The new finding of a K- bentonite ( tuffite ) seam 22b ( 080.2 OKD " tuffite Ivan " ) in Petřkovice Mbr Ostrava Formation ( Namur A) in the Czech part of the Upper Silesian Basin
Martinec, Petr ; Hoch, I. ; Ščučka, Jiří
New finding of a K-bentonite (tuffite) horizon comes from a mine borehole Staric II 938/13 (depth of 7,6 - 7,62 m). It belongs to the Petrkovice Mbr (Namurian A, Pendleian) in the Ostrava Fm. It occurs 2,3 m in overburden of coal seam 22b (080.2 numeration after Ostrava Mine District). The horizon is located 58 m above the coal tonstein of the coal seam 21d (077 OKD). This K-bentonite horizon is of local importance and will be used for correlation of coal seams in mine field Staric in the Czech part of the Upper Silesian coal basin.

Determination of grain size distribution of compact granular geo-materials using optical microscopy image analysis
Ščučka, Jiří ; Koutník, P. ; Martinec, Petr ; Vičarová, H.
Procedures of image analysis for determination of grain size distribution of compact psammitic rocks and geocomposite materials based on sands grouted with polyurethane resins are presented in the paper. It can be concluded from the experimental results that the image analysis represents an effective tool for assessment of grain size and morphology of compact granular geo-materials. This is a relatively cheap and not time-consuming way of granulometric analysis usable in engineering geology, geotechnics and construction or building-restoration practise.
Possibilities of change of grain size distribution and surface treatment of particles disintegrated by high speed water jet
Martinec, Petr ; Sitek, Libor ; Ščučka, Jiří ; Foldyna, Josef ; Mašláň, M.
Paper deals with possibilities of further surface treatment of micas and vermiculite particles prepared by water jet disintegration. The paper is a follow-up to paper on the preparation of precursors and carriers of nanoparticles by water jet technology presented in these Proceedings.
Erosion of metals by pulsating water jet
Klich, Jiří ; Foldyna, Josef ; Hlaváček, Petr ; Zeleňák, M. ; Ščučka, Jiří
The aim of the paper was to determine erosion effects of pulsating water jet impinging the surface of metal sample. The influence of repeated impacts of water pulses and impact velocity (operating pressure) on the erosion of metal surface was investigated. The development of erosion pattern with respect to number of impacts was analysed and discussed. It was found that erosion caused by repeated impacts of water pulses occurs in three stages. The stage of erosion of the surface can be determined by the behaviour of surface characteristics (such as Ra and Rz with respect to number of impacts of pulsating water jet.
Testing of Nozzles
Foldyna, Josef ; Sitek, Libor ; Ščučka, Jiří ; Klich, Jiří ; Hlaváček, Petr
Based on the request made by the company NET Ltd. Staré Město pod Sněžníkem, tests of quality of nozzles for generation of high-speed water jet were performed at the Department of material disintegration of the Institute of Geonics AS CR, v. v. i., in Ostrava. Three nozzles provided by NET were tested. The nozzles were marked as nozzle CKM – A, nozzle CKM – B, and nozzle ACMK. The nozzle quality was evaluated by the determination of their discharge coefficient at various operating pressures and by visual inspection of the quality of the nozzle and the water jet.
Adhesion between repair mortar and concrete surface processed using water jet
Mazáčová, R. ; Ščučka, Jiří ; Sitek, Libor ; Foldyna, Josef ; Hurta, J.
Results of an experiment focused on assessment of adhesion between a repair mortar and cement concrete surface processed using water jet are presented in the paper. The character of surfaces formed by both rotated continuous and rotated pulsating water jets is analysed. The adhesion between the repair mortar and processed surfaces is evaluated using adhesive strength tests.
Removal of surface layers of corroded concretes by high speed water jets
Sitek, Libor ; Bodnárová, L. ; Foldyna, Josef ; Nováková, Daria ; Ščučka, Jiří ; Martinec, Petr ; Hela, R. ; Mádr, V. ; Hlaváč, L.
Examples of removal of surface layers of concrete specimen (exposed to action of various aggressive medium) by high speed water fan jets are presented in this paper. Experimental laboratory research was focused on utilization of pulsating water jets and their comparison to commonly used continuous water jets.
Zkoušení kvality trysek
Foldyna, Josef ; Sitek, Libor ; Ščučka, Jiří
The report describes results of quality tests of nozzles for generation of high-speed water jet. The nozzle quality was evaluated by the determination of their discharge coefficient and by visual inspection of the nozzle and the water jet.
Unique colour Cetraceous sandstone from quarry Javorka in Lázně Bělohrad
Vavro, M. ; Žoček, F. ; Vavro, Leona ; Petrů, J. ; Martinec, Petr ; Ščučka, Jiří
Presented contribution gives a summary of geologocal conditions, mineragical and petrographic compositions and physical-mechanical durability properties of one, in colour and texture unusual sandstone of Czech Cetraceous Period. This stone is slightly pink and violet sandstone, nowadays exploited in qarry Javorka in Horní Nová Ves by Lázně Bělohrad and therefore sometimes also called Bělohrad sandstone.
Fan water jets in concrete disintegration
Sitek, Libor ; Martinec, Petr ; Foldyna, Josef ; Ščučka, Jiří ; Bodnárová, L. ; Hela, R. ; Mádr, V.
In this paper, possibilities of high speed water jet technology nowadays usually applied in repair of concrete structures are extended by application of so called fan (flat) jet. In concrete disintegration, one can achieve interesting results by relatively low energy intensity using such jet in co-operation with acoustic pulse generator.
