Šoltys, Adam ; Zemanová, Štěpánka (advisor) ; Rolenc, Jan Martin (referee)
The master thesis analyses motivation of Canada and India to participate in peacekeeping operations and on the basis of the analysis evaluates whether their motivation is driven by national or ethical interest. Firstly, those two types of interest are defined as antipodes and subsequently operationalized into the analytical apparatus. Secondly, case studies of Canada and India are applied in this apparatus. Furthermore, their motivation is analyzed both on the level of particular peacekeeping operations and long term foreign policy.

Šoltys, Adam ; Havlová, Radka (advisor) ; Novotná, Yvona (referee)
The war on terrorism proceeds mainly on the home front where the media play essential role. After 9/11 the media significantly influenced American public opinion on Islam and later invasions of Islamic countries by western powers. The aim of the thesis is not only to outline the influence of the media in the war on terrorism but also describe and analyse the White House propaganda and reasons why the majority of Americans supported the invasion of Iraq.Important part of the project is also the evaluation of change of the relationship between the media and the government after 9/11 and its other possible evolution.
