Impact of forest disturbance and management on surface runoff Abstract The main aim of this work is to evaluate the current national and foreign literature regarding the impact of the forest disturbance and the forest management on runoff process. The disturbance and methodology, which is used for evaluation of their impact on runoff, is described in the research part of this work. The work is applied to model locations in the central part of umava Mountains, where is mapped and described the health status of the forest for the individual river basins. The scope of this work is to evaluate the behaviour of selected model basins during precipitation situations and demonstrate the influence of the forest health status on character of the flow. Training and Education of Volunteers in the Home Hospice "Cesta domů" - the Homecoming

The issue of death and dying affects everyone, it is not easy and yet a natural part of everyone's life. Hospice care offers help and support a dying man and his close on the last trip "home". This thesis describes the possibilities of a preparatory course for the volunteers who play an irreplaceable role in hospice care. The practical part describes the specific example from the conditions of the Czech home hospice - The Home Coming, which is being commented on the ground of literature and my personal experience. The outcome of the research is the feedback for the management of the home hospice - The Home Coming, including recommendations for changes of the preparatory course.

The introduction of performance standards to increase the quality of nursing care

This dissertation addresses the issue of quality in healthcare. In particular, it focuses on the quality of nursing care and the related performance standards. The research was conducted on the wards of the Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation Department as well as in the other Intensive Care Units of the same teaching hospital. The theoretical section is divided into two chapters. The first deals with the definition of Quality and its perception from the viewpoint of both the patient and the healthcare professional. The second chapter covers Quality in Nursing and the related nursing care standards. The aim of the research was to assess the knowledge, experience and opinions of the nursing care standards among nursing staff. The results of this survey suggest that the overall level of knowledge among respondents is very good. But - on the wards of the Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation Department, the current situation calls for a more detailed familiarity with the nursing care standards among its nursing staff.

Ethical issues of care for the dying in a hospital

V disertační práci se věnuji etickým problémům, se kterými se setkávají zdravotníci při péči o umírající nemocné. první kapitole přibližuji problematiku péče o umírající pacienty, předkládám pohled do historie péče o umírající a zaměřuji se na klíčová kriteria při péči o umírající, kterými jsou potřeby nemocných. druhé kapitole popisuji metodologickou část kvalitativního výzkumu, kterého se zúčastnilo 15 sester ze standardních oddělení, jednotky intenzivní péče a anesteziologicko resuscitačního oddělení Nemocnice Na Bulovce. Cílem výzkumného šetření bylo, prostřednictvím rozhovorů se sestrami, vyhledat a popsat etické problémy, se kterými se setkávají sestry při péči o umírající kontextu tří různých prostředí a v konkrétních situací Ve třetí kapitole uvádím komentované výsledky rozhovorů, ze kterých vyplynulo, že se sestry zamýšlejí nad ochranou lidského života v jeho kvalitou, dystanázií, marnou léčbou, rozdílem mezi ponecháním pacienta zemřít a eutanázií, autonomií, lidskou důstojností a poskytováním paliativní péče. Jednotlivé podkapitoly se skládají z teoretického zarámování a jsou doplněny o výpovědi respondentek výzkumného šetření a rozšířeny o můj komentář. Hlavním zjištěním je, že dotazované sestry trpí tzv. morálním distresem, který ovšem prezentují především v sérii konkrétních výhrad...
