The Nuclear Power Plant – The Green Source of Energy

This diploma thesis deals with nuclear energetics and its impact to the environment. Present state of the energetics, mainly nuclear energetics, in the Czech Republic is discussed here. Also perspective of nuclear energetics is given. The thesis describes nuclear power plant waste handling and also spent nuclear fuel handling. Nuclear power plant is compared with other sources of electric energy, which are counted to the energetic mix. The author focuses on fossil fuels and also on the renewable energy sources. The amount of produced waste to the unit of produced energy, built up area, safety and economic indicators and other parameters are followed for each source of energy.
Houseboats in Czechia - a specific form of second homes

Current geographical research on second homes deals with the complex of phenomena, processes and activities associated with objects of individual recreation. Modern society is characterized by changes leading to an increase in holidays and an increase in the proportion of free time, which is highly emphasized. One of its components is the already mentioned recreation. People spend their free time in different ways. One of them is the performance of activities second homes. Literature and many other sources deal with the study of cottages and weekend houses. Today there are also studies on new trends in the form of buying and owning apartment houses, tents or caravans. This diploma thesis discusses theoretical approaches to the research of another phenomenon, which is houseboats used as objects of second homes. Through Czech and foreign professional articles and other relevant materials, approaches to defining the term houseboat were discussed, the phenomenon of houseboats in Czech and foreign conditions was explained in the context of historical development and the system of recreation, tourism and the use of free time, as well as the evaluation of houseboats as objects used for second homes and to the residence function. Tourism trends in SIDS before and during the pandemic of COVID-19. Case study St. Martin - the Caribbean.

Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are a specific group of tourism destinations that are often economically dependent on the tourism industry. This paper examines the development of tourism in SIDS in the Caribbean before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, in which tourism was significantly restricted. The theoretical concept of the tourism area life cycle identifies the developmental stages of tourism in destinations, which, however, can be greatly affected by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The island of St. Martin was chosen for the research at the micro-regional level, where arrival numbers, activities and behaviors of tourists and day visitors were further examined. How a students leisure time can affect their level of work with a tourist map

This diploma thesis is focused on ways of spending the students leisure and their impact on the level of work with a tourist map. Part of this work is an analysis of individual map skills. The issue of leisure is discussed from different points of view. In the empirical part the results regarding the test for working with a tourist map and the questionnaire on the way of spending leisure are first presented. Furthermore, the results focused on the issue of the effect of the student's leisure activities on his work with the tourist map are evaluated. It is clear from the research that the best results were achieved by those students who use maps during their leisure time. Reading, sports and playing on a computer, tablet or mobile phone also have a positive effect on working with the map. Key words: leisure, elementary school, secondary school, map skills
Biosphere Reserves in Latin America - ecotourism and sustainable development

Tourism is one of the progressively evolving fields and due to the influence of globalization has become attractive and easily accessible matter for a broad group of people across the continents. Economical aspects of this perspective branch supported generally uncritical perception of phenomena called tourism. In recent years, however the negative impact of mass tourism became the subject of discussion and efforts are being made to find alternative forms which respect the environment and contribute to the development of the visited regions. The aim of thesis is study of ecotourism and biospheres reserves. Both concepts contribute to the achievement of sustainable development in Latin America. Biosphere Reserves based on the effort of harmonious coexistence between man and nature are the ideal environment for the application of the principles of sustainability. Ecotourism in Latin American practice is analyzed on the basis of case studies from Costa Rica and the Galapagos Islands. Operation, management and benefits of biosphere reserves for the region demonstrate examples of Guatemala and Costa Rica. New Forms of Tourism in Spain with Focus on Czech Clients

Spain currently represents one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Tourism is its important economic sector that is strongly reflected in the Spanish economy. Therefore an apparent interest could be noticed in maintain Spain competitive in the field of tourism not only in Mediterranean destinations but Europe-wide or world-wide as well. To understand the current state of tourism in this country it is neccessary to result from historical context and understand the current problems and their causes well by thus. Spanish competent institutions do realise this and new products and forms of tourism are being conswquently expanded now. Another impulse is a change of motivation of participants, which could be designated as being different in the 21st century. Consequently the traditional forms of tourism are insufficient to meet their needs. Especially the mainland of Spain is diverse and the great conditions for creating new forms of tourism ? cultural, rural, sports, business ? could be found there. Impacts of tourism in the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area

This thesis deals about tourism and impacts of tourism on the geographic environment. The main purpose is detection of impacts of tourism character, their concentration and intensity in protected area. In this research, author chose the region of the Křivoklatsko protected landscape area. Other aspect this thesis is detection of attandance evolution in confrontation with the proposed Křivoklátsko national park.
Contemporary state and perspectives of garden allotments in agglommerations of Czechia

5 ABSTRACT The research on garden colonies in Czechia follows an ongoing focus of the Department of Social Geography and Regional Development (Faculty of Science, Charles University) on specific forms of recreation in Czechia, specifically on projects concerning individual short-term recreation and secondary housing. The goal of this diploma thesis is to provide a comprehensive image of gardening in selected model regions of the Czech Republic, offer possible outlook, compare and evaluate current state and changes in functional use of garden colonies and analyze causes of their transformation. To accomplish this goal, we analyzed results of questionnaires and terrain investigations conducted in the individual model regions. One of the most important items of the study was the analysis of changes in functional use of the gardening colonies. We also evaluated selected characteristics of the gardening colonies and compared results from individual model regions. The conclusion of this analysis and evaluation is that in addition to the continuing production function of gardens and their substantial social-economic function, gardens also serve as a place for both psychic and stamina regeneration and a place of recreation. 4 Abstrakt Cestovní ruch je jednou z nejd ležit jších sou ástí portugalské ekonomiky. Významn se podílí na tvorb HDP i zam stnanosti. Portugalsko, významná evropská destinace cestovního ruchu, si to uv domuje, a proto v nuje institucionální podpo e rozvoje cestovního ruchu v jeho regionech velkou pozornost. S rozvojem principu udržitelného cestovního ruchu se v turistických destinacích uplat ují více r zné alternativní formy cestovního ruchu, jako je rurální, vina ský, kulturní nebo religiózní cestovní ruch. Dobrým p íkladem m že být region severního Portugalska - Norte. Portugalský cestovní ruch se vyzna uje výraznou koncentrací do n kolika málo oblastí a i v regionu Norte je cestovní ruch soust ed n p evážn do západní ásti.
