A qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews was used to research a sample of 15 respondents aged 18-34 living in Czechia. The research helped uncover the reasons leading to the use of video on demand, including content availability, simplicity and accessibility of the platforms, a large content offer, the influence of their close ones, absence of ads, the possibility of accessing content legally, and the desire to improve language skills. When choosing a specific platform to use, young adults consider the availability of specific content on the platform and the user interface. Their habits in using a particular platform also factor into their decision-making. The research showed that using video on demand fulfils six primary functions: relaxation, education, socialization, filling free time, and escapism. Viewers either watch content with...

Dumbrovská, Zuzana ; Kruml, Milan (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
The thesis focuses on the comparison of noon and evening news spots in Czech Television and TV Nova. The aim is to find out how much broadcasting time is devoted to the fire in Bohemian Switzerland, which is considered to be one of the largest and worst fires in the Czech Republic. We examine the period from the outbreak of the fire for approximately a week, when the situation is still on going (more precisely 24.7. - 31.7.2022). We analyze the following sessions: Události and Televizní noviny, Zprávy ve 12 and Polední Televizní noviny. We will use a quantitative analysis to provide clear, accurate and verifiable results. In addition to numerical analysis, we will also focus on the order of individual news items in the broadcast and compare events in Bohemian Switzerland with other events that have occurred in Czech Republic and around the world. The aim is to determine whether the media is subject to campaignibility, which means that media favors a particular issue over others, regardless of their actual importance. The results of this thesis could be used for further analyses in the future, which could include a larger research period and more media types.

Both figures passed away shortly after each other in 2023. The text describes in detail the lives and political careers of both figures, their impact on the world, and the current perception of their characters. Mikhail Gorbachev is often referred to as the greatest politician of the 20th century. He served as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1985 to 1991 and was also its sole President from 1990 to 1991. He advocated for economic and political changes that led to the democratization of the Soviet Union. In 1990, he even received the Nobel Peace Prize. The figure of Mikhail Gorbachev is still perceived very differently by Russians, the global public, politicians, and the academic community. Queen Elizabeth II reigned as the Queen of fifteen independent states known as the Commonwealth realm from 1952 to 2022. During her reign, there were several significant milestones that influenced the perception of the Queen and the entire British royal family. As an example, her ascension to the throne and coronation in 1953 was...
