Czechoslovak Airlines in the second half of the 20th century
Hejnová, Tereza ; Jakubec, Ivan (advisor) ; Štemberk, Jan (referee)
(in English): This paper is devoted to the historical development of the carrier Czechoslovak Airlines (Československé aerolinie). It analyzes the establishment of new flight routes under the influence of the global political constellation at the time. The growth of such a company crucially relies on the ownership of adequate aviation technology - an issue which is also being addressed in this paper. The need for better aviation technology, in particular aircraft as such, brings into stark relief the larger issue of the bipolar division of the world during that period. Sources drawn upon by the author of this paper primarily include material in the ČSA record group of the State Regional Archive in Prague.

The Laurin & Klement Power Plants and Electrification Process at Central Jizera District
Chmelenský, Jiří ; Jakubec, Ivan (referee) ; Štemberk, Jan (referee)
Water power plants on the Jizera river are one of very interesting chapters of electrification process in Czech lands. Near a small town of Mnichovo Hradiště at the Central Bohemia Region were built four small water power plants. They were built for electrical supplying of the car factory Laurin & Klement. Electric energy produced by water power plant didn't need war rations of black or brown coal during the First World War. These water power plant were bought by Škoda Plzeň. In 1927 they were sold to Dražické družstevní závody (Dražice cooperative factory - DCF). This article is based on archives and terrain research. I looked for archive materials at Skoda Auto archive in Mladá Boleslav. All four water power plants have still been producing electrical energy, but only the last water power plant has never been reconstructed, the one at Mladá Boleslav - Rožátov. There you can still find all original machines at original positions. In others three water plants original machines were scrapped. One original transmission bell wheel and one generator still exist out of the building of water power plant at Hněvousice. There still exist 28 brick distribution transformers.

Hoffmannová, Soňa ; Štemberk, Jan (advisor) ; Šalanda, Bohuslav (referee)
"Reflection of Haute Couture in The Czech lands" deals with fashion in the second half of the 19th century and early 20th century in the Czech lands. Before confirmation of national independence in the form of Czechoslovak republic the Czech fashion was evolving between two opposing tendencies. First, there was acceptance of influence from abroad, especially from France, England and Germany particularly through fashion magazines, and second, there was an effort to preserve national originality. The target of this thesis is not the analysis of fashion trends in the Czech environment but analysis of fashion as a phenomenon linked to wider societal aspects, political affiliations, construction of national identity and specific, nearly missing position of Czech aristocracy. This thesis monitors the status of a tailor in the Czech lands, his struggle with the beginning of apparel production and compares his emplacement with the French tailors, also known as coutiers who have created an autonomous and independent status of the clientele already in the second half of the 19th century.

The journal that focused on health was Zdraví lidu magazine. This thesis focuses on years 1923, 1928, 1933 and 1938. Articles in this magazine were intended to laic readers and the style of writing about health was adapted them. Authors have written in "laical style" with minimum of technical terms, simply and in detail. Articles were written as scientific- popular texts that educated readers, or as detailed instructions how to take care of health. In all four analysed years, the value of health was associated with the health of the nation, not individuals. The nation had to be healthy and strong to resist.
