Obesity and fat shaming in media on the example Patricie Solaříková and Super.cz

The adoration of thinness and the cult of perfect body has been an issue for many decades; with substantial contributions of the mass media and the press. As consequence, the phenomena of fat-shaming and fat-glorification become prominent, either by denouncing obesity and humiliating the overweight, or by worshipping the obese and elevating their status above the slender people. The theoretical part of the thesis aims to introduce the first phenomenon, which condemns the corpulent population disregarding their state of health and other aspects of life, capable of causing an unfounded weight increase, and to depict the approach of the media (tabloids in particular) towards the excess weight. The practical part of the thesis is concerned with analysing selected articles of a tabloid journal Super.cz, beginning with characterising its content, target audience and focus, and strives to reveal specific instances of fat-shaming on articles regarding the fluctuating weight of actress Patricie Solaříková between years 2013 and 2017. The practical part opens with presentation of the actress and apart from analysing the approach of Super.cz in articles regarding the actress' weight, the thesis deals with the frequency of such articles and the proportion of the aforementioned articles to columns concerned...

Quality of environment air in Prachatice during the time period from 1997 to 2007, application of the environment air problems in education

This dissertation work deals with the issue of environment air from several different points of view. The progression of accuracy of some pollute substances in the environment air in the city Prachatice during the time period from 1997 to 2007 was analyzed, using data obtained from The Czech Hydro-Meteorological Institute from Program Teplice, from the Czech republic's environment's statistical year-books as well as from other specialized professional resources. Marginally this work deals with some pollutants and their influences on the human health. The concentration of pollute matters is rather stagnant with tendency of mild increase. There was accomplished a sociological investigation in March 2009 using standardized interviews, which was focused on an opinion of inhabitants in the city Prachatice considering the air environment in Prachatice during the last 10 years period. Interviewed don't feel negative influences of the air environment in Prachatice on their health and they consider the air environment in Prachatice during the last 10 years getting generally better. The highest number of pollutes according to the respondents had occurred in Prachatice during the winter moths. Comprehensive system of rehabilitation in younger individuals after stroke

Title of the bachelor thesis is Comprehensive rehabilitation in younger individuals after stroke. The aim of this thesis was to determine the subjective perception of individuals´ needs after stroke. The theoretic part is divided into two main chapters. The first one contains brief information about the disease, its types, anatomy and physiology background and symptoms. The second chapter deals with the issue of comprehensive rehabilitation and its parts. Particular approaches are defined and described in detail, health professionals working in this area are also mentioned here. The research part was processed by a method of qualitative research strategy. Semi-structured interview technique and observation were used. The research set included 5 respondents - four men and one woman. Past history of stroke and age of individuals between 45 and 55 years were the inclusion criteria for this research. Interview was held according to scenario questions, where I focused on two areas. First section included information about the respondent, his disease and treatment in the way of comprehensive rehabilitation. In the second part, respondents were asked how their life had changed after the experience of stroke. The interview was audio-recorded and then verbatim transcribed. One of the respondents did not wish to be audio-recorded, thus written notes were taken during the interview. Interviewing results are presented in a narrative format. By conducting this research I tried to answer the following question: What are the needs of individuals at various stages of stroke recovery? Need of self-sufficiency was mentioned by all respondents. In early stage, it was mainly coping with basic activities such as food intake, control of excretion, verbal expression and movement. In the later phase of treatment, there are increasing demands on self-care, understanding ability, memory and social interaction. Individuals often went through an intensive therapy. After returning back to their home environment, the need of self-realization, activation and meaningful ways to spend a free time are the most significant issues. This work should provide more information on the given topic.
