Mapam vs. Mapai: Issues of Foreign Policy Orientation and Social Form of the State Israel, 1947-1954
Benešová, Veronika ; Zouplna, Jan (advisor) ; Boušek, Daniel (referee)
The present thesis deals with the attitudes of two Israeli left-wing parties, Mapaj and Mapam, to the conflict between East and West between 1947 and 1954. As both of these parties had socialist roots, the main emphasis is on their relationships with the communist bloc. After presenting the general historical context against which these parties formulated their positions, their relationships with USSR and the socialist world are compared. Regarding Mapaj, the thesis follows its gradual abandonment of the policy of non-alignment to adopting openly pro-Western positions. Concerning the pro-soviet-oriented Mapam, which in the mentioned period was one of the main opposition parties, the thesis focuses both on the inter-party conflict with Mapaj and on the increasing tensions between the party's factions. These phenomena are illustrated by examples of specific foreign political issues that the newly created state had to deal with. Special attention is paid to the Prague trials affair which marked one of the peaks of the dispute between the two parties and pointed to a strong ideological discrepancy inside Mapam
Problems in botany education from the point of view of pre - service and in - service teachers
BENEŠOVÁ, Veronika
The thesis deals with the problematic areas in teaching of botany from the viewpoint of teachers and student teachers. Botany, its branches, history and position of botany in the Framework Educational Programme for elementary schools is described in the theoretical part. Furthermore, debatable areas in teaching, the term curriculum and its critical spots ale listed there. The theoretical part also describes the teaching of natural sciences in the Czech Republic, possible causes of critical points and specific cases in the teaching of botany. The term plant blindness is explained at the very of end of the theoretical part. The results of the practical part summarize the findings of the research which dealt with the problematic areas in teaching of botany. Its first part includes survey which was supposed to find out what kind of insights teachers and student teachers have about this area of problems. Its results are compared not only with themselves but also with other Czech and foreign studies. The second part is made up of interviews with teachers which lead to deeper elaboration of the main questions.
The expression and function of nucleophosmin (B23) during bovine preimplantation development
Benešová, Veronika ; Kaňka, Jiří (advisor) ; Krylov, Vladimír (referee)
Identification of genes that start their expression in different time of embryonal development is crucial for proper understanding of early mammalian embryogenesis. Genes that are differently expressed during this period are supposed to be important for normal preimplantation development. One of these genes is nucleophosmin, the multifunctional protein, which functions among others as a transporting protein between cytoplasm and nucleoli. It is involved in duplication of centrosomes, formation of ribosomes and functions as a chaperoning protein. Nucleophosmin shuttles rapidly between the nucleolus and cytoplasm. Its localization is cell cycle dependent and reflects the development of the nucleoli. For studying the effect of nucleophosmin on the bovine preimplantation development we used RNA interference that causes degradation of the target mRNA after injection of nucleophosmin double-stranded RNA. The average decrease of nucleophosmin mRNA abundance is 86.3 % between nucleophosmin dsRNA injected embryos and control group. We detected no differences in protein expression and localization of nucleophosmin between the groups by immunofluorescence method. Embryos in all groups were able to develop until the blastocyst stage, although there were significant difference between uninjected control group and...

The aim of our study was to evaluate the severity of hepatic and kidney damage retrospectively in the years between 2000 and 2004 with a focus on their reversibility, and to analyse the prognostic factors following Amanita phalloides (Am. ph., mainly hepatotoxic agent) and ethylene glycol (EG, nephrotoxic liquid) based on the calls made to the Czech Toxicological Information Centre and analyses made by toxicological laboratories. Analysis relied on data from medical records. A variety of clinical and laboratory parameters were collected. Fisher's test, Student's t-test and the calculation of linear correlation coefficients were used for statistical analysis. Twenty-four of 206 case-patients with EG intoxication were children. Fifty of 158 adult patients who survived, developed signs of nephrotoxicity. In 19 patients renal function normalized up to one month following the intoxication. Total 21 patients were followed-up as out-patients. Renal function completely recovered in 13 patients during 6 months and in three patients during 8-24 moths following the intoxication. The serum creatinine level was only mild elevated (119 |imol/l) in other two patients. However, their follow-up finished. In three patients renal damage persisted, serum creatinine level 138-200 (imol/1, in 19-26 months after discharge from...
Toxicovigilance of accidents with household chemical products in the Czech Republic.
Mrázová, Karolina ; Pelclová, Daniela (advisor) ; Benešová, Veronika (referee) ; Brhel, Petr (referee)
1 Abstract The aim of the study was to evaluate the numbers, severity and causes of accidents, occurring in the households due to the cleaning products. Among the groups of potentially dangerous cleaning products, the highest proportion of accidents was caused by cleaning products containing sodium hypochloride (37 %), descalers containing acids (29 %) and dishwasher tablets (25 %). A lower percentage of inquiries appeared due to hydroxides containing drain cleaning products (7 %). In the year 2009, there were 251 inquiries to the Toxicological Information Centre due to cleaning products in defined categories studied. Among them, there were 133 children and 118 adult patients, who ingested cleaning product accidentally (86%) or for suicidal purposes (3%); inhaled (9%) or had an eye contact with the product (2%). There were 23% children and 27% adults hospitalized; the children most frequently due to accidental ingestion of hydroxides (92%), the adults due to the inhalation of irritant vapors (64%). Among them 14% children (86% due to the ingestion of cleaning products containing hydroxides) have been examined using the endoscopy (in the total anesthesia), in addition to 5% adults. The study has shown that the most common cause of the accidents in children is the distraction of the adults; nevertheless, the...
Rozvoj a nové trendy agroturistiky v mikroregionu Židlochovicko a na Břeclavsku
Benešová, Veronika
The bachelor thesis The development and new trends in agroturism in the microregion of Židlochovicko and in Břeclavsko is divided into several parts. The first, theoretical, part deals with the issues of agroturist development in the regions of Židlochovicko and in Břeclavsko. It maps the natural and tourist attractions, wine destinations, wine trails, cycletracks which are significant for each region, as well as the local events within country tourism. The second, practical, part of the work presents SWOT analysis of these two regions and statistical research evaluating the agrotourist development of these regions. The survey employed a guestionnarie aimed at both the visitors to these regions and local inhabitants. The aim of the survey was to determine the level of the agrotourist development in the given areas, comparision of these two localities in terms of agrotourism and also assessment of the results and possible causes of the phenomena which are dealt with in the survey.
Jewish wedding ceremony in Libya and its previous customs
Benešová, Veronika ; Boušek, Daniel (advisor) ; Sládek, Pavel (referee)
The present thesis deals with a Jewish wedding and its form in Libya at the turn of 19th and 20th centuries. The first part is dedicated to the basic pattern of a Jewish wedding and its most significant changes throughout history. This part also interprets a Jewish wedding from anthropological point of view, as a rite of passage. Thus, it understands the jewish wedding as a symbolical passage of a married couple from one stage of life to another. The second part of this thesis focuses on a Jewish wedding in Libya. Here the special attention is focused on the Jewish community in Tripoli, which was, before the World War II., one of the most numerous and the best documented Jewish communities in Libya. In order to present differences between rural area and Tripoli, Jewish wedding in Djebel Nefusa is also described. Finally, the thesis also discusses possible adoption of the customs of surrounding Muslim communities.
