Financial cycle and its indicators

Subject of the diploma thesis is a broad analysis of financial cycles that are often behind other financial topics and their clear and precise understanding is still not sufficient, despite their high significance, and indeed a critical issue for financial stability. The paper will discuss indicators of financial cycles, we can ask ourselves how each financial cycles, meaning equity, credit and real estate prices, are synchronized with each other, but also toward the economic cycle, and what consequences this synchronization brings looking at different scenarios. The turning point in the boom phase is often triggered by the financial crisis, so we look if it is possible to predict these breaks in time. We discuss the recommended adaptations of policies to the financial cycle and in the final phase of diploma work will focus on the analysis of financial cycle in the Czech Republic.
Analysis of the offer of banking products for students

The bachelor thesis deals with banking products for students. The theoretical part describes three basic approaches to systemize banking products. The practical part focuses on the analysis of basic banking products od paticular banks operating in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and their subsequent comparison. Compared products are student account, overdraft, credit card and consumer loans for students. The study also discusses the possibility of introducing tuition fees in the Czech Republic and the approaches to the system of student loans that are used worldwide. It also contains a case study that examines if changes in cost-sharing have an impact on the behaviour of students and higher education institutions.
Stress testing of banks in the United Kingdom

This bachelor thesis deals with the concept of stress testing the UK banking system. The first part examines used approaches to stress testing, summarises existing development in this area and describes individual measured risks. It is therefore a theoretical basis for an understanding of the second part. The second part is dedicated to the specific implementation of stress testing in the British economy. The results of stress tests from years 2014 and 2015 are analysed in this part. The thesis also includes a comparison of UK stress test 2014 with EU-wide stress test carried out in the same year. The conclusion includes a contemplation of future development of stress testing.
The analysis of the emission of loans in banking sector in the Czech Republic in period 2005 - 2015

My thesis focuses on emission of bank loans and its analysis between 2005 and 2015 in the Czech Republic. This thesis informs a reader about Czech banking sector which is the main source of external financing in non-financial enterprises as well as among households. Emission of bank loans to these two sectors is very important for the czech economy that's why one chapter describes this issue. Also the various aspects such as global financial crisis, joining the Czech Republic to the Europian Union, interest rates and their influence on loan emission are shown. Thesis offers some facts about financial cycle and its indicator which has certain forecasting abilities.
Sovereign entities - financing, credit risk and rating

The echoes of Eurozone debt crisis brought into question the sovereign risk of advanced economies. Understanding factors that influence this risk is key to avoid similar crisis of public debt financing in the future. The main aim of this thesis is to identify which factors influence sovereign entity financing and how the problems of public debt financing arise. This is reached through analysis of debt crisis development and its causes in the GIPS economies.
The Banking system of People's Republic of China

The thesis deals with the development of China's financial system, with a particular focus on the banking sector. At the beginning of the work is briefly summarized the current development of China's economy, since the behaviors and positions of banks in the PRC are closely linked with the state of the economy and the state as such. Presents the basic elements of the Chinese banking system, constitutes the basic legislation and some banking institutions. It also discusses the banking system as a whole and finally discusses its greatest specifics, non performing loans and shadow banking.
Credit risk management in banks

The subject of this diploma thesis is managing credit risk in banks, as the most significant risk faced by banks. The aim of this work is to define the basic techniques, tools and methods that are used by banks to manage credit risk. The first part of this work focuses on defining these procedures and describes the entire process of credit risk management, from the definition of credit risk, describing credit strategy and policy, organizational structure, defining the most used credit risk mitigation tools to the regulatory requirements for credit risk management. The second part gives a more detailed view to credit risk measurement and evaluation and possibilities of credit risk hedging. Last part presents credit risk management in practise illustrated by the example of chosen bank.
Analysis of Single Resolution Mechanism

The final thesis follows the effort of the European Union to transfer responsibility for issues in the banking sector from taxpayers to its shareholders and creditors. It adopts many new tools and measures. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the banking union project, which unifies the supervision and procedures for solving the crisis at the European level. Emphasis is placed on the newly adopted Single resolution mechanism. Since the adopted legislation does not apply exclusively to the Eurozone countries the second part of the thesis analyses the implementation of the BRRD into Czech law, and the related amendments concerning the Czech banking sector. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the crisis resolving procedure, which is specified in the third chapter on the example of a fictitious bank. The example monitors tools and measures that can be used in various life stages of a bank. It is mainly based on the rules laid down in BRRD and the Czech legislation ZOPRK.
Regulatory reform and systemically important banks

The master's thesis deals with the topic of the regulatory reform based on Basel III framework created by Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. The target of this thesis is to present tools and components of Basel III standard and focus on the identification and analysis of the key factors for classifying banks as systemically important. The issue is described from global perspective and special attention is given to European specification of regulatory rules. One part of this study is dedicated to the monitoring of the fulfillment of new regulatory rules and tools by global and European banking system. Diploma thesis includes also the chapter monitoring macroeconomic impact of regulatory reforms.
The European Single Supervisory Mechanism

The present thesis deals with the European system of financial supervision and its goal is to provide a complex overview of a single supervisory mechanism as a key pillar of the banking union. Firstly, the main policies and rules introducing the thesis subject are mentioned, followed by a historical overview of an institutional structure of European supervision till now focused on a difference between a micro and a macro level of supervision. The next part is dedicated to the banking union which creation has been considered the best solution for a weakened banking sector after the financial crisis and represents the major change within the EU since the introduction of the euro. The thesis determines its four key pillars that are being implemented into the European banking. The main focus is on the single supervisory mechanism leading to the enhanced supervisory position of the European Central Bank (ECB) which is treated in the last chapter. At the end of the thesis, the opinions of various experts on the single supervisory mechanism are mentioned to help create a comprehensive overview of this issue.
