Movement options in individuals with dyslexia
Tobolková, Dominika ; Bitnar, Petr (advisor) ; Ptáková, Karolína (referee)
This research bachelor thesis titled "Physical Options in Dyslexic Individuals" highlights the issue of this specific learning disorder. It summarizes current knowledge about dyslexia in physiotherapy, rehabilitation and other appropriate physical activities. The work is divided into three parts. The theoretical part describes dyslexia within other specific learning disorders, determines its definition, typology and the search for causes of its origin. Herein, it depicts the knowledge in terms of building diversity and the functioning of the CNS and the reading process. The next section focuses on the secondary manifestations of this disorder. The special part deals with dyslexia in the context of physiotherapy, its influence on postural control. It compares current methods that try to move their postural system, movement skills and the disorder itself. This part offers an overview of appropriate therapies and activities for dyslectics. The last practical part is focused on the influence of dyslexia on the postural system of these individuals. The content is an indikative examination that compares 12 dyslectic individuals with each other. Keys words: dyslexia, specific learning disorders, physiotherapy, physical activities, sensory intergration
Anorectal dysfunction in multiple sclerosis
Motlová, Alžběta ; Kövári, Martina (advisor) ; Bitnar, Petr (referee)
This thesis is interested in summary of anorectal dysfunction in patients with sclerosis multiplex. This thesis is divided into 2 parts. The objective of the first part is a description of the anorectal dysfuntions. It also includes epidemiological data, dividing, investigating algorithms and possibilities of therapy. The second part is consisting of the case report of pacient with fecal incontinence who underwent the physiotherapy. Her medical history, individual therapy according to kinesiological analysis, evaluation by rectoanal manometry and subjective questionnaire are widely described within. Therapy is assessed by standardised questionnaire Fecal Incontinence Quality of Life Scale and St. Marks Continence Scale. The anorectal manometry evaluates the function of anal sphincters while at rest, during a voluntary contraction and also subcribes sensitivity of rectum. The subjective questionnaires reflect the psychosocial aspects and patient's quality of life. The analysis of fuction and kinesiological analysis were performed before and after physiotherapy and then after 3 months of hometherapy.
Manometry and its use in patients with a diagnosis of globus faryngeus
Gregová, Daniela ; Bitnar, Petr (advisor) ; Hep, Aleš (referee)
Introduction The main aim of this study is to present a complex review comprising etiological factors, diagnostic options and therapeutic methods related to globus pharyngeus, a persistent or intermittent sensation of a lump or foreign body in the throat. The second purpose is to investigate the reciprocal relationship between motor control with musculoskeletal system and pressure changes in the esophagus, especially in the upper esophageal sphincter. Methods 37 patients participated in the study. 24 of them suffered globus pharyngeus and 13 were patients with GERD but without the symptoms of globus pharyngeus. Because of the complex physiology of esophageal function and the inability of conventional manometry to fully describe this complexity, we found High-Resolution Manometry as a useful device for accomlishing the referred task. Patients were examined in four different postural situations which had to be modified when the attitude wasn't tolerated. The examination was followed by manual physiotherapy and exercises targeted to influence postural alignment. 10 patients with globus pharyngeus who agreed with a control manometry examination were familiarized with the results as a form of biofeedback. Results On the basis of the results of this research, it can be concluded that a high pressure...
The influence of colostomy on the musculoskeletal system
Šmídová, Hana ; Bitnar, Petr (advisor) ; Smolíková, Libuše (referee)
Introduction. This work is a pilot study which might highlighte pathology of musculoskeletal system at the patients with colostomy. It suppose to evaluate quality of life and the importance of physiotherapy intervention. Methodology. The group includes 13 patients (6 men and 7 women) with left colostomy. Median age was 58 years. The median time from the creation of the stoma at the time of investigation was 33 months. Patients were collected anamnestic data, kinesiological analysis, focused on testing stand, scars, coccyx, muscular tonus of 6 muscle groups, the diagnosis of visceralsomatic relationship and dynamic neuromuscular system. In conclusion, questionnaire methods were used for quality of life and pain. Patients were instructed in two months of therapy, followed by control investigation. Results. The most significant abnormalities were observed in the dynamic neuromuscular system insufficiency, in expression of visceral patterns of colon, but also for the stomach and duodenum. Abdominal wall has hypotonia, the other groups (except for m. piriformis), however, show a left-sided hypertonia. Significant is also the coccyx pain and limited mobility of scars with its palpable sensitivity. Patients have a slightly reduced quality of life and affective component of pain tends to exceed the sensory...
Psychosomatic linking of functional disorders of the upper gastrointestinal system and their significance for therapeutic rehabilitation
Roubalová, Kateřina ; Bitnar, Petr (advisor) ; Strapková, Zuzana (referee)
This thesis addreses the prohlems of medically unexplained physical symptoms of upper part of gastrointestinal tract from gastroenteorological, psychiatrical and physiotherapeutical perspective, and introduces psyclliatrical diagnostical unit "somatoform disorder". Next, it focuses on the interrelations between locomotor system, gastrointestinal system and psychical make-up in terms of the comprehensive approach to these disorders in physiotherapy. In the experimental part of this thesis psychological self-report questionnaire SCL-90 was used for screening of psychopathology of 19 outpatients with functional gastrointestinal disorder. From 15 retrieved questionnaires only 3 showed higher rates of general psychopathology. Further, patients underwent a physiotherapeutical examination to elicit eventual presence of so called visceral patterns and global disorders of locomotor system, which could affect their problems. These changes (both visceral patterns and global disorders of locomotor system) were found in the majority of cases. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
The Value of "Priessnitz Walking" as older adult exercise: issues of safety, adherence to the regimen, and fitness maintenance
Komínová, Olga ; Bitnar, Petr (advisor) ; Slabý, Kryštof (referee)
This diploma thesis presents a new form of outdoor activity called Priessnitz Walking, which means a connection of nordic walking, cooling limbs in a cold water and a yoga breathing exercises. A physiological grounds of each of its parts has been explained in the theoretical part of the thesis as well as its benefits for older people. Next to this, the thesis concerns about a physiology of aging and the importance of regular physical activity in later life. Our clinical experiment investigated an effect of PW during six-week training programe in older women attending Cardio Club Motol. A significant change in cardiorespiratory function and a positive subjective evaluation of the participates has been shown. Besides, we have found Priessnitz walking to be a save kind of endurance training for older people. A long-term adherance, which we also focused on, was not confirmed. Bibliographic record RUČKOVÁ, Adéla. Viscerosomatic links. Prague Charles University, 2nd faculty of medicine, Department of rehabilitation and excersise medicine, 2013. Supervisor: Mgr. Júlia Demeková. Abstract This thesis deals with viscerosomatic interactions from the perspective of a physiotherapist. It explains the terminology concepts occurring in viscerosomatic and somatovisceral issue. The aim of the thesis is to highlight the importance of the viscerosomatic issue and the knowledge of this issue for correct differential diagnosis. The thesis shows the differences between somatic pain and true visceral pain. Referred pain arises in visceral organs and it refers to the somatic tissues. The thesis contains a description of these viscerosomatic relationships, their neurophysiological basis and referral to the central nervous system. A large part is devoted to a review of knowledge about the visceral patterns. It should help to detect the presence of visceral problem of the patient. In the text there are references to the literature, which carefully describe various visceral patterns. The individual organs or systems are assigned with the other reflex changes that have occurred in experience with patients. This thesis presents 11 mostly foreign case reports and 2 research studies in plain terms with...
Activity of lower oesophageal sphincter in healthy patients in various postural positions
Beranová, Kateřina ; Bitnar, Petr (advisor) ; Hlava, Štěpán (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to describe information about GERD, its etiology, anatomy, pathology, treatment options and rehabilitation in patients with GERD. Lower oesophageal sphincter and antireflux barrier. The study was approved by the ethics committee. 30 probands were included in the study and their health status was verified using the Health Related Quality of Life questionnaire. A manometric catheter was inserted, proband was instructed to maintain various postural positions. Lying supine with lower limbs elevated above the surface, lying supine with lower limbs elevated above the surface with head fixated manualy, sitting and standing position, load in the center of gravity 3/6/9 kg, load outside the center of gravity 3/6/9 kg, lifting of the office chair. It has been shown that LES pressure increases in all postural positions compared to resting pressure. The positions activate the diaphragm to demonstrate the postural function of the diaphragm. The most significant change in LES pressures was in the postural position of lying supine with lower limbs elevated above the surface, the LES resting pressure of 20.34mmHg changed to the pressure of LES 40.92mmHg. Clinical experience and studies have shown that patients with GERD have disposition for respiratory and / or vertebrogenic difficulties....
