The various forms of alternative institutional child care in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis focusses on psychological issue of institutional care in the first part. The beginning devotes to historical development of alternative care of children up to present. The thesis focusses on issue of taking a child from the primary family and placing him or her to the institutional care. It devotes the topic of risk parents and children. A big part of the thesis relates to mental deprivation, its definition, reactions' typology, diagnostic and psychotherapy. In the next part, there are described the psychological development's specialities of mentally deprived children, then a child's return to the primary family, a child's transition to alternative care, and the issue of individuals leasing the institutional care after reaching their legal age. Last part deals with specific topics connected with alternative care concerning children with ethnic differences or with special needs. A quantitative study detecting the influence of long-term stay in the institutional care on economical behaviour and attitudes is designed in the second part. It is designed for adolescents, who grow up in institutional care and foster care for a long time. Adolescents growing up in biological families are the control group. Psychological aspects of death and dying

This theses concern with psychological aspects of dying and death. Its purpose is to comprehend ideas of modern people concerning death and dying (eventually to gain some kind of mental representation of death). Theses consist of two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part concerns at first with death and dying and areas connected to those. Then it covers two quite new areas related to this topic, namely deaht in psychology and various explanations of death including their psychological explanation. The empirical part uses qualitative research (used methods are half-structured interview, free aassociations and marginally also analysis of a drawing) on people's conception of death, their explanation of death and feelings related to the topic, their fears and wishes. The findings are of qualitative character and they were obtained from 28 respondents. The results of empirical part could provide valuable psychological material in the area, that is even nowadays still concidered to be a taboo. They could deepen research in the area that, due to the overall aging of population, would be more and more valuable. Foster family in view of biological children

The diploma thesis is concerned with the long-term foster care; particularly with the experience of foster carer's own children. It provides knowledge of the alternative care system in the Czech Republic and the particularities of foster families. It describes how own children of foster carers experience the period of time before their foster sibling's arrival, what are their feelings and reactions after the arrival, how their positions in the family change, how their relationships are formed and how they perceive their parent's decision retrospectively. The theoretical part is followed by empirical part which is composed of quantitative and qualitative research. The results of quantitative research introduce the experience of biological children and create a basic idea of the situations in foster families. The conclusions of the qualitative research are then an addition of the quantitative part and help to a better imagination of the life in foster families. This thesis should contribute to foster care applicants, their children and specialists who work with foster families. Psychological aspects of preschool child deprivation and subdeprivation

The bachelor thesis deals with deprivation and subdeprivation of preschool children. It defines both terms, describes external conditions which can cause deprivation, internal conditions which involve the final effect of deprivation situation and basic mental child needs. It also deals with subdeprivation situations which can occur, describes the each development period of preschool age with emphasize on deprivation and subdeprivation and describes the change of attitude to deprivation in 20th century. In this context attention is paid to institutional care and partial collective care. The conclusion of theoretical part of thesis is focused on the most present subdeprivation situations of today's and on the consequences of psychological deprivation and subdeprivation. The plan of research project is part of this bachelor thesis.
Support for pupils with behavior problems in the system of institutional care and counseling in the Czech Republic

This bachelor's thesis focuses on supporting pupils with problematic behaviour in the system of institutional care and counseling in the Czech Republic. The work has been written as a summarizing survey compiled of various academic sources and studies. The theoretical part deals with the problem of behavioural disorders, with their specification itself, with their classification and with the causes of their origin. The text then centres on the individual bodies of counseling and institutional care as well as on some of the methods of the cognitive- behavioural therapy which are used in both types of care. The thesis also constitutes of a research proposal which is devised as longitudinal. It focuses on how clients perceive the efficiency of some of the methods of cognitive-behavioural therapy in institutional care and counseling. Methods of developmental psychodiagnostics for children under the age of 3

Thesis focuses on methods of developmental psychodiagnostics for children under the age of 3. Characteristics of early childhood considering the general developmental patterns are introduced in the beginning. Then the focus is moved to the developmental psychodiagnostics, its specific situation, its demands from the examinator's point of view, as well as the specifics of infants and toddlers that can affect the process of making a developmental diagnosis. The essence of this thesis presents particular methods of developmental diagnostics, its development, description, use, advantages and possible disadvantages. For better demonstraion of the administration process, each method is supplemented with a brief example of an possible examination. In the end of the thesis a research project is being proposed. That is a project of concurrent validity of the parent- completed "Ages and Stages Questionnaires" with the Gesell scales. Tthe personality of foster parent in the system of the substitute family care in the Czech Republic

Thesis deals with the personality of foster parents in the current systém of the substitute family care in the Czech republic. The theoretical part describes the current substitute care system in our country, the specifics of foster care and the role of psychologists in the mediation process and subsequent implementation of foster care for children. All of these topics are presented based on the study of professional domestic and foreign sources and are contextualized topic personality of foster parent. The development of defense mechanisms in children of younger school age

This thesis deals with the development of defense mechanisms of children in younger school age. The theoretical part discusses the history and development of the concept of defense mechanisms, provides an overview of the diagnostic methods, which are useful to identify defense mechanisms in children and reports on the current state of research of defense mechanisms and their development in children and adolescents. At the end of the theoretical part, the concepts of "defense" based mostly on gestalt psychotherapy perspective are discussed. In the practical part, the children of the research group in younger school age were tested with The Fairy Tale Test and The Thematic Apperception Test. The results are discussed with regard to age, sex, inteligence and also considering the results of other research methods. Data based on psychoanalytical concepts are compared with results of the questionnaire based on gestalt psychoterapy theories of contact cycle and contact styles. Two parents (or the closest adults) evaluated their children by the questionnaire and inventory of typical contact styles. Problem behavior in children with autism spectrum disorder

Bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of problem behavior in children with autism spectrum disorders. It defines the term autism spectrum disorders, brief description and the prevalence. It also discusses the problem behavior, the definition and specific examples. Attention is also paid to the causes and role of this behavior for children. It describes the most common problem behaviors and interventions that work with it. The theoretical part concludes with a chapter devoted to applied behavioral analysis, which is working with problem behavior very successful. Briefly outlines the history of this therapeutic approach, its basic principles when working with problem behavior and possible negatives. The neuropsychological development screeing NES:Further testing of the czech version

Neuropsychological developmental screening (NES) is a German tool (published in 2005) for assessing eight fields of development of children aged 3 to 24 months. It is designed for pediatritians, early intervention specialists and psychologists. This thesis builds on A. Klapetek's thesis and aims to verify and check accurancy of Czech translation of the tool by administring the test to a group of Czech children. A. Klapetek conducted a pilot study of the tool. 50 children (10 for every age group) were administred the translation which was being refined during the field research. She also planned further steps to applying NES. Literature review of the thesis deals with developmental characteristics of infants and toddlers. Psychological assessment of young children and its uses and risks are described. The thesis also persues developmental scales, their history and present state. Theoretical concept of the Neuropsychological developmental screening (NES) is introduced. During the field research a group of 50 children was assessed by Czech translation of the tool, and the same group was tested by Developmental screening (Kovařík). Results of the testing were used to discuss existing norms of the tool, to identify problematic exercises (both too difficult and too easy) and to statistically analyse...
