Analysis of the process of compression of mortality in selected developed countries
Šebík, Jan ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to describe of the process of mortality compression using indicators of life span and mortality compression in selected developed countries based on the data availability. Czechia and 11 developed countries from Europe and USA, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand were selected. The source of the data is Human Mortality Database, where data are available mostly only from the 20th century and therefore part of the historical development is presented on the example of Sweden with data going from the year 1751. The most frequently mentioned and used indicators describing the variability of the age at death and the process of mortality compression and rectangularization of survival curve were used in this thesis. The main starting point was the assumption that the shift of deaths to a higher age manifests itself as compression of mortality. Compression of mortality means the concentration of deaths to a narrower age range, which reduces the variability of age at death, and makes the survival curve more rectangular. Selected indicators in this diploma thesis describe life expectancy, distribution (percentiles) of deaths in the life table, concentration of deaths and variability of age at death. Deaths are currently concentrated around modal age, but most...
Analysis of the process of compression of mortality in selected developed countries
Šebík, Jan ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to replicate the results of previous studies of the process of compression of mortality and rectangularization of survival curve in selected developed countries based on the data availability. The source of the data is Human Mortality Database, where data are available mostly only from the 20th century and therefore part of the historical development is presented on the example of Sweden with data going from the year 1751. The most frequently mentioned and used indicators describing the variability of the age at death and the process of compression of mortality and rectangularization of survival curve were used in this thesis. The main starting point was the assumption that the shift of deaths to a higher age manifests itself as compression of mortality. Compression of mortality means the concentration of deaths to a narrower age range, which reduces the variability of age at death, and makes the survival curve more rectangular. Selected indicators describe life expectancy, distribution (percentiles) of deaths in the life table, concentration of deaths and variability of age at death. Deaths are currently concentrated around modal age, but most people died in childhood in the past. Consequently, indicators of concentration of deaths are calculated from deaths...
Analysis of the differentiation of financial indicators of companies in the Czech Republic by sector and location of the headquarters
Šebík, Jan ; Pláničková, Markéta (advisor) ; Pham, Hoang Long (referee)
The goal of this diploma thesis was to verify the hypothesis about the differentiation of financial indicators by sector and location of the company's headquarters. For the purpose of the paper, four divisions were selected in the CZ-NACE classification, including 21 645 analysed units in the years 2010 to 2015. The sectoral indicators used in the financial analysis were calculated for the following branches - profitability, liquidity, indebtedness and activity. In addition to the sector, other factors were tested for statistically significant differences in averages - the size of the company and the size of the municipality where the company is located. Part of the analysis of the influence of the location of the company's headquarters was testing of global spatial autocorrelation using Moran's I criterion. One of the outcomes is whether it is important to include the sectoral factor, company size and location of the headquarters in the financial analysis when comparing with sectoral indicators.
Regional analysis of cause-specific mortality in European countries
Šebík, Jan ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Pachlová, Tereza (referee)
The goal of this bachelor thesis was to identify regional inequalities of cause-specific mortality in NUTS 2 regions (28 European Union countries, Iceland, Norway, Macedonia, Switzerland) and analyse their development from 1999 to 2010. The analysis was carried out individually for each sex because of different mortality intensity between sexes. The mortality intensity was analysed through age- standardized mortality rates and life expectancy at birth. These indicators enabled international comparison of NUTS 2 regions. More detailed analysis was created for five main groups of causes of death: diseases of the circulatory system, neoplasms, diseases of the respiratory system, diseases of the digestive system and external causes of mortality. Generally, the age-standardized cause-specific mortality decreased in Europe but in some regions it increased. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
