Presentation of manuscripts at exhibitions

Prezentace rukopisů na výstavách Abstract This bachelor thesis is dedicated to manuscripts and their presentation on exhibitions. I try to explain based on the relevant librarianship and curatorship literature what rules should the maker of exhibition follow, if they wish to present manuscripts without exposing them to possible harm by light, humidity or rough manipulation. The next chapter is dedicated to theory and process of making exhibitions and also the current question of making use of the modern technology while presenting medieval manuscripts. Lastly I analyse some particular exhibitions with the help of a checklist and examine whether they are in line with the abovementioned requirements. Jan Loužil - Bibliophile

Jan Loužil, a dentist from Jaroměř, is not quite famous person among Czech bibliophiles in Czechoslovakia although he also was active as a publisher of beautiful book which is by bibliophile editions of Rudolf Těsnohlídek, F. X. Šalda, Josef Pekař or Karel Čapek from 1920s and 1930s. This bachelor thesis reviewed place of Jan Loužil in context of publishing activities of bibliophile editions in Czechoslovakia based on accessible secondary literature, received correspondence from mentioned authors preserved in Literary Archive Department of Museum of Czech literature and evaluation available bibliophile edition by Jan Loužil. Bachelor thesis is enriched by book collection partly preserved in National Museum Library. Bachelor thesis will be prepared according to valid inner regulations of Faculty of Arts, Charles University and further guidelines and normative documents. The trends in older book culture in social networks

1 Abstract The presented Bachelor thesis deals with the publication of contributions on the social network Twitter which discuss the topic of older book culture. The aim of this thesis is to outline the trends in the field of presentation of older book culture. In order to fulfill the project of this thesis, Twitter accounts are divided into groups: according to the operator (institutional and private) and the type of contributions published (information concerning events, libraries and other events related to older library culture; photographs; database of other published contributions). The analysis of Twitter accounts was carried out based on of an annual examination of these accounts. The actual research of the accounts was undertaken based on of their division into groups mentioned above. It was taken into account that each of the accounts can fall into multiple categories. The research was focused mainly on the evaluation of the frequency of contributions and their impact, the way they were being shared and commented. Research of the Content of the Library of Chateau Mitrov

The aim of this work is to explore and characterize the contents of the historical collection of the Mitrov Castle Library, which was created under the influence of the noble family Skene. In the introduction, the work deals with the literature that was written about the library and the history of the castle in which the library was located. Furthermore, the work deals with the history of the original castle, remnants of which lie not far from Mitrov Castle, and of course the history of the noble family Skene, which was behind the creation of the Mitrov library. In the following chapters, the fundamentals and chronology of the fund are discussed. At the end of the work, the thesis deals with the language and thematic analysis of the library fund. Fragment of Dobroslav Orel's Library in the National Museum Library

This bachelor thesis deals with a collection of books from the property of Dobroslav Orel, which is part of the collection of the National Museum Library. The aim of the bachelor thesis Fragment of the Library of Dobroslav Orel in the National Museum Library is to find and describe individual volumes that were identified on the basis of excerpts of the accession book of the National Museum Library. The work also includes a medallion of Dobroslav Orel (1870-1942), a Czech music scientist and teacher. A comprehensive analysis of the collection of donated volumes was preceded by a survey in the Archive of the National Museum and the Czech Museum of Music in order to obtain available historical and factual context related to the gift. The individual volumes are processed by the de visu method and the acquired knowledge is processed into a list, which, in addition to the bibliographic citation and description of the individual volumes, contains a description and documentation of provenance records.
Fragment of Přemysl Pitter's (1895-1976) Library in the National Museum Library

The main focus of this dissertation is detailed analysis of a particular fraction of library collection which belonged to an eminent Czech humanist, philantropist and evangelical lay preacher Přemysl Pitter and which is currently deposited in The Library of the National Museum in Prague. Přemysl Pitter (1895-1976) donated to the Museum 84 books in total. This analysis surveys the collection from the point of topics, language and chronological order and the same time researches provenance entries in the books and also includes information about Pitter's life and personal diary which is in possession of The National Pedagogical Museum and Library of J. A. Comenius. Significant part of the thesis concentrates on analysing a songbook manuscript of Czech national songs originated in the era of the Czech national revival which is the most remarkable surviving document of this discovery.
Contribution of The Tschammer Library in Cieszyn for Retrospective National Bibliography

The subject of my thesis is the bibliographic processing of the collection of old Czech prints published until 1800 preserved in the Tschammer Library in Cieszyn. The aim is a compilation of bibliographical inventory of preserved editions to give an answer to three research questions. First question is: can a revision of former research results bring something new from the perspective of the national retrospective bibliography? Than whether and how the results of the analysis of the Czech historical collection of specifically local church library can extend the existing knowledge in the research of the history of book culture in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia? Finally, what does the analysis of the provenance of preserved copies held in the Tschammer Library bring to the history of readers, reading and book culture in the Czech lands? The introductory chapter is devoted to the development of evangelical community of Cieszyn Silesia from the 16th to the beginning of the 19th century. The second chapter presents the history of the library and the basic characteristics of its historical collections. The third chapter focuses on the results of my bibliographic research. World digital libraries for accessing medieval manuscripts Abstract The aim of the thesis is to describe and compare 10 world digital libraries that make available medieval manuscripts. At the beginning of the work, the trends in accessing medieval manuscripts will be mapped. Attention will also be paid to the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) and the possibilities of its use in digital libraries focused on medieval manuscripts. Digital libraries will be examined and compared on the basis of a checklist. Questions will focus on bibliographic records formats for manuscripts and images, the use of IIIF, and whether individual digital libraries also act as aggregators. Retrospective bibliography in the Czech Lands in the pre-modern period and in the 19th century

The aim of this bachelor thesis was to describe the development of retrospective bibliography in the Czech lands in pre-modern period and in the 19th century. It summarizes pieces of knowledge about selected bibliographies, mainly about Klíč by Antonín Koniáš and Historie literatury české by Josef Jungmann. It will deal with content and form of bibliography. In this bachelor thesis I will also analyze the attitude to foreing bibliographies.
Problem of Inner System of a Library in Work of Gabriel Naudé

This bachelor thesis deals with the inner system of a library as designed by Gabriel Naudé in his 1627 work Advis pour dresser une bibliothèque. The system designed by Naudé is being compared to other systems used in the European libraries and described in the literature of the 16th and the 17th century. The thesis then provides a description of the libraries where Naudé worked and analyzes the application of the library organization system designed by Naudé in those libraries. The last part of the thesis deals with the Naudé's work in the context of the contemporary philosophical movements and it presents the movement of "libertinage érudit" which Naudé was a part of.
