Utraquism and Orthodoxy
Jukl, Jakub ; Wernisch, Martin (advisor) ; Lášek, Jan Blahoslav (referee) ; Boček, Pavel (referee)
In our dissertation we will examine the relationships between the Czech Hussites and Utraquists on the one hand and the Orthodox Church on the other. First we will present a representative survey of opinions, according to which Hus and the Hussites continued the tradition of Orthodoxy established in our land by Cyril and Methodius. We will see whether this theory can be justified. We will further ascertain whether Jan Hus and Jerome of Prague can be considered as Orthodox. At the same time we will try to answer the question of whether it is possible to consider these two "martyrs of Constance" as Orthodox saints. We will also ascertain to what extent the Orthodox practice of administering the Eucharist under both kinds played a role in the introduction of the chalice for the laity by Jakoubek of Stříbro. Similarly, we will consider the same issue in relation to administering the Eucharist to children. We will also devote attention to the veneration of SS. Cyril and Methodius by the Hussites. We will analyse Hussite ecclesiology, especially those parts of it which might throw light on the relationship of the Hussites to the Orthodox Church. And we will look at how this relationship manifested itself in practice - for example in an interest in the Eastern Church or the ordination of priests by Orthodox...
Slavophilism and Slavophil paradigm in Russian philosophy of the 19th century
Nykl, Hanuš ; Lášek, Jan Blahoslav (advisor) ; Vlček, Radomír (referee) ; Boček, Pavel (referee)
The dissertation concerns position of the Slavophilism within Russian philosophy of the 19th century. The Slavophil phenomenon is critically analyzed and main principles of most significant theoreticians such as A. Khomiakov and I. Kireevsky are described. The Slavophilism is characterized as specific intellectual paradigm based on three major grounds - organic wholeness concept, religion as a basic factor and autonomy of entities. It shows following evolution of this paradigm in Russian mind of the 19th century in case of A. Grigoriev, N. Strakhov, N. Danilevsky, K. Leontiev and V. Soloviev. The other existence of the paradigm in other development of Russian mind is pointed out.

Goodness-of-Fit Disparity Statistics Obtained by Hypothetical and Empirical Quantizations
Boček, Pavel ; Vajda, Igor ; van der Meulen, E.
Goodness-of-fit disparity statistics are defined as appropriately scaled phi-disparities or phi-divergences of quantized hypothetical and empirical distributions. It is shown that the classical Pearson-type statistics are obtained if we quantize by means of hypothetical percentiles, and that new spacings-based disparity statistics are obtained if we quantize by means of empirical percentiles.
Modelling the time to failure and FTA
Boček, Pavel ; Salaba, Petr ; Volf, Petr ; Vrbenský, Karel
In he framework of the development the methodology for the reliability analysis and maintenance optimization the distribution of the time to failure has been modelled in different situations and results supported by simulation studies. Further, the Fault tree analysis (FTA) module accessible through the Web has been developed and tested.
