Aamateur theatre in the Region Rokycany into 19th. - 20th. Century

The subject of this bachelor thesis deals with the development, history and significance of amateur theatre in the Region Rokycany since the beginning to the present. I'll briefly summarize history of amateur theatre and then I will focus on the history of the Region Rokycany and town Myto. As an example, I'll mention several theatres. I'd take a closer look on group of amateurs from Myto as an main example of amateur theater, which is one of the oldest amateur theatres in the region. I'll focus on their origins, how they survive in both world wars and communism. At last chapter I'll write about repertoar of amateurs of Myto. A Comparison of the Processes of Creating National Identities in Finland and the Czech Lands in the 19th Century

The dissertation thesis deals with mutual reflection and perception of national movements in Finland and Czech lands during the years 1789-1914. On the background of newly shaped Finnish or Czech nations, it compares, in which way the perception of Finns respectively Czechs changed and evolved from the point of view of other nation that was in analogical situation in its national emancipation. The major role was played by mutual contacts between prominent figures of both national revivals, who delivered their perception and experience to broader audience not only via articles in newspaper, but also in magazines, popular as well as scientific, and also books. This thesis is based on assumption, that the leading persons of both nations were aware of mutual similarities as well as differences between both national movements, at the same time it also sets up a hypothesis, that knowledge of the other national movement, its advantages and disadvantages could be used in a progress of own nation. The first chapter outlines bilateral contacts between Czech and Finnish ethnics from the High Middle Ages until the birth of the national revival movements. Intellectual History in the Context of Czech and European Historiography in 19th and 20the Century

The main thematic scope and basis of the PhD thesis is the specific movement in the historiography called duchové dějiny (in English partly misleading translation intellectual history) in the form, in which it was developed in German speaking lands as Geistesgeschichte, and in the Czech historiography as duchové dějiny outlined by Zdeněk Kalista. In the PhD thesis duchové dějiny is put into the wide context of the development of historical thinking and methodology in the 19th and 20th century. The PhD thesis treats the subdiscipline of duchové dějiny in many perspectives and at different levels and thematically is not enclosed by the boundaries of the duchové dějiny itself. The duchové dějiny is here in a way an optics through which one line of historiography and historical thinking in the 19th and 20th century is observed, treated and interpreted. The PhD thesis also aims to connect the history and its methodology with the archivistics and archival theory. In this way proposes the thesis certain solutions. Nowadays, duchové dějiny belongs rather to the marginal movements or subdisciplines in the historiography in the Czech and German speaking lands, contrary to intellectual history in Anglophone areas. The topic of the thesis is the library of Josef Svátek (1835 - 1897) who was not only author of historical fiction but also editor and historician. The thesis is based on Svatek's coresspondence, period magazines and his own library. The thesis is focused on Svatek as editor and historician and the attention is paid to not yet published fact about Svatek's life. Svatek's library is the subject of analysis which allows us to see how the library itself was effected by Svatek's interests, hobbies and duties. Ways of Identifying Elites in the Area of the Central European Barbaricum of the Late Roman Period

The thesis pursues those aspects of the material culture found in settlements and burial sites that are connected to the manifestation of social elites in the Central European Barbaricum of the 3rd and 4th centuries AD. The author will compile relevant sources and critically evaluate various approaches regarding the options for recognising the self-presentation of elites by means of material culture identificators as well as in terms of cultural anthropology. The results will then be compared to the ways elites manifest themselves in the preceding time period. The author will also submit a proposal of possible methodical procedures that would lead to a synthetic understanding of the self-presentation and prestige goods phenomena.

Czech artist in the years 1968-1989: Servant or a hero? Stanislav Kolibal and Josef Malejovsky Introduction of the bachelor thesis outlines the political developments in Czechoslovakia in 1948-1989. The main theme will capture the difference between official and unofficial scene Czech artistic life in the years 1968-1989, represented artists Stanislav Kolibal and Joseph Malejovsky. The content will compare the conditions in which they formed during the normalization throughout their lives, before the normalization period, compare the quality of their work, and compare the regime/anti-regime attitude to art and not least their political position not only in artistic expression. Text in addition to life artists will also focus on the development of groups in which worked, exhibitions and other artistic expressions factors.
Jan Pelár, a musician who should not be forgotten

Jan Pelar is an integral part of the cultural heritage of Wallachia. He personally represented Wallachian culture at Ethnographic Exhibition in Prague in 1895. On this occasion he obtained his first musician concession. Reportedly, he composed the Wallachian anthem, "My sme Valaši" on his way to Prague. This work will focus on his musical career and his personal life which was extraordinary. This work will focus on his musical career, his extraordinary personal life and his legacy to younger musicians.
Image of Luxembourg in Czech history textbooks in the 19th and 20th century

The objective of this diploma thesis is to characterize the image of Luxembourgs in the Czech history textbooks in the 19th and 20th century. The work is based on the assumption that the history education takes a significant part in making a young person's identity. The thesis describes the development of this image and the way in which the educational literature reflected the atmosphere of the day and its transformation in the context of historical development. The dynamic development of the image of the Czech history of 14th and 15th centuries is the central theme of the work. It will be mainly focused on the historical figures of Bohemian Luxembourg kings: John of Luxembourg, Charles IV, Wenceslaus IV and Sigismund of Luxembourg.
Municipality of Hradčany in Podještědí in the story of contemporary history

This master's thesis follows the author's previous bachelor thesis Village Hradčany in Podještědí at Contemporary History 1914 -1948. Using terminology and methods of regional history and microhistory it accents exploring contemporary history of whole commune and municipality Hradčany with all of its historical villages. It will deal comprehensively with cultural-historical and political-historical problems and phenomena of the of the second half of the 20th century, beginning with the communist rise of power in 1948 , continuing by demise of traditional rural economy in the fifties. But it will also mention the extinction of commune Hradčany itself and its connecting to the bigger commune of socialist type in seventies and developement of socialist rural society. Due to comparing the local archive sources with sources from other surrounding settlements the work should produce a synthetical historical source, which could be taken as a general picture of history of settlements in the region. The whole work is based primarily on archive and oral-history research, interviews with the oldest settlers, collection of photographic sources and written documents as memories.
Jaroslav Werstadt and its place in the Czech historiography

7 Abstract Jaroslav Werstadt was born March 21, 1888 in Pilsen and died on January 8, 1970 in Prague. He was an important Czech historian and publicist. Since his student years, he attended a political struggle against Austria-Hungary. He was a prisoner of the concetraition camp Buchenwald. Many of his works are devoted to the resistence isme. He has a great interest in Czech history and philosophy of history. This thesis discusses the work of Jaroslav Werstadt in the field of Czech history and its development in philosophy of history. Subsequently it compares his work, views and opinions with other philosophers and historians. Namely Franišek Palacký, Bohuslav Balbín, Tomáš G. Masaryk and others.
