Determination of dicarboxylic acids in air by aerosol sampler
Čapka, Lukáš ; Mikuška, Pavel
Dicarboxylic acids (DCAs) are important components of water soluble aerosol compounds. Aerosol particles are quantitatively collected using a continous aerosol sampler, CGU-ACTJU, into deionized water. The ACTJU effluent is permanently sucked out from the sampler and on-line analysed for DCAs content by means of ion chromatography.
Determination of levoglucosan and dehydroabietic acid in urban aerosol
Coufalík, Pavel ; Čmelík, Richard ; Křůmal, Kamil ; Čapka, Lukáš ; Mikuška, Pavel
The analytical method involving aerosol sampling into water, quantitative pre-concentration of levoglucosan and dehydroabietic acid, and their determination by LC-MS was developed in this work.
Determination of inorganic anions in air by modernized aerosol sampler
Čapka, Lukáš ; Mikuška, Pavel ; Večeřa, Zbyněk
Combination of original ACTJU sampler with water-based condensation growth unit (CGU) located upstream of the ACTJU allows quantitative sampling of aerosol particles down to a few nm in diameter. The ACTJU effluent is permanently sucked out from the sampler and online analysed for particulate water-soluble species by ion chromatography.
Increase of efficiency of continuous aerosol sampler
Mikuška, Pavel ; Čapka, Lukáš ; Večeřa, Zbyněk
Contribution deals with increasing of collection efficiency of ACTJU sampler also for particles smaller than 300 nm in diameter. Use of so-called „growth tube“ (GT) located upstream of the ACTJU results in increase of particle size to several µm. Enlarged particles are then easily quantitative collected in ACTJU sampler.
Combined effect of temperature and CdO nanoparticles treatment on Picea abies
Večeřová, Kristýna ; Mikuška, Pavel ; Oravec, Michal ; Kozáčiková, Michaela ; Pompeiano, Antonio ; Coufalík, Pavel ; Urban, Otmar
Three-years old seedlings of Picea abies were pre-treated under two different\ntemperatures (20x35 °C) and subsequently exposed to elevated concentration of CdO\nnanoparticles (CdONPs). Two-week exposure to airborne CdONPs of ecologically\nrelevant size and concentration significantly reduced photosynthetic light use efficiency\nin plants as well as contents of photosynthetic pigments and saccharides. In contrary,\namino acid content was increased under CdONPs. These changes were further\nmodulated by previous growth temperature.
Determination of levoglucosan in urban aerosol
Coufalík, Pavel ; Mikuška, Pavel ; Čmelík, Richard
The main aim of this work was a development of the analytical method for levoglucosan\ndetermination including direct collection of aerosol into water phase, preconcentration,\nand determination by LC-MS.
Determination of dicarboxylic acids in atmospheric aerosols using ion chromatography with on-line connected preconcentration unit
Čapka, Lukáš ; Mikuška, Pavel ; Večeřa, Zbyněk
A method for the fast and sensitive detection of dicarboxylic acids in atmospheric\naerosols was optimized. The method is based on the online sampling and subsequent\nanalysis with ion chromatography. The system was applied to the determination of\nDCAs in urban aerosols in Brno. The method was verified using a laboratory generated\nstandard aerosol of DCAs. A sampling of aerosol particles on parallel filter was used\nas a reference method.
Composition of particles and gases in emissions of spark ingnition engines: effect of operation cycles and alcohol fuels
Mikuška, Pavel ; Křůmal, Kamil ; Coufalík, Pavel ; Vojtíšek-Lom, M. ; Beránek, V. ; Štolcpartová, Jitka ; Večeřa, Zbyněk
Chemical composition of particles and gaseous compounds in emissions of spark-ignition engine depends on operation cycle and the method of formation of the fuel mixture. Particulate emissions (both particle mass and especially particle number concentration) were significantly higher at engine with the direct formation of mixture (engine DISI) than at engine with indirect formation of the mixture (MPI), and were affected both by the operating conditions and by the fuel used.
Extraction of bioavailable proportion of metals in aerosol and street dust
Coufalík, Pavel ; Mikuška, Pavel ; Křůmal, Kamil ; Večeřa, Zbyněk ; Vojtíšek, M. ; Matoušek, Tomáš ; Zvěřina, O.
The determination of total contents and bioavailable proportions of selected metals in street dust, urban aerosol and emissions from biofuel combustion was performed in this research. Extraction solutions simulating body fluids evinced significantly different extraction ability.
statistical analyssis of chemical composition of urban aerosol PM1 in Brno and Šlapanice
Mikuška, Pavel ; Mikušková, M. ; Křůmal, Kamil ; Večeřa, Zbyněk ; Michálek, J.
Urban aerosol particles in the size fraction PM1 collected in Brno and Šlapanice in winter and summer campaigns in 2009 and 2010 were analysed for ions and metals. Statistical analysis of chemical composition of PM1 aerosols by using a factor analysis was applied to identify emission sources of urban aerosols in Brno and Šlapanice.
