This diploma thesis focuses on conversion of run-down industrial compound in the village of Brněnec. Among the buildings in the compound, the most significant is Schindler's factory, which is famous for sheltering and saving hundreds of Jews during the holocaust. This remarkable and intriguing history makes it possible for the compound to be used in countless ways, that would bring this place back to life. It is nevertheless important to place the new structures into the original structure with care, as to preserve the genius loci. That's why the new buildings appear gradually more and more the further away we get from the Schindler's factory. They remain hidden behind the peripheral wall of the newly designed building, which is part of the industrial compound and preserves the distinct shape of the saw roof of the original building.
