Hungarian-speaking Jews in Slovakia after World War II
Machková, Veronika ; Čapková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Szeghy-Gayer, Veronika (referee)
The aim of this MA thesis is to map the situation of Hungarian-speaking Jews in Slovakia after the Second World War. The focus is on Jews who claimed Hungarian nationality in the 1930 census, or whose nationality was assessed on the basis of Hungarian as their native language, which was the case for the majority of Jews from southern and eastern Slovakia. These Jews found themselves in the midst of the Slovak-Hungarian conflict and were accused of being disloyal to the Slovak state and nation. Under the label of disloyalty, many of them faced difficulties due to the loss of Czechoslovak citizenship and the imminent danger of expropriation of their property or even expulsion from the country. The aim of this MA thesis is to document the policies of the Czechoslovak state and the local Slovak administration towards these Jews and to map the effects of these policies on the political, legal and social status of Jews in Slovakia in their everyday life. The thesis is based on secondary literature dealing with the Hungarian and Jewish minorities in Slovakia, as well as on archival material.
Research report on the occurence and composition of autotrophic communities in Lakes Milada and Most.
Znachor, Petr ; Bešta, Tomáš ; Čapková, Kateřina ; Mareš, Jan ; Řeháková, Klára ; Čtvrtlíková, Martina ; Kučerová, Andrea
The limnological measurement and research of periphyton and aquatic macrophytes were conducted in the framework of 'Strategy AV 21, post-mining landscape restoration' in 2020. Despite the good ecological potential in Lakes Milada and Most, there are several indications of possible future deterioration of water quality (e.g., the occurrence of subsurface cyanobacterial maxima in Lake Most, excessive growth of periphyton mats in both lakes, strong bottom anoxia in Lake Milada).
Jewish Minority in Post-1968 Czechoslovakia
Geussová, Hana ; Pullmann, Michal (advisor) ; Čapková, Kateřina (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to reconstruct the living and position of the Jewish minority of Czechoslovakia in 1968-1989. The thesis focuses on outer display, i.e. achievements in cultural and religious life, inner organisation of the community, extent of participation of minority members in activities organized by Jewish bodies, and the related level of control over the community as well as individuals performed by the state authorities, and their intervention in community's inner matters. First part of the thesis specifies the monitored group and defines its structure and quantity. The description of the Jewish community's development from the end of war till 1968 follows. The main part of the thesis consists of the characteristics of relationships between the Jewish community and the state authorities and relationships existing within the Jewish community. It concentrates on the description of Jewish representatives bodies' role in relation to the Jewish minority as a whole and also on the description of activities performed by the Jewish community in the monitored period - the following parts focus on these in detail. The activities are those in cultural and social field as well as activities related to the Jewish religion. An individual chapter about Jewish youth groups is dedicated to working with young...
Comparative analysis kinesiological opposite sitting in hippotherapy in two breeds of horses
Čapková, Kateřina ; Kračmar, Bronislav (advisor) ; Novotný, Petr (referee)
Title: Influence of race of horse and speed of it's walk on timing of muscles in hippotherapy Purposes: The goal of study is to find out if race of horse and speed of it's walk approaches muscles timing in the reverse sitting position. We also pretend quadrupedal locomotion activation. That would substantiate hippotherapy with sitting-unable children. : Methods: Surface Electromyography, physiotherapeutic screening Results: Muscles timing was different with selected races as well as with different speed of walk. Quadrupedal locomotion was certified. Keywords: hiporehabilitation, hippotherpy, reverse sitting, quadrupedal locomotion, race of a horse, surface electromyography
Effect of hippotherapy on the sole in contact with a flat surface in case of children after verticalisation
Hofmeisterová, Andrea ; Čapková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Nerandžič, Zoran (referee)
The thesis deals with hippotherapy and its impact on the musculoskeletal system with a particular focus on monitoring arches of the foot. The goal of the thesis was to evaluate the effect of the hippotherapeutic method - as defined by MA. Kateřina Čapková - on the foot in case of verticalized child patients. Additionally, I aimed to find out if the PhysioSensing platform is relevant to measure children with special needs. The work is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. In the theoretical one, I analyze the method of hippotherapy for patients with cerebral palsy and pathologies of the foot, as well as concepts of their physiotherapeutic care. The empirical part assesses the results from the measuring of probands at the beginning and at the end of a one-week-lasting hippotherapeutic treatment organized by the Center of hipporehabilitation Mirákl. The research shows that the PhysioSensing platform, as a tool for objectivization of the foot of patients with physical or cognitive/mental handicaps may be valid only under very special conditions. Although it was not possible to prove the direct correlation between hippotherapy and foot-changes based on the pilot data, I suggest a precise method of measuring which might be applied in further research of the foot treatment by hippotherapy and...
The Jewish Institutions in Lower Silesia in the 1950's and 1960's
Kroupová, Anna ; Čapková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Stach, Stephan (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with Jewish institutions in Lower Silesia during the period of 50's and 60's of the 20th century. The area of focus is the Socio-Cultural Association of Jews (Towarzystwo Spoleczno-Kulturalne Zydów), which was historically the only Jewish association in Poland that was allowed to exist. The main aim of this thesis is to track down and analyse relationship of the representatives of the group with the communist party and its ideology in detail, since the party was not particularly inclined towards Jewish culture due to Israel's affinity with the West. Furthermore, after the introduction and analysis of the main sources and literature, the thesis briefly introduces a topic related to the restoration of life within the Jewish community after the World War II. After that, it concentrates on the formation and development of institutions and it follows the way members were educated in the spirit of socialism as well as how the Jewish culture was formed. The fundamental sources necessary for the study of this problematic are primarily files that came into existence as a result of certain activities of institutions, such as meetings of their bodies, documents informing about social life (invitations to events), repatriation records of the USSR saved in Archive of The Jewish...
Silica-scaled chrysophytes in spatially structured microbiotopes (case study from Aquitaine; France)
Faturová, Jana ; Němcová, Yvonne (advisor) ; Čapková, Kateřina (referee)
In protists a biodiversity hotspot could be defined as region with exceptionally high ratio of local to global species diversity. In 2012 Aquitaine (France) was revealed to represent a hotspot of Synurales (lineage within silica-scaled chrysophytes). To investigate how the diversity is distributed and where the species are hidden, samples from 42 lakes were collected during spring peak of Chrysophyte occurrence (from March 27th to March 31st ). Samples were taken in two microbiotopes - phytoplankton and metaphyton. Metaphyton was represented by different substrates (aquatic plants). I identified seventy-six species from genera Mallomonas and Synura, which confirmed Aquitaine to be a hotspot. In this thesis, I investigated ecological drivers of chrysophytes diversity and community structure. The chrysophyte diversity was driven mostly by mutual impact of pH and conductivity, north-south gradient of lakes location and sampled microbiotopes. Number of identified species increased with increasing pH and conductivity, with increasing size of waterbody and with location of the lake more towards the South. More taxa were revealed from metaphyton (77) than from plankton (61), substrates played an important role. Lakes in Aquitaine are rich in different species of aquatic plant, which immersed create...
Biological soil crusts of cold deserts of W Himalaya
ČAPKOVÁ, Kateřina
Proposed thesis is focused on the role of soil microbial crusts in the extreme environmental conditions of high-elevation cold desert of W Himalaya. Despite the importance of microbial soil crusts in arid soils, the biodiversity of their microbial communities, their role and function are still unclear. Our knowledge about functioning of these outlying ecosystems in this part of the world is still very insufficient in general. The area of Ladakh is perfect place for studying the microbial soil crust arid climate and extreme elevation aroud 6000 m a.s.l. represents unique condition for well-developed soil crusts communities. The whole region is unaffected by human activities or plant invasions, so we can study soil crusts in pristine natural condition. Our investigations is focused on soil microbial community of BSCc in Ladakh region. It combines range of aspects connected with BSCs such as taxonomical composition, changes of diversity and activity in relation to environmental condition. The thesis is the first compilation of studies concerned on microbial communities in area of Ladakh and one of the first work investigating the ecophysiology of BCSs in cold desert.
