Morphological and functional changes in microvasculature and endomysium in human atrial myocardium with atrial fibrillation
Smorodinova, Natalia ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor) ; Čížková, Dana (referee) ; Čížková, Kateřina (referee)
This doctorial thesis was focused on morphological and functional changes in microvasculature and endomysium in human atrial myocardium with atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most common arrhythmias in the clinical practice and it is associated with an increase in mortality risk that is strongly related with old age. Its pathogenesis is still not sufficiently explored. One of the generally recognized factors contributing to the initiation and maintenance of atrial fibrillation is structural remodeling of the myocardium. Structural remodeling is reflected by changes that affect both atrial cardiomyocytes as well as endomysium. We analyzed atrial biopsies obtained from patients undergoing bypass or mitral valve surgery. The patients had a regular sinus rhythm or were suffering from AF. Immunohistochemistry was used to visualize collagen I, collagen III, elastin, desmin, smooth muscle actin and VEGF in the atrial samples. To detect capillaries UEA-lectin was used. For detection of different types of immune cells the following markers were detected immunohistochemically: CD45 as a pan- leukocyte marker, CD3 for T-lymphocytes, CD68 for monocyte/macrophages, mast cell tryptase for mast cells and DC-SIGN for immature dendritic cells. Our results document that in patients...
Comparing two main community detection algorithms and their applications on human brains
Čížková, Kateřina ; Pokorná, Aneta (advisor) ; Korvasová, Karolína (referee)
Complex networks help us to understand complicated phenomena, including human brain. One of its key characteristics is its modular organization, also know as community structure. This thesis compares two main community detection algorithms, the Louvain algorithm and the label propagation algorithm. We show some differences in the rsults of the algorithms. On the other hand, we also discuss their common properties. The practical part of this thesis is devoted to community detection in human brain functional networks. It is known that the community structure of a human brain functional network changes during aging or due to some diseases. We compared the modularity and number of communities in functional networks of patients with the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis before and after a neurorehabilitation therapy. We did not find any significant change considering the whole dataset. However, the modularity changed in the functional net- works of the six patients with a primary progressive course of multiple sclerosis. We show that there might be other minor changes in correlation with fMRI protocol or patients' gender. 1
Bullying in schools through the eyes of school principals
Čížková, Kateřina ; Svobodová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Liška, Roman (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with bullying and conflicts in the school environment, specifically in the environment of kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and how the principals of these schools view bullying. Bullying in the school environment is a frequently discussed phenomenon and a problem that needs to be addressed, hence it was chosen as a current topic for this thesis. The theoretical part describes the knowledge about conflicts and bullying - definitions of conflict and bullying, classification, manifestations and causes, methods of solution and prevention, as well as history. The empirical part deals with in depth interviews with school principals, who answer questions about bullying at their school as part of qualitative research. The possible occurrence of bullying and conflicts, the awareness and experience of school principals, as well as their views on bullying and conflicts in education are identified. Furthermore, the methods of prevention and solutions that the school chooses are found out. The work is based on methodological approaches of grounded theory. The data from the interviews are analyzed, then divided into appropriate categories and subcategories using coding method. There are mutual relations between the categories, which can be seen in the created scheme at the...
The Women in the Unity of the Brethren
Čížková, Kateřina ; Hrdlička, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Lášek, Jan Blahoslav (referee)
In my work I address the issue of women throughout the historical development of the Unity of the Brethren (also called Moravian Church). I look into the most common social roles women reached (a wife, a virgin); further I address the obligations, rights and general principles which guided their daily lives. The thesis is focused on a unique element of the Unity; namely the institution of matrons. I also discuss the issue of girls' education in the context of the work of J.A. Comenius (the last bishop of the Unity). In order to achieve greater plasticity and to make the topic more easily accessible, a description of the life of one particular Unity woman is included. Her name is Catherine of Ludanice, she was an important supporter of the Unity of the Brethren and the wife of a well-known nobleman Petr Vok of Rožmberk.
Gender and management position from the psychological perspective
Čížková, Kateřina ; Höschlová, Eva (advisor) ; Rymeš, Milan (referee)
Thesis deals with gender and its influence on management position from the psychological perspective. Initially it focuses on the general definition of gender as a social category compared to the category of sex. After that it analyses existing differences among women and men and also stereotypes associated with them. In the next part it deals with the question of gender in the field of work and organizations. In the third chapter the thesis focuses on the influence of gender on the management position in several contexts. The focal point of the paper is the analysis of different leadership styles and their application by women and men. The empirical part proposes a research design focused on the differences among women and men in leadership styles in our culture. Its aim is to analyse leadership styles in small groups and satisfaction of subordinates with their superior.
Mindfulness and orgasmic capacity of woman
Čížková, Kateřina ; Weiss, Petr (advisor) ; Schneider Hrouzková, Alexandra (referee)
In its theoretical part, this thesis summarizes the current state of knowledge in the fields of mindfulness and female sexual function. It deals with the concept of mindfulness, its definition, history, position in current research and application in therapeutic practice. In the next chapter it addresses the female sexuality focusing on orgasm and orgasmic capacity. The last chapter deals with the link of both topics and possibilities of application of mindfulness in sexual therapy. The empirical part of this thesis consists of a quantitative research. The goal of the study is to specify a relation between the mindfulness level and orgasmic capacity of Czech women, using a short form of Five facet mindfulness questionnaire (FFMQ-15) and Female sexual function index (FSFI). Data were collected through an internet survey. There were 223 women aged 18-40 in the sample. Using Spearman correlation, a significant correlation was found between mindfulness and sexual function, mindfulness and orgasmic capacity, mindfulness and vaginal orgasmic capacity and mindfulness and satisfaction with orgasmic capacity. The results are discussed in comparison to other current research and they show both the complexity of the relation between mindfulness and orgasmic capacity and the potential of mindfulness in the...

Conit verdict in translation
Čížková, Kateřina ; Svoboda, Tomáš (referee) ; Uhle, Dorothea (advisor)
V rámci této diplomové práce je provedena kontrastivní textová analýza textového druhu soudního rozhodnutí (rozsudku) na třech textových rovinách (makrostruktura, mikrostruktura: jazykové šablony a slovní spojení). V teoretické části jsou definovány pojmy textový druh, makrostruktura, mikrostruktura textu, jazykové šablony a slovní spojení. Prostor je věnován rovněž problematice jazyka práva a administrativního stylu. Analýza pracuje s paralelním (německé a české paralelní texty) a bilingvním (německé originály a jejich překlady do češtiny) korpusem textů. V jejím rámci je proveden popis makrostruktury (organizace obsahové výstavby pomocí dílčích textů a nadpisů), excerpce a vymezení slovních spojení a excerpce, vymezení a klasifikace jazykových šablon.
