A comparison between Malcolm Knowles` and Jack Mezirow`s theories of adult learning

The aim of this bachelor thesis comprise of a presentation and a comparison between Malcolm Knowles's theory of Andragogy and the Transformative learning theory of Jack Mezirow. Both theories are very popular in the USA, but there is not a sufficient attention dedicated to them in the Czech literature. The comparison is built on the basis of three criterions. The fisrt criterion includes inspirational sources of the authors, the second criterion takes into consideration the conception of the adult educator and finaly the conception of the learner constitutes the third criterion. The Specification of Lecturers in the Leisure Adult Education - Guides at the Historical Monuments

This bachelor thesis approaches guides at historical monuments as the lecturers of leisure adult education. It begins with characterizing leisure education in the context of andragogy and in the life of an adult, then shifts to the issue of lecturers in the leisure adult education. The thesis indicates lecturer's roles and requirements posed on them, outlines opportunities for their progress and professionalization, and summarize basic competencies and characteristics of lecturers in the leisure education and adult education in general as well. For this thesis is fundamental the guide activities at historical monuments (from the leisure adult educator's position). Through the outcomes of questionnaire survey, it shows the guide's characteristics from three viewpoints, it clarifies the contemporary situation of the guide's education and attitudes of guides and their supervisors to possible further education in terms of the guide's job. The specifics of teacher's education

Dissertation is focused on the continuing education of teachers in terms of the current legisla-tion of the European Union and the Czech Republic as one of the key adaptive mechanisms that ensure the ability of the education system to adequately respond to the ever changing so-cial conditions in today's globalized world. The theoretical part through the analysis of different theoretical approaches to further education, defines and describes the issue of further education of teachers, the system - specific conditions, areas and its financing. It deals with the areas of the teacher's profession, their competences, career structure and professional standards. The empirical part of this dissertation, based on empirical research, describes the system of further education of teachers both in terms of school managment, and from the perspective of teachers and it maps specific factors affecting the quality of the current further education of teachers. Work-Life Balance and its influence to individuals' leisure time

This thesis explores the balance between work and personal life and its impact on individuals' leisure time. The first part begins with a discussion of the issues surrounding work-life balance and then focuses on the phenomenon of leisure and its importance in the lives of individuals. In order to contextualize this discussion, this thesis presents the relevant theories in the field and identifies their role in the development of leisure time in relation to work. Folowing part examines the concept of work-life balance in organizations and identify the different means of realization, such as flexible work arrangements and employee benefits. Also included is an empirical study that is carried out through a questionnaire survey. This investigation is focused on the influence of work and its aspects on leisure time and work-life balance of university-educated individuals who are currently employed. This empirical study should contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between work and personal life regarding individuals leisure time. - 5 - SUMMARY This thesis is dedicated to the assessment of the current state of education and care for the elderly, and outlines ways to improve care through education and, ultimately, to achieve life satisfaction of seniors. The thesis is written in the form of a comparison of scholarly sources dealing with the education and care of the elderly, and the current legislation of the Czech Republic. The thesis also includes an empirical study which draws on a quantitative questionnaire survey in a selected nursing home. This investigation aims at further education of the elderly and its effect on life satisfaction of population in this age group. Seniors education on the example of theproject Third Age

This thesis presents senior education. Due to the increasing number of older people in our society, senior education has become important way how to keep them in an active lifestyle. The beginning of this thesis is devoted to the theoretical bases of senior education. There are explained terms like aging, old age, senior and introduced fundamental involution changes that relate to senior. The main part of this work is focused on the project Third Age, which has been implemented in the City Library in Louny. The implementation of the project joined in the region several hundred people and because of it the project became the largest such project in the district of Louny. The project is a successful example of good practice addressing seniors' education at the regional level. Empirical investigation finished off the main passage of the thesis. It is aimed at finding the motivation to education and its potential barriers that they perceive the project participants. The empirical part of the thesis was carried out by questionnaire survey. The motivation of non-professional musicians from the conductor's perspective

This bachelor thesis: The motivation of non-professional musicians from the conductor's perspective deals with motivation in amateur choirs. First, overview of relevant information about motivation from literature will be provided, in particular how it works and how to use it for effective stimulation in leading a choir. The importance of leisure education and its specifics and possibilities will be demonstrated to explain how it works in amateur choirs. The psychological aspect of conductor's work is also significant, with focus on the personality of musicians, specifically conductors and choir members. The choirmaster also has a set of tools, which will be mentioned in this thesis, that influence the motivation of the choir. Objective of this work is to provide conductors with deeper insight into the issues of leading and appropriate motivation of musicians, to fulfil demanding requirements that are coming from all sides. This work is enriched by field research - interviews with five conductors and a survey of choir members. Conductors present their ensembles and their point of view on what is important in their work to become successful. The questionnaire focuses on motivation of choir members. This all contributes to deeper understanding of the conductor's job and gives suggestions and hints...
Preferences in key elements of a didactic process of non-formal education of adult learners from the perspective of age cohorts

4 Abstract The aim of this bachelor thesis is to identify preferences in key elements of the didactic process, namely in didactic forms, didactic methods, teacher roles, teaching aids, didactic technology and seating arrangements, at those adults, who have been participating in at least one non-formal educational activity in the last twelve months, depending on the age cohort they belong to. Based on relevant educational literature, the first three chapters cover a description of a didactic process and its key areas, material and non-material didactic means, which are further divided into particular elements. In the fourth chapter, there is a definition of the age cohorts and a description of their specifics both in general and in the field of didactics. The fifth chapter is dedicated to a preparation and a realisation of the quantitative questionnaire survey at those members of age cohorts, who have been participating in at least one non-formal educational activity in the last twelve months. Based on these findings, the differences in preferences in key elements of the didactic process at the age cohorts are stated. Education as a tool for improving the quality of seniors' life

This bachelor's work focuses on education of elderly people, especially whether education influences the quality of their lives. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part summarises the findings of three thematic parts (old age and getting old, quality of life and the meaning of education for quality of life of elderly people) based on foreign and Czech literature. The work inspects the process of ageing and old age by using appropriate resources, it also inspects this issue from the demographic point of view, the role of international organisations concerning ageing issues, quality of life term definition, its dimensions, models and measurements. Then the work defines the concept of active ageing and deals with its determinants, the importance of education for a quality of life in old age, purpose of education of the elderly, its specifics and educational possibilities in the Czech Republic. The other empirical part focuses on quantitative correlation between satisfaction and education of the elderly people, areas of their interests and reasons for not participating in educational activities.
