Physico-Chemical Properties of Sludge-Char.
Moško, Jaroslav
We studied pyrolysis of dry stabilized sewage sludge in a fixed bed reactor at temperatures 400, 500, 600, 700 and 800 °C in inert helium atmosphere. The material and energy balances were evaluated and the sludge-chars were analyzed by multiple analytical tools to evaluate their physical and chemical properties.3,4 Additional spectroscopy analyses were performed on sludge-chars to prove some hypotheses based on basic characterization and to study suitability of the techniques for studying such materials.\n\n

Advanced System for Reduction of Mercury Emissions in Model Gases by Modified Sorbents.
Ružovič, Tomáš
The aim of my work is to build an apparatus for study of the Hg-sorption processes from model wet gases on differently modified solid sorbents. An important part of the work is reliable, continuous\ngeneration of water vapor on desired level of gas moisture, research of the Hg-sorption process at various model gas compositions and sorbents and monitoring the mercury removal process.

Zinc Recovery Potential of MSWI Fly Ash Acid Extraction.
Korotenko, Ekaterina
The aim of the project was to determine the recovery potential of the fly ash acid extraction on the real scale from data obtained from MSWI in the Czech Republic. For this purpose, the composition and properties of solid and liquid streams, including their short- and longterm variability, were examined. Verification of the possibility of Zn recovery from fly ash through acid extraction with flue gas treatment system scrubber liquid has been carried out. The results were compared with the published results of Zn recovery using the Swiss technology FLUWA/FLUREC and the Swedish HALOSEP.

Importance of Ageing in MSWI Bottom Ash Utilization.
Bhattarai, Sneha
The aim of this abstract is to describe in brief the phenomenon of ageing and to focus on the various changes that occur in the bottom ash matrix during this process, which makes bottom ash utilization beneficial from both ecological as well as economical point of view. Also, the effect of weathering on the trace element mobility has been researched.\n

Amphiphilic Dendritic Compounds as Drug Delivery Systems.
Edr, Antonín
To enable an easy detection of supramolecular objects assembled from 1 or 2, I am currently working on preparation of their unsymmetrical analogues 3 and 4 bearing a fluorescent tag. Final liposomes or micelles will be prepared from mixtures of fluorescent and nonfluorescent analogues.\n

Transition Metal Complexes with Aza[n]phenacene Ligands.
Váňa, Lubomír
This work is aimed at the synthesis of new aza[n]phenacenes 2(n = 4 or 5, Ar = phenyl or 2-pyridyl), where [n]phenacenes 1 with δ-lactam ring are used as starting material (Scheme 1). The resulting compounds are subsequently investigated in terms of their complexation properties with transition metals (Cu, Ni, Co, Pt, Ir) (e. g.Figure 1) due to their potential application as photoluminescent complexes.

1H NMR Metabolomic Blood Plasma Analysis for Early Detection of Pancreatic Cancer.
Michálková, Lenka
In our study, 1H NMR metabolomics was used to identify changes in the concentration of low molecular metabolites in the blood plasma of healthy controls, pancreatic cancer patients, long term type 2 diabetes mellitus patients and individuals with new-onset diabetes. Using ChenomX software, it was possible to quantify 65 metabolites across all samples.
