Ages that have survived in good condition and I have delineated their (i.e. the commanderies) development in the 13th through 15th centuries including the procedures intended for the application in dealing with the subject ofthe two commanderies in 16th century. ln the second part of this diploma work I have described the manifestations of devoutness and religiosity in the town of Zittau at the beginning of the 16th century, i.e. in the era prior to the reformation. I have made my best to document whether the town of Zittau where the knights of Saint John possessed the patronage right to the parish church was also struck by the phenomena typical of religious life in the Central Europe at the threshold of...

Working of crusaders of red star in West and North-west Bohemia by 1526. Possession of property, hospices and parish administration
Janderová, Andrea ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Hledíková, Zdenka (referee)
Knight order of crusaders of red star is the only male catholic church order of Czech origin. lt is connected to the beginning of Franciscan movement in the Czech lands and to the personality of St. Agnes the Czech, who founded a hospic for the poor, sick and elderly in 1233. This hospic was built together with cloister of female branch of the Franciscan order in neighbourhood of St. Hastal church in the Old Town of Prague. Running of the hospic was apointed to lay fraternity. In 1234, king Wenceslas 1. adressed a protec ti ve document to the fraternity, shortly followed by a Papal bull, which ensured subordination of Na Františku cloister directly to Papal stooJ. Another buJ] from 1237 became also the confirmation document of the new order, appointed to run the hospic. The order became independent by-law, but property-wise it stayed dependent on the St. Frances cloister. The following year, Agnes in behalf of the c10ister gaye up aU their fortune and the Pope Gregory IX gaye the hospic together with all its belongings to master and friars of the hospic order. In 1252 the base stone was laid to the new hospic and church of the order, the central residence at the end of the old Judith's Bridge. Moving to the new quarters marked the end of a first phase of order's development and it was a beginning of a new...
Struggle for Šwidnica-Jawor duchy under the reign of the Luxembourg dynasty
Zelenka, Jaroslav ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Vorel, Petr (referee)
Shire of successors of Boleslav I. of Svídnice (Schweidni tz, Swidnica) represents an anomaly in the history of Silesia. Dukes of this branch of Silesian house of Piasts were thoroughly refusing to became vassals of czech king by profi ting of their rel a tionship wi th Wi ttelsbachs, Habsbourgs, Anj ous, as well as wi th polish king Casimir III of Poland. Bolek II of Svidnice was the most powerfull adversary of Luxembourgs. Even by using a military force, John of Luxembourg couldn't break his opposition. Situation had radically changed by the Treaty of Namyslov (Namslau, Namyslów) between Charles IV and Casimir III of Poland in 1348. By this treaty, polish king officially renounced to support his nephew. Charles IV was aware of quali ties of Bolek II and he didn't want to loose him by blessing his ego. So he didn't choose the way of violence, but he gave him a lot of privileges to "buy" his support. Czech king offered to Bolek II the alliance that he couldn't refuse. By this alliance he allowed Bolek to fulfill his power ambi tions what should have never been done, if he had remained adversary of Luxembourg's. Bolek I I of Svidnice was capable to profit from this extraordinary favor until his death. He succeeded to j oin to his shire numerous territories and assure some important economic privileges for...
The Term "crown" in designation of The Kingdom of Aragon and The Kingdom of Bohemia in the Middle Ages
Vlková, Tereza ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Drška, Václav (referee)
The denomination corona/crown is not exceptional in the name of the medieval state. But its meaning and sense was not always the same. The comparison of the denomination the lands of the Bohemian Crown can be led to England, France or Hungary, but to Aragon as well. The comparison of the tradition of using this denomination in Aragon and Kingdom of Bohemia is the main goal of this thesis. The part of this thesis is also devoted to the territorial expanse and territorial gains of both of them. I have chosen charters of kings of Aragon and I tried to detect the meaning ant the evolution of the term corona. From the comparison of the term corona in czech and aragon charters I got number of similarities. In both Crowns the term appears in time when the territory expands. Also the term appears in incorporation charter first. Very interesting is almost similar evolution of the position of the term corona, when at the beginng it stands next to the term regnum and finally we can find it alone. Key words: Crown of Bohemia - Crown of Aragon - Crown Lands - Kingdom - John of Luxemburg (the Blind) - Charles IV - Ramon Berenguer IV. - James I. the Conqueror - Peter III. the Great - James II. the Fair - Peter IV. the Ceremonious
Constructional activities of Prague burgesses concerning their country estates in the middle ages
Hůrka, Martin ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Klápště, Jan (referee)
I deal with constructional activities performed at country estates of Prague burgesses or persons, who were no longer considered to be lawful burgesses, but who had had their roots in that community. I target the period from the first known references on activities of those persons in the country approximatelly in the middle of the 13th century untill the end of the 15th centrury. Constructional activities can nowadays be recognized nearly exclusively at two types of buildings - residencies (forts, strongholds, castles) and churches. The utmost boom of building activities at country estates belonging to "burgesses" can be seen from the middle of the 14th centrury untill the burst of the Hussite Wars. The most atractive region, where the concerned persons had invested their resources, proved to be the one east of Prague.
