In cooperation of the automation company Proteco Pardubice the complete replacement of classic analogue control units of next two bioreactors by new, PLC driven local control systems for all monitored and controlled parameters was done. Some measuring devices and actuators were substituted by a new technique too and, moreover, a new central SCADA/HMI (Reliance, Geovap Pardubice) system of the set of bioreactors was introduced and the remaining analogue driven fermentors were integrated into it

Introducing and adapting of automated systems of process control contribute to the technology optimisation both from the yield view and fermentation time saving. The substrate feed is controlled according to the actual catabolic need of microbial culture. The total yield did not increase significantly (1.4%, relative standard deviation 4%), but a positive influence on the fermentation time (minus 12%) was found.
