Master´s thesis deals with the study of lakes locality called Holasecka jezera in southern part of Brno. The study gives complex evaluation of present condition of the locality and closely aims at Holasecka jezera restoration, including technical and environmentally friendly measures. Restoration and construction of new water management objects is designed together with creation of nature development zones and financial evaluation of designed measures.

Author of the thesis focuses on the research and verification of relations determined by different authors for the settling velocity of particles available for hydraulic research in the LWMR. For understanding of the research performed under a general search on the issue of hydraulics and provides current and historical relations of authors dealing with the issues. The practical part describes his own research and evaluates and compares the results of its relations with other authors.

Perceptions of Justice in Postmodern Societies

Lucie Heráčková Abstract Factors for interpreting the social world as just The concept of justice refers to the interrelationship between the individual and the general welfare. However, the concept of "justice" is not clearly defined in sociology. According to Emile Durkheim, justice is a state that is required by social groups to maintain cohesion. Scheonfeld & Mestrovic (1989) argue that justice can be seen as equivalent to Durkheim's solidarity given that the means for acquiring justice are important for maintaining solidarity in society. Modern sociology often distinguishes between distributive and procedural justice (Šanderová, 2017), the former noting the perceived fairness of the resulting distribution of rewards and sanctions, while the latter the fairness of the process that leads to this distribution. For distributive justice, it may be analytically important to distinguish between the level of distribution of goods (who receives valuable resources and for what) and the distribution of sanctions (how and who will be punished if they act against the common good) (Šanderová, 2017). One glaring condition of the enlightenment and modernity is that human beings have been placed at the center of the world in majority of academic disciplines, a condition which the Social Sciences have not been spared from. In an attempt to follow in the footsteps of scholars such as Robert Orsi and his research on presence within Catholicism, the project aims to explore how we as scholars can be more accepting of and hospitable of multiple temporalities, particularly within the field of sociology. This project aims to uncover the sociological significance of subjects experiences when narrate accounts that allude to supernatural beings. I want to display how such encounters add to our understanding of people's perception of their role within society and how their behavior towards others is implicitly shaped by such beliefs.

Czechoslovak Jews in Israel after World War II

The following dissertation focuses on the Jewish minority in Czechoslovakia, which decided to emigrate to Israel in the post-war period. By combining historical-sociological knowledge of the context of the time and analysis of narrative interviews with witnesses, it captures how emigration from Czechoslovakia took place, reveals motivational factors leading to leaving the country, allows us to understand the role of the Zionist movement, associations and organizations. It outlines what the adaptation in Israel looked like and what areas were key to the witnesses in the new country. It captures the connection of emigrants to the country of origin. Changing Perspectives on Death and Dying in Sociological Theory

The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of death and dying from classical to contemporary sociology in the modern Western societies. The thesis is divided into five parts in which the theoretical concepts of each author are discussed chronologically in sequence along with their classification into theoretical approaches. In the first part, the thesis is focused on the consideration of language in relation to the topic and it provides historical context to complete the overall picture of the changes the view of death and dying has been transformed in. The next chapter is focused on classical sociologists and thematization of the topic in their works. Furthermore, it covers the longest time-period of modern theories in the second half of the twentieth century, categorizing them into relevant theoretical approaches. The thesis concludes with the period of postmodern theories. Finally, all findings all connected in the final part of the thesis, discussion. Society has developed a death system which includes entire organization of rituals, traditions, norms and also language associated with death and dying, and the death system has been developing along with more complex organization of society. The main thesis is that globalization influences social identities in twofold ways. Firstly, social identities are enormously strengthened by processes of globalization and they are becoming very complex, on the other hand, globalization can weaken and fragment these identities as well. This thesis uses the term identity in the context of sociology as social identities that are created in a social context and are creating social reality. Unlearned Social Change: A Study of Transitory Order

The thesis is a qualitative study of grey zones and grey phenomena on the border of economy and politics in the Czech Republic from 1995 to 2013. The widely ingrained presupposition that the closing dot to the 'transition phase' was the Europeanization process as connected to the procedures associated with becoming an EU member is commonly spread and taken for granted. Given verifying this presumption, the research field has been divided into two distinctive subperiods: the first one investigates patterns of practice as they were associated primarily with the stage of the change, which may be labelled as post-privatization/secondary privatization (1995-2004). The second subperiod in focus (2004-2013) has been the period from entering the EU in 2004 to the shockwave of reconstitution of the Czech political scene in 2013 after the government-parliamentary-clan-clientelist structures collision and the resignation of the Czech government. The empirical sources for the inquiry have been primarily the particular instances of happenings and problematic undertakings in the overlap of politics and economy as they are registered and referred to, for the given period of 1995-2013, in the weekly periodicals - Respekt, Ekonom.
