Interaction style of novice teachers in the process of establishing their authority

This diploma thesis is concerned with authority of a novice teacher based on their usage of his or her interaction style in a classroom. The aim of this thesis is to find out how teachers and their pupils perceive particular interaction styles of a teacher with regard to establishing and using their authority. The theoretical part of this thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter deals with the terms authority and teacher's authority, emphasizing pupils' point of view and in connection with this introduces its classification of authority types. The next chapter inquires into interpersonal behaviour of a teacher, definition of their interaction style and ways of its detection in practise. The third chapter is concerned with the issues of novice teacher emphasizing their problems in interaction with their pupils which can appear at the beginning of their professional career. Practical part is primarily based on a quantitative inquiry implemented with the help of modified standardized questionnaires QTI investigating the interaction style of a teacher. Non-mathematical world of mathematics textbook for 6th grade of lower secondary schools and in the area of financial literacy

The aim of the dissertation thesis is to study the non-mathematical content of textbooks of mathematics. Textbooks of mathematics are not only a pedagogical document but also a cultural artefact that is produces in a particular society with its own cultural norms. While working with a textbook of mathematics, pupils come across many images of everyday life. Yet, since the main goal of a mathematics textbook is to help pupils gain knowledge and skills in mathematics, not much attention is paid to textual (non-mathematical, cultural) content. This means that pupils almost on everyday basis visit a world that tries to awaken the illusion of being "real", of being model of reality but in fact is a model for what is perceived as normal. The question asked in the presented research is what images of everyday life pupils come across while working with Czech textbooks of mathematics and whether there are differences among textbooks by different authors in this respect. Risk behaviour of pupils at SOŠ and SOU Kralupy nad Vltavou

The diploma thesis deals with risk behavior of pupils of SOŠ and SOU Kralupy nad Vltavou. The aim of this work is primarily to find out what risk behavior is actually occurring at SOŠ and SOU Kralupy nad Vltavou, whether pupils themselves are aware of how the school attempts to prevent the occurrence of this undesirable behavior, and what is used to eliminate the risk behavior of pupils. It reveals how risk behaviors are treated in the school's basic documents and how this behavior is being prevented. It deals with the functioning of the school counseling center and the work of class teachers. Methods used for this work are document study, focus group and interviews. Observation is an additional method. Research shows that the most common risk behaviors are truancy, substance abuse, bullying and cyberbullying, aggression in the form of vandalism and vulgarism. Based on the study of school documents, it recommends possible ways of making the work of the school counseling center more effective, primary and secondary prevention at school, class teacher's work, and class lessons.
