Mieczysław Karłowicz and his violin concerto

This bachelor’s thesis adresses the topic called „Mieczysław Karłowicz and his violin concerto“. As a method it uses analysis of collected data from historical sources and editions of sheet music.
In its first chapter it summarizes the life and work of Mieczysław Karłowicz, adresses his style of musical expression and lists some of his main musical inspirations.
The second chapter describes the circumstances of the concerto’s creation and brings an overview of sheet music editions and recordings.
The following third chapter includes the formal and harmonical analysis of the violin concerto, with many supplementary examples from the scores.
The last fourth chapter closes the topic with an analysis of the most challenging technical problems of the solo part, which are demonstrated by additional examples from sheet music editions by I. Dubiska, G. Barinova and A. Cofalik.

Media Image of the Czech Philharmonic in 1996 and 2016

Bachelor thesis called Media Image of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in 1996 and 2016 is focused on an analysis and a comparison of the most important Czech orchestra’s media outcomes during two periods, in which 100th and 120th anniversary of the Czech Philharmonic were celebrated. The analyzed media are: Mladá fronta Dnes, the best-selling Czech broadsheet newspaper, and Hudební rozhledy, one of the most important Czech classical music magazines since 1948. This thesis should target, how the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra was presented in media and how it changed its media image.

Music in crematoria and tradition of the krematorium Pardubice artistic group

The bachelor thesis deals with music in the crematoria and tradition of the artistic team of the crematorium in Pardubice. The first chapter characterizes the meaning and tradition of funeral ceremonies across history and religious denominations. The second one describes the history of crematoria in Bohemia and Europe. The third chapter is about the architecture of the Pardubice crematorium and the fourth one depicts the beginning of the local musical production and artistic background. The fifth chapter deals with the development of the artistic group in Pardubice, it provides a list of all the musicians who have worked here between 1923 and 2018. The last chapter defines the repertoire of the ensemble and its development.

O. F. Korte and his compositions for violin

This bachelor's thesis titled O. F. Korte and his compositions for violin is divided into four chapters. In the first two chapters, I introduce composer's life, compositional work and circumstances, which influenced him in his work and were inspiration for him. After, there are briefly described four compositions of his work. The second part of this bachelor's thesis describes compositions, composed for violin and piano. The first one is “Philosophical dialogues” and the second one is “Elihu contra Job”. In this compositions the reasons of origin in detail, their premieres and individual parts are being described. Penultimate chapter contains thematic motif analysis of all four movements of “Philosophical dialogues”.

This thesis introduces physical problems of violin players and their solutions. I used music practice books, various theses and an interview with an expert about physical problems. My aim is to analyze basic information on locomotory disorders and their solutions. This thesis suggests how to teach beginner violin and children in the correct body posture.

Violin Concertos by J. Sibelius and B. Bartok No. 2 - interpretations of Isaac Stern, Gil Shaham and Viktoria Mullova

This diploma thesis is focused on comparison of performance styles of three
world class violinists – Isaac Stern, Gil Shaham and Viktoria Mullova. This
comparison is achieved by a detailed analysis of interpretation of two selected
violin concertos of different characteristics. From individual details we shall
conclude overall violin performance characteristics of individual violinists.
The thesis consists of three chapters. The first one deals with brief
autobiography of the composers and violinists. The topic of the second chapter is
a comparison of actual interpretation of violin concert by Jean Sibelius, the third
one compares the interpretation of Bartok’s second violin concert.

Bohuslav Matoušek: violinist by body and soul

This thesis introduces to its readers artistic and professional life of Bohuslav Matoušek, outstanding renowned czech violinist and pedagogue. It also describes his great successes in the field of music recordings, the most it zooms on recording and production of the complete works of Bohuslav Martinů for concertante violin (and viola). This extraordinary set of complete works by Martinů had a great success worldwide, because of that I also attach excerpts of reviews and critique from abroad.
These are followed by listing the most significant solo recordings and some
of the interviews for Czech press. At the very end this thesis contains an analysis
of Mr. Matoušek‘s recording of the violin concerto in D major Op. 77 by Johannes
Brahms from 1988.

EUGÈNE YSAŸE, FRITZ KREISLER: THE GREAT VIOLINISTS AND COMPOSERS

My thesis focuses on two significant artistic persons of the turn of the 19th and 20th century - Eugene Ysaÿe and Fritz Kreisler. The work represents two important violinists, who were outstanding composers as well. This is confirmed by their works, which notably enriched the violin music literature. The first half of the thesis is dedicated to the Belgian violinist and composer, Eugene Ysaÿe - whose work is an integral part of every violinist's repertoire nowadays - while the other half is dedicated to the life and work of Fritz Kreisler.
