Tubingen Antithesis
Šamšula, Jiří ; Štefan, Jan (advisor) ; Macek, Petr (referee)
This thesis discusses an experiment in contemporary German Protestant theology to interpret the meaning of salvific death of Jesus Christ through category of expiation, respectively expiation sacrifice of post-exile Old Testament Priest-Theology, which was examined of biblical and systematic theologians connected with the Theological faculty in Tübingen, which responded to criticism of cultic ideas in Christology in 20th century. In the first chapter I reflect the latest debate on the Cross of Christ in Germany, where the traditional concepts such as sacrifice, reconciliation and expiation (German "Sühne") are sharply criticized. In the second chapter, I also reflect the current debate about Christ's cross in the Czech theological discussion, which aroused over the book of Jakub Trojan, and I find that some of his opponents used Tübingen antithesis. In the third chapter I reflect, in which systematic-theological coordinates interpretation of the redemptive significance of Jesus' death is traditionally introduced, in relation with three historical models soteriologické Gustaf Auléna (Latin, classical, liberal). In the fourth, the terminology chapter I distinguish expiace concept from the traditional concept of reconciliation. In the fifth chapter I summarize the criticism of cultic ideas in the 20th...

The Apostles'Creed according to J.M. Lochman and according to Karl Barth
Němec, David ; Štefan, Jan (advisor) ; Macek, Petr (referee)
This bachelor's work The Apostles' Creed according to J. M. Lochman and according to Karl Barth deals with the comparison of commentaries of J. M. Lochman and K. Barth to the Christology of the Apostles' creed. Lochman's book The Faith We Confess. An Ecumenical Dogmatics is used as an initial text that is subsequently compared to the text of three Barth's books: Credo, Das Glaubensbekenntnis der Kirche and Dogmatik im Grundriss. Because of its defined scope, this work deals just with first four chapters of the Christology part of the Creed. In connection with the Creed these chapters has the title "... I believe in Jesus Christ", "... His only Sun, our Lord", "... He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary", "... He suffered under Pontius Pilate". First the context of the appropriate chapters from Lochman's book and relevant comments from the above-mentioned Barth's books are summarized. The main focuses and differences of both authors are described at the end. Barth's books Credo and Das Glaubensbekenntnis der Kirche were Geman issues dated 1948 and 1967, respectively; Lochman's The Faith We Confess and Barth's Dogmatik im Grundriss are Czech translations dated 1996 and 1952, respectively.
Human openness : In theology of Karl Rahner and Wolfhart Pannenberg
Valeš, Jan ; Štefan, Jan (advisor) ; Houkal, Jan (referee) ; Macek, Petr (referee)
The thesis Human openness : In theology of Karl Rahner and Wolfhart Pannenberg is dealing with the term 'openness' in a theological sense when it speaks of an essential characteristics of human being. Rahner and Pannenberg surpass all the other authors in 20-th century who use this term in their consistency of usage and richness of its meaning. First and largest part of the thesis offers analysis of both authors and their usage of the term, from earliest works to the final comprehensive presentations of their systematic theology. Second part takes the term under the test of imago Dei doctrine, teaching about sin, and about the salvation in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Secondary literature helps to see value of their theology. One of the results of this test is the fact that we can speak about one notion of openness since the similarities of both authors prevail over the differences. Third part of the thesis offeres creative possibilities of work with notion of openness. Conclusion contains suggested definition of the notion by these two authors. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
May Little Children be Baptised?
Lamser, Jan ; Štefan, Jan (advisor) ; Macek, Petr (referee)
The Purpose of this writing is to address the issue of paedobaptism from the perspective of dogmatics. It contains an historical and confessional overview. It articulates the open issues and demonstarates, that so far no fundamentally balanced dogmatic reflection has been developed. Consequently, individual dogmatic views and positions have largely suffered from offering just partial perspectives. It seems critical to avoid such drawback while setting sound methodological background for such type of research. In the following sections an absence of a robust general methodology in the area of sacramentology is observed, an attempt to articulate key attributes of such metodology is presented, taking into account approaches taken so far. Such approaches are structurally analysed through metanarrative, research discipline, discours, argumentative logic. Finally, a practicable approach to deal with abundant available relevant theological material is proposed. Such an approach, if applied, might offer more holistic perspective on paedobaptism. The Problem of Salvation of Non-Christians.
Říčan, Marek ; Štefan, Jan (advisor) ; Hošek, Pavel (referee) ; Kišš, Igor (referee)
ANOTATION This work deals with the controversial issue of the salvation of non-Christians. Its purpose is to search for a solution while probing various positions that have been argued. The salvation of non-Christians has been an issue in the history of theology from its rudiments until present times. Firstly we will present it in the context of postmodern thought as it reverberates in the life and theology of the churches as well as through the prism of our subject. We will track the meaning of the individual components of our subject in Scripture and in the theological tradition. Afterwards we will expound what Scripture says concerning the salvation of non-Christians in so far as it offers a solution. Then several chapters follow describing various other solutions of this issue that have been offered. At first will we adumbrate the issue in historical perspective. Then we will turn to its interpretation by selected theologians of the 20th century. Next comes an analysis of fundamental directions in the present conversation: exclusivism, inclusivism, and pluralism. The last major section points to some theological areas in which the solution of our subject was or is being searched for. In conclusion I will attempt to present my own solution, though a partial one, inclusivistic in its direction.
Literature in the works of theologians - the example of Karl Barth and Rudolf Bultmann
Lis, Marek ; Zbytovský, Štěpán (advisor) ; Štefan, Jan (referee)
The aim of the proposed Bachelor thesis named Literature in the works of theologians - the example of Karl Barth and Rudolf Bultmann is to assess the significance of German literature in selected works of the aforementioned theologians. In the case of Karl Barth's, the analysis is concerned with the reception of classical German authors (Römerbrief, 1919) and Dostoevsky (Römerbrief, 1922). A separate part is devoted to examining the relevant excerpts from his correspondence with the German writer Carl Zuckmayer towards the end of the theologian's life. In Rudolf Bultmann's cas, the attention is pointed at broader hermeneutic contexts, especially at the relations of culture and religion after the World War I, and Bultmann's reaction to Deschner's criticism of the role of religion from the end of the 1950s, Furthermore, an analysis of a selection of homilies form after the World War I is included, along with a brief characterization the specifics of this particular discourse. Although the grounds of this work are based on selections, its conclusion essays to argue that the function of literature may both subordinate to the Christian revelation, which creates its intelligible context and is able to answer its questions, and wholly autonomous as well, wherein literature articulates a theological them...
The Holy Spirit in the Paschal Events; The Cross and Resurrection in the Pneumatologies of S. Bulgakov, Y. Congar and J. Moltmann
Kupfová, Kristýna ; Štefan, Jan (advisor) ; Macek, Petr (referee)
The thesis deals with the personnality and role of the Holy Spirit inside the Paschal events. The initial assumption is taken that the Holy Spirit as one of the Persons of the Trinity is an active part of the decisive moment of salvation, however, at the same time, He is often omitted, especially at the Cross. That is why this thesis is not based on texts dealing with the Paschal theme, but primarily results from works of pneumatology and "looks for the Easter events" in them subsequently. Three 20th-century pneumatologies, covering various confessional and language areas, are used as primary sources: Utěšitěl (the French translation: Le Paraclet) by an orthodox theologian Sergej Bulgakov, a representative of Russian emigration, Je crois en l'Esprit saint by a French Roman Catholic theologian Yves Congar and Der Geist des Lebens (the French translation: L'Esprit qui donne la vie) by a German Protestant theologian Jürgen Moltmann. The first chapter of the thesis characterizes the three particular works of pneumatology in brief, the second compares the trinitarian concepts in them. The third chapter concentrates on subjects being both "Paschal" and pneumatological in general; it aims to be a source for the following chapter. The fourth chapter represents the theme of the thesis itself, i.e. the presence of...

The Research Report is output of the project NEMENUS dealing with methodology development of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) for nuclear power plant components. SHM incorporates advanced methods for evaluation of structural operating safety. It consists in continuous monitoring of critical structure parts by advanced Nondestructive Testing (NDT) methods enabling assessment of their residual lifetime. The literature search part of this report comprises different aspects of the main problems including history of SHM systems applications at civil and mechanical structures, and also the newest SHM trends in nuclear and non-nuclear industry. The material damage mechanisms in nuclear power plant environment are also discussed in the report. At the report end there is indicated practical realization of the project results and SHM verification on a model structure.
An experimental investigation of yield surfaces anisotropies
Štefan, Jan ; Parma, Slavomír ; Marek, René ; Plešek, Jiří ; Feigenbaum, H. P. ; Ciocanel, C.
This contribution is dedicated to a rigorous experimental procedure for evaluation of yield surfaces of common metallic materials. This yield surface tracing procedure employs thin-walled tubular specimens to identify individual yield points of the material under arbitrary combinations of axial load and torque. A yield point is identified on the basis of a prescribed threshold for the effective plastic strain that is being continuously and fully automatically evaluated throughout the test. The experimental results generated with this tracing method are promising, leading to shapes of the yield surfaces conform with the von Mises criterion. The proposed methodology can effectively capture the YS shape.
