Promoting protection of cultural values in protection of woody plants
Dienstbier, Filip ; Pouperová, Olga ; Vícha, Ondřej
A diagnostic feature of objects of garden and landscape architecture, that are recognised as cultural monuments, are growing elements, of them indisputably the most important category are the elements of woody vegetation - trees and shrubs. These, however, are besides the cultural preservations subject to nature and landscape protection, as they have biological and aesthetic values, as well as ecological values. For this reason they are subject inter alia to protection provided by nature protection bodies according to the Act on nature and landscape protection. Interests on protection of woody plants from the prospective of cultural preservation on one hand and the prospective of nature and landscape protection on the other, may depending on the specific circumstances supplement each other or may be indifferent, but they may also differ and collide with each other. These methods are a new instrument for effective promotion of interests on cultural preservation in decision-making on the protection of woody plants outside forests. The methods provide with a comprehensive set of recommendations, both substantive and procedural, how bodies of cultural protection and owners of cultural monuments or other entities concerned should proceed when dealing with trees growing outside forests. The recommendations are defined for basic model situations.

Promoting protection of cultural values in spatial planning process – spatial plan
Dienstbier, Filip ; Pouperová, Olga ; Vícha, Ondřej
Spatial planning instruments are key instruments in the protection and promotion of both, public and private interests when using the land. Their importance stems from their complexity, the hierarchical structure of spatial planning documentation and binding effect of the documentation for consequential spatial-decision-making procedures. Neither the protection of cultural monuments and protected zones, as encompassed in the Act on State Cultural Preservation, is not possible without consistent enforcement of heritage values in the spatial planning process. It is not only the role of bodies of spatial planning, but especially the role of bodies of cultural preservation in the position of bodies concerned and the specialized authority of cultural preservation – the National Heritage Institute. These certified methods provide with clear support and advice how effectively and successfully promote interests associated with cultural preservation. The methods are focused on the process of making the spatial plan, as it is the most frequent spatial planning document and various bodies of cultural preservation on lower levels of are involved in this phase.

The methodology of woody species evaluation for the needs of monument preservation
Pejchal, Miloš ; Šimek, Pavel
The purpose of the methodology is to evaluate the current status and potential of woody species in the monuments of garden and landscape architecture. The methodology is based on visual assessment and is modular in nature and consists of the basic module and expansion (special) module. The basic module can be applied in all objects of garden and landscape architecture and consists of the following groups of attributes: identification, mensurational, descriptive, qualitative, and others; the specifics and specific groups of woody species (climbing plants, shaped trees) are taken into account. The methodology is focused both on the evaluation of individual specimens of woody species, as well as the evaluation of the groups of individuals (from individual groups and stands of woody species to all the woody species in an object). For these woody species groups was drawn special qualitative attribute - so called dendrologic potential - indicating the ability of the existing woody species to ensure the stability of the composition. Expansion module of evaluation is focused on the specific needs of monument preservation. It includes 2 attributes expressing the historical authenticity of woody species - originality (genuineness, value, age) of a substance and ability to bear the principle contained in the original substance. The third attribute expresses the importance of woody species in the composition.

Methodology for Evaluation of Main Squares of Small Towns for the Needs of Landscape Architecture and Urban Development
Ambrožová, Zuzana
The methodology represents a method for evaluating main squares for the purpose of comparison, problem analysis and identification of their value and phenomena. It provides guidelines for urban, architectural and landscape design applicable in future projects. The methodology includes commented graphic outputs and a form for field survey data that reflect in the text description, graphic representation and evaluation of qualitative traits on a five-point scale. The comprehensive typology of main squares comes with general principles for development, and examples of selected model objects on which the approach was tested. A clear methodology has a potential of becoming a database file as part of information systems and preliminary project preparation in urban planning.

Designing public spaces in newly set up residential complexes - with the emphasis on the garden and landscape architecture
Krátká Adámková, Barbara ; Magni, Anna
Construction of new residential complexes in the Czech Republic is heavily criticized for constantly absorbing the suburban landscape and dysfunctional public spaces. The methodology can be used both when planning new housing (the question to build or not to build, and where?) and in the design process of an optimal urban structure of a new complex, its architecture and public spaces, including both functional and artistic details. Possibilities of applying principles of landscape architecture are huge and their proper use demonstrably leads to creation of quality housing, in accordance with the place.
